Definitely the nicest looking CUV in its class. Also probably the best to drive. Way to go, Mazda! Hopefully they will sell as many CX-5s as Honda does with the CRV
This CX-5 is a top pick and the way he does his review is enjoyable, fun to watch and very informative....now with the 184hp i should say its adequate and i'll buy this one soon..
Just bought my 2014 CX5 Touring a week ago. I'm in love. Never drove the 2.0 but this 2.5 has plenty of power. Seats are very supportive and the vehicle is roomier than it seems. Definitely recommend moving up to the Touring or Grand Touring for its better features like the Blind Spot Monitoring that, at first, didn't seem like a big deal until you're doing the rush hour grind. Wished I could've waited for the diesel. If you're looking for a small CUV, this is a must drive.
I had a '99 B3000 pickup that most people said was a rebadged Ford Ranger, Ford owned Mazda then. I differed in my opinion. People I knew who bought Rangers had problems I never encountered with my B series truck. It was a great truck and my only big problem was when the ECM (computer) failed and was replaced. Before and after that, though, it was a never fail, always started, completely reliable truck. I hope the CX5 I will buy is as reliable and fun.
Just purchased the AWD Grand Touring 2014 with the 2.5 litre. I chose this over the BMW X1. The new 2.5 engine is PERFECT for this car.....and it handes much better than the Honda or Ford. Love the 2.5 with the 6 speed auto......I am an adult person......if I want to go from 0-60 in 6 seconds I will but a hot rod. This car runs great and I would suggest anybody test drive one. Oh yea......I saved nearly $20K for a like optioned BMW X1...yea for me!
Hector, the rotary engine did fail...but it was mainly due to poor fuel consumption. They has some reliability problems with the Apex Seals did lead to premature engine failure. These cars however, like the 1974 RX4 I owned were a blast to drive, and engine replacements were readily available back in the day. Go to Ebay and look at what there old Rotary cars are selling for nowdays......they are very desirable from a performance standpoint.
do you hear a lot of the road noise when driving on the highway with this suv... generally the test drive folks dont let us drive on the high ways...so this will be good to know.. also comfortable is the drive when you are at a higher speed like between 80 to 100
I do dealer trading for dealers to get the right car for the customer. Driving many brands and styles I like the CX5 and Mazda6 5.8"screen. It is too high on the dash for comfort at night compared to the 8" used on other brands. Sure they dim with the dash, but not enough especially when the maps are moving. I'd much rather have voice direction than a large screen in my face and line of sight. I'm sure they will compromise with competition in coming models so I'm getting mine now!
What's happening Jeff. I went to school with your bro Andy. Nice review !. I currently own a mazda 3 hatch GTS , but thinking of making the SUV switch. This is a contender for sure. Subscribed >>>
The BMW when optioned in the same manner is $47K. The comparison is valid because I started my search with the X1. I am a motivated BMW guy. The cars compare in size and utility....so the comparison is valid. My point is that the 0-60 time when considering a purchase of this nature is negligible. The Mazda rides much better and has plenty of power in the 2014 version. Haters and internet badaskes will always lurking.
reliablility is a big factor you should take a look at the new consumer reports, mazda tied for second with subaru only next to lexus toyota came in 3rd
You know... anonymous internet bad asses are everywhere. For those of you who are really interested in the CX5 and the opinions I have offered, please understand they were offered as a service. For anybody to spend $30K on a car is a very huge investment. I have stated very clearly my opinion regarding the CX5 and was summarily attacked by someone who thinks BMW's come with V6 engines. The Mazda CX5 GT AWD have evey option avail other than Nav...with Nav the car runs around $31K.
I don't like how Mazda does a subtle bait & switch with their MPG. Maybe it's not their fault but more of the reporting of MPG. 90% of people are buying an automatic transmission. The automatic FWD version of this gets 31MPG. The AWD version gets 30MPG. But, when you read reviews from just about everyone on this car, they quote 35 MPG. Which is what the manual transmission FWD gets. Don't give the MPG figures for the manual transmission if you are reviewing the AWD automatic. You think that reviewers would point this out. It's a bit deceiving in my humble opinion. Autobytel's review is the first review I have seen with apples to apples MPG.
sadly....you should probably just get another crv if you dont feel comfortable laying down lots of cash and arent trying to conquer the rubicon trail. if someone told me your last comment, i would honestly recommend the crv or cx5 so idk what to tell you.
Sir, I just purchased a new CX5 GT AWD with Nav, heated seats, xenon, roof rails, Bose surround, Bluetooth, Sirius, Leather, Blind spot monitoring, Sunroof, Keyless entry.....and a ton of other crap. If you would use your reading comprehension skills, you will find that I said a BMW X1 "like optioned". Please go to the BNW site and "build" an X1 with all of the feature my CX5 has...go ahead I'll wait. My CX5 stickered at $31K+ and the X1 similarly optioned was $48K+.....who is full of it?
No, I was just poining out that what you said was b.s....you didn't save nearly 20k....The x1 lists for about $31,500 and runs rings around the Cx-5 of any trim level...vs 28,870 for the Cx-5. While the Cx-5 is nice there is no comparison...relax..again just pointing out that what you were claiming is false.
LOL, V6 X1... sorry but if u call the X1 luxury... you are sadly mistaken. BMW come with inline 6 or inline 4, also turbo V8.... they dont have V6 :X By claiming X1 has a V6, all your opinions r null and void.
this review is no good.... hes just promoting the car. lets be honest, there are MUCH bettr SUV's out there, such as the Venza.... You should promote more cons so we can have an honest review.
The Mazda Cx-5 GT lists for $28,870 without adding any options...the X1 doesn't list for $48,870 or anything close to that..sorry but your full of it rand...and X1 has either a turbo or a v6....your comparing apples to oranges...X1 0-60 is 6.1 seconds. I love Mazda but there is no comparison to the X1.. Xdrive 3.5 with 300 horsepower lists for 38,600...not even 10k more that the 4cyl Mazda.
i drove a 98 crv and both of my parents drive 2008 crvs, yes two of them. both my 98 and my parents crvs fucking suck. message if you want me to bitch in detail. never go back to honda again.
Dude......Your lack of comprehension is astounding. I willl say it one last time and then allow you to regurgitate your immature opinions. The CX5 loaded with every available option is $31K........the BMW X1 AWD 4cyl turbo when optioned in the same manner is $47K.....so you do the math. An X1 with the 6cyl turbo when optioned in the same manner is $53K........oh yea......and that is without the 19" rims the Mazda is rolling on. The BS is coming from someone who thinks BMW's come with V6's.
Youre very full of anger, name calling, which is a sign that Im right or you wouldn't be so angry...you are comparing an economy crossover with a BMW..there is no equal comparison....and again Il say it so you can understand it, You didn't save 20 k....you bought a much cheaper slower vehicle...."Oh yea......I saved nearly $20K for a like optioned BMW X1...yea for me!" LOL again, you didn't save anything.....cuz youre comparing 2 different things and the BMW is far superior.
Had my 2014 cx5 for five months. Great crossover. Would recommend it to anyone.
Love this guy's enthusiasm, and I have to agree with him on this car. Best compact crossover on the market.
Definitely the nicest looking CUV in its class. Also probably the best to drive. Way to go, Mazda! Hopefully they will sell as many CX-5s as Honda does with the CRV
Had mine for about 3 weeks now, and absolutely love it.
This CX-5 is a top pick and the way he does his review is enjoyable, fun to watch and very informative....now with the 184hp i should say its adequate and i'll buy this one soon..
this guy knows his stuff
It still look better than these new suvs

