Hello, thanks so much for the help. I have been good at computer science however in every mock I missed the 9 by one or two marks. Your videos helped me answer questions fully and also find out the extra detail. I plan to watch the whole series of paper again before my exam to reconsolidate my learning. Good luck to everyone who has their exam on Monday.
RIP to the programming project RIP to all the good teachers (going down in the comments, it looks like we’ve all had an awful time lmao) RIP to us if we forget one word of key terminology Good luck bois, we’ll do shit but it’ll drag down the grade boundaries so it’s chill lmao
yoo i *actually* cant believe it the test today was soo *easy* like it nearly felt like a ICT exam all the content seemed so simple, everyone was surprised. Hope I can say at least nearly the same for Paper 2 on Thursday.
I wish I found your channel months ago instead of the night before the exam. My schools so shit that’s we only covered half the syllabus and in poor detail. Thanks for the last minute help anyway.
blackbearface gaming similar experience, year 10 we had a useless teacher, he taught us nothing and we had to look through a book that was poorly made (cambridge cmp science) in my opinion anyway, and year 11 weve had an actual decent teacher, which had to teach us the whole 2 year course in 1 year, which she has done well but theres so much you can do, good luck tomorrow bro
Awesome work! Perfectly structured run through of the paper; I’ve learnt a lot from this video and it’s given me a whole lot of confidence for my exam on the Monday coming. Looking forward to watching your Paper 2 walkthrough for my exam on Thursday too. Thanks! 👍
Went through the playlist in 3 days, my teacher can't teach I literally just knew denary/binary/hex conversions out of everything on both papers. I should be able to pass now, thank you
I like watching exams after I've passed them, it's rather relaxing. Looking back, this looks very simple. I also enjoy reading comments on people stressing about exams, while I'm stressing about 6 assignments on Network Protocols, Programming and Project Management due in next week...
@@alexthorn9623 I'm the only one in my class who finds paper 2 easier. 😂 I'm a maths brain so all the algorithms make more sense to me than the theory stuff.

This really did boost my confidence if the exam is like this tomorrow im sure to pass and so are all of you if you watched this video to the full really did help my only concern is the grade boundaries
Just completed my unit 1 GCSE exam, watching this video the day before helped with confidence, the paper wasnt too bad in my opinion but was mostly about networks and memory with some secondary storage, thank you CST for the last minute boost, will be using the unit 2 video soon and will report back a similar response. :D
Great videos man. You helped me look at things from another perspective and making me consider a lot more points when answering a question. Paper 1 doesnt seem like a big issue to me, but paper 2 is scaring the living hell out of me, as I'm parallel with coding.
Question 5C,”Explain four reasons why the bakery may use a star network topology for their LAN”, as it says explain, would I have to analyse what each of the 4 reasons do or do I just state what they are, like you did?
Yeah, it's a weird question, often the specimen papers aren't as refined. You'd expect it to be 'explain two reasons', and then you'd state it, then explain it, as you say. You have to play the game a little bit, and always look at how many marks it is worth - it's almost always a mark a point, which is why I just stated them without elaborating
at 13:51 i have noticed that it sates to write an algorithm. Isn't a flow chart considered to be not an algorithm or am i just wrong. im not particularly great at compsci.
Thank you very much for this, I'm in year 10 and have mocks in 2 weeks. Do you know any websites or do you do any pseudocode/flowcharts revision on your channel? SUBSCRIBED :)
If you're looking for a general pass like I am, a 4 i reckon in both papers total out of 160 will be about 39/49 for bottom 4 and solid top 4. As I said, this is a general opinion as the NEA which was 20% of our grade has been leaked against OCRs will. Therefore making it 100% exam, so boundaries definitely will be low just how low lol. Good luck all tomorrow.😊
Do you have any idea as to how we'll be marked e.g. if the examiners are going to strictly follow the mark scheme and even if we've worded the answer differently we won't get a mark
Sometimes they are looking for a specific word or phrase (usually underlined on the mark scheme). Examiners are subject specialists so they know when you've answered it correctly, so otherwise your answer doesn't have to be exactly like the mark scheme
You talk about what you do in like a list. So to begin with, your would put. 1: Split data into data packets. 2: Each data packet has to have an address it needs to go to. (In this case it is the same) 3: Send data packets. 4: End (Sending) Similar to the receiving part)
I thought that cache size affected cpu performance as it holds data for the fetch stage which needs to be acsessed by the cpu, and the size affected it as if you had more data in the cache, more data could be accessed by the cpu?
Any advice for the exams? This is because I did the mock paper and I'm always losing marks even if I did know something like the questions about cache and also it talks about cloud storage even though no textbooks cover it
Point 1 I would make is that textbooks don't cover everything, which is why it is important to cross check it with the syllabus when using it. The most important thing is to cover all the content but try and do as much practice as you can, using other exam boards if you want. Personally I would go for a mark a minute and skip to look at the algorithm questions first, and going through the paper skip and come back to any questions I didn't get straight away
Computer Science Tutor How did you know what to cover in your videos? This is because the specification is so vague, it doesn't say how in depth you should know most things. Also, it doesn't say anything about having to learn about cloud storage either... Besides that, do you think we should only be revising unit 1 before the 1st paper or unit 2 as well? This is because algorithms came up in paper 1 even though there's no focus on that at all in unit 1. I'm genuinely grateful for you taking the time out to reply back and answer, thank you.
I followed the specification directly but you're right, it can be vague so it takes interpretation and common sense on my behalf (and from experience covering previous courses, and other exam boards, so with more context you can work out what they mean when it is ambiguous). So cloud storage is a good example, because it seemed an obvious exam question to me and other exam boards included it, I left it in for OCR. I'm not totally sure what I would do, unfortunately you guys are guinea pigs a little bit, what with it being the first year. I would try and go through all the content for both papers (it takes less time than you would imagine), then start focussing on paper 1 maybe even a week before the actual exam. Look at your timetable and see where the gaps appear that you could revise paper 2 but you're not quite at the stage where you have to focus on individual exams yet, that'll be during the exam period.
Computer Science Tutor I've got a mini paper 1 test on Monday, I'll use your videos to revise and use my grade to determine the perfect method of revision. I previously used the cgp textbooks which were decent until I realised you actually covered what OCR wanted, whereas the revision guide is written as if a student had interpreted the specification.
