I recently started seriously fasting for 24 hours increments several days a week. I've noticed that severe temptations have lessened to almost disappearing. I've realized that when we fast, as God comes closer, the wicked thoughts disappear. Temptations disappear. Doubt and feelings of the likes disappear. All of the darkness that come from the deceiver, the accuser, flee. God does not suffer the darkness. He sends it away because he does not suffer the face of the enemy to be in his sight. I encourage everyone who reads this, of whom have never fasted, to work your body into it. It is so worth it. Glorify the Father, glorify the Lamb of God.

Mourning and weeping are also signs of humility when in prayer, if you carry heavy burdens, sadness or strong desires do not be afraid to openly weep to your Father, for he is there for you in every moment and will reward those who openly commit and open themselves to Him. The key in this passage is that Ahab changed his heart towards God and humbled himself, this is what changed the outcome. God's desire is always for mercy, but we have to receive it in our decisions and our hearts and our faith. God did not change, Ahab did.
Brother thank you for preaching the word of God. Let me add a little bit as a biblical scholar : the Bible is very allegorical in nature , In fact it’s extremely allegorical. When addressing stuff like fasting the SPIRITUAL has to come into the equation too not just the physical…Fasting also appears to allure to (aside from interrupting our eating patterns) getting away from whatever in the world we consider as pleasurable that is negative to us and God …such as greed , envy ,hate , not telling the truth and so on. The verse you are alluring to does not necessarily mean literal physical fasting …remember Jesus calling people “generation of vipers?” That’s also allegorical it’s of course not literal vipers …and in revelation there is also no seven headed monster roaming around trying to destroy the Earth , the “beast” is a large kingdom/empire being ruled by one powerful leader. “Waters” in Revelation 17:15 is self explanatory…it means people or armies of people and this is confirmed if you read Jeremiah 47 God bless and keep preaching the Word. Sometime fasting does change God. In Bible written God change His decision towards king ahab 1 king 21: 27 - 29
