Vegeta is the true character building arc. Goku never changed his attitude and was always about the fight. Vegeta grew and came to love his family above all else. He is the ultimate warrior!!
Vegita is the Ken to Goku's Ryu, and for that reason I find him the more compelling. Vegita and Ken always had personal struggles, baggage, things they had to deal with and overcome. They always had a foil stronger than them who was almost carefree and not weighted down by anything but a single-minded devotion to the fight. While Goku and Ryu could devote their entire being to training, Veigta and Ken had to deal with their other mental and personal struggles, yet continued to press on, fell to despair or stagnation, then got up and pushed harder, somehow matching their foil, despite the foils having no distractions and being able to devote and focus almost entirely on training and on the fight. Vegita and Ken, despite effectively having the handicap of lineage (both from "noble" families more or less), family, and being weaker than their rivals, still push to do things their own way, with their own force of will, to somehow kind of keep up. Ken mastered the Dragon Punch even better than Ryu and Vegita managed to pull of higher transformations himself without relying on ritual as Goku did, and even his own version of ultimate transformation Ultra Ego instead of Ultra Instinct. Splitting life and family against pushing themselves beyond moral limits, and somehow keeping up with their counterpart who could devote wholly to training and nothing else, and doing so entirely based on force of will. That's why Vegita and Ken are the better characters to me.
It's one of the reasons I love Vegeta so much. He is in no way shape or form a hypocrite. It holds himself to so much higher of a standard than anyone else. If he expects something of another, especially another Saiyan, you know it's something he expects of himself as well.

25 years I’ve watched this unfold, I’m 36 and still gets me!!
My son. I wont tolerate failure. Be the best or be nothing. The World is harsh to be man.
That’s what means to be a man
The best thing about DBS is how Vegeta's character progressed from DBZ while still retaining his core. the "Think about the next threat, in a year, or five, or ten" says so much to me about how he has truly accepted Earth as his home and how it is his job, Goku or no Goku, to protect his home and his family.
Majin Vegeta's speech at the WMA stadium SILL gives me chills. One of the best moments in all of Dragon Ball full-stop.
Kids understand kakkarot
Man understands trunks suffering
But the real legend never gonna ignore vegeta's efforts
"48 minutes. Thats all we were given for this tournament of power. Yet in that brief timespan- we Saiyan warriors have shattered our limits. Time after time."
Perfect sync of dialogue with bgm, excellent work brother👏
We gotta be strong so the next generation is stronger
Vegeta is the one character that actually grows in this series, from being just an arrogant ass to understanding what it means to have pride.
Perfection
Who's here in their struggling period.
