- The American Vintage series introduces an all-new lineup of original-era model year guitars that bring Fender history and heritage to authentic and exciting new life. With key features and pivotal design elements spanning the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s, new American Vintage series instruments delve deep into Fender's roots--expertly preserving an innova-tive U.S. guitar-making legacy and vividly demon-strating like never before that Fender not only knows where it's going, but also remembers where it came from. The American Vintage Series has long presented some of Fender's best selling guitars (their early-'80s introduction, in fact, was one of the first signs that Fender was "back" as the CBS era ended). Today, Fender has boldly cleared the slate to make way for a fresh American Vintage series with new features, new specs and the most meticulous level of vintage accuracy yet. Rather than just replacing the previous models with different ones, we've completely and comprehensively re-imagined the entire vintage-reis-sue concept--restoring original tooling dies, voicing new pickups, reformulating vintage colors and more--based on actual vintage guitars we tracked down to make sure we had it right. We did the work, and it shows, because there's pure tonal magic in each new American Vintage instrument.
The American Vintage '56 Stratocaster takes you straight back to mid-1956, when the model was still new and when what is quite possibly the most prized and popular neck ever affixed to the instrument first appeared--a thick one-piece maple neck with a soft "V" shape, comfortably rounded edges and a then-new butterfly string tree on the headstock. Such meticulous authenticity even extends to the single-ply white pickguard with eight holes, lightweight alder body (ash on white blonde) with deep contours, and vintage-accurate pickups (alnico 3 pickups debuted in 1956), bridge saddles, tuner spacing and more.

Really love the look and sound and vibe of this guitar. Those pick ups really clean up with less pic attack.
tasty and colourful playing, you bring this beautiful instrument to life ...
I had one of these. Best sounding guitar I ever played. Unfortunately I couldn’t get on with the neck. The vintage string spacing and rolled edges were not conducive to the E strings staying where they were supposed to be.
Mark Lucas playing fantastic again
Beautiful guitar beautiful playing as usual!
Fantastic playing Lucas and great Guitar
Great demo! Can you give a very brief comparison between 56, 59 and 65 models?
so what do those pick ups mostly resemble ?? 54s ? fat 50s ? 57-62 ? as you can't buy 56 pick ups as for as i know
Hey Mark you prefer that plimpsoul over bb preamp?
Mark, I wont ask what the tune was at the beginning. I will just call it Funk Blues! Sweet sweet playing. The best demos on youtube.
advice please what gauge strings would be great to use if I wanted to play 50s and 60s twangy stuff like hank marvin and the shadows im using 9s but im thinking about going up to 11-52s of course the guitar will need a new set up I know that
I have my sights on one of these just can't pull the trigger. Took some time off so the funds are low or I would be showing it off.
Cool thanks for your opinion!
Cool guitar, great playing...
They have done the '59 and '65 together!
I can't speak for Mark, but I sure as hell do. All the Xotic OD's are killer, but the day I first played the Plimsoul I was floored. I've had it over a year now, haven't used anything else, and have been out of the market for another OD ever since. It honestly reproduces all the little details really well, and feels great. The 2 Stage gain, and Hi-Cut control is genius, imho. It's control simplicity understates it's ability to deliver a wide variety of OD textures. It's like Sonic Butter. ;)
Do I see a V Pick? Looks like a Dimension?
@richardcockburnin 9s for twangy bending stuff for srv he used heavy gauges like 12s or something
demo the Jag, please!
Cool a little Wayne krantz
Does this neck have the 10/56 anyone
He doesn't seem too excited about this one.
:)
