That article about drop rates was written by someone who doesn't know about the game at all. They didn't get caught manipulating drop rates for items but the rng behind their upgrade system. The upgrade system is basically a lottery in a lottery, you need to purchase cubes using premium currency to add up to 3 extra lines of upgrades. They got caught manipulating the tier up rates for these cubes and making it impossible to roll a specific set of lines without telling players. So players who were trying to get a roll for 3 ideal lines were buying upgrade cubes without knowing that it was impossible to achieve. Nexon is probably the greediest gaming companies that current operate, the equipment enhancement system uses 4 different rng based upgrading systems each having a less than 1% chance of getting the perfect lines required. Even after all of that extremely high ranked players would still try to make a godly item, even before this scandal Nexon was caught manipulating rates for a different upgrading system.