Do you still have it?
@@karle0822 No. I wish I did. I had to go bigger and got a full size truck. Every so often I see one out on the road and kinda regret trading it.
I had a '99 B3000 pickup that most people said was a rebadged Ford Ranger, Ford owned Mazda then. I differed in my opinion. It is fine in my opinion. Ive heard some complaints about it but I really havent noticed any issues with road noise.
Thanks I'll have to look. I know Mazda never used to be that reliable (I had an RX-7) but I know things change.
I am seriously thinking about upgrading to a CX-5 from my 2008 Tribute. My gas mileage sucks and it strains to get up to speed when I need it.
do you hear a lot of the road noise when driving on the highway with this suv... generally the test drive folks dont let us drive on the high ways...so this will be good to know.. also comfortable is the drive when you are at a higher speed like between 80 to 100
Will this engine be finding a home in the Mazda 5, and Mazda MX5 anytime soon?
I do dealer trading for dealers to get the right car for the customer. Driving many brands and styles I like the CX5 and Mazda6 5.8"screen. I think I should get this vehicle after my leasing on Toyota rav4 ...

Mazdas are incredible cars though
Did I read it right 34mpg highway?
which color is this?black?
How tall is the reviewer in the video? The hatch doesn't seem to open high enough for a tallish guy.
I Love Mazda's!
Thanks for showing us how to use a back door lift gate..lol..can you now show us how to open a door?
sadly....you should probably just get another crv if you dont feel comfortable laying down lots of cash and arent trying to conquer the rubicon trail. if someone told me your last comment, i would honestly recommend the crv or cx5 so idk what to tell you.
Amazing SUV....blows Honda CRV off the map in every way!
looks like the darker gray color, I think its called meteor gray or something
RAV got rid of their V-6 which was a mistake. Their 4 cyl. is underpowered compared to the Mazda. Still with Toyata you have the reliability factor.

yeah thats all true. dont get a suv 4wd unless you go through snow. in fact i wouldnt bother with a suv at all unless i was offroading or in snow.
Not enough...I still go w/ Rav4.
Correct. 6'3"
This is an ad for Mazda, where is the review?
No, I was just poining out that what you said was b.s....you didn't save nearly 20k....The x1 lists for about $31,500 and runs rings around the Cx-5 of any trim level...vs 28,870 for the Cx-5. I think your comment reply is for the wrong person???
yea d rotary engine failed in the usa they replaced nearly 70% of em hahaha
Fun fact: The CX-5 is a mere 11 lbs heavier than a Mazda 6.
LOL, V6 X1... sorry but if u call the X1 luxury... you are sadly mistaken. BMW come with inline 6 or inline 4, also turbo V8.... they dont have V6 :X By claiming X1 has a V6, all your opinions r null and void.
every one started moving to 7 and 8 inch screens then tesla came and made them all feel sad
What is a BNW? Is that the one with the V6 :) hehehee
the guy is 6"3 hes quite tall
so they gave it the engine that it should of had in the first place.
Yea......sorry bout that. I am nothing if not computer challenged.
You lost me at MOMMA JOMMA

nah nah i like the cx5. besides cars in that class arent really considered luxury models anyways so ill take what i can get......god i hate stank puss
i drove a 98 crv and both of my parents drive 2008 crvs, yes two of them. both my 98 and my parents crvs fucking suck. message if you want me to bitch in detail. never go back to honda again.
CRV super ugly! lolzzz and really not that much things got changed ( It is a good car).
Hey.....you're not allowed to park there....lol
jk
Fun Fact: My Forester XT blows the doors off of the CX-5 on a regular basis. SKYACTIV sounds like woman's deodorant. XD
zoom....zoom...ness?......>__>
