These bunkers are extremely difficult to find there is a few down here in Cornwall which we know about thank you for documenting this Matt it's important to document history as we all know

I used to go there a lot with a friend who lived at number 2 Meadow Road. A few old chaps in the area used to rent it and use it as a bit of a workshop/clubhouse. The last time I was there they were making a huge table out of an upturned tree root for a nightclub, with a glass top and lights in the tree root.. for some reason they were stopped from renting it and there was talk of development but we heard was too difficult to build on. It’s deteriorated a lot since I last saw it 20 odd years ago. Shame, but glad it is still there…

i lived 350yards up that tiny rounderbout which was not a island ,when i lived there the wall gave it away to me ,say no more that was built and finished in 1959,there are 3 others not far from that bunker and a filled in one in yardley wood called berry mound
The bunker is located between Lionel and fleet streets and the project was abandoned in 1956 because it was no good in defending against thermobaric nuclear weapons

Weird why they built this in the 50s as a cold war bunker, as it's single floor and barely underground, wouldn't have survived unless the hit was some way away.
Was used as a social club in the 90s, hence all the stuff that's there.
It would have been used not as a strike bunker but some sort of Fallout shelter, it's deep enough with the soil and concrete to get probably a protection factor of 500/1 or better from Gamma rays.
Quite similar to a lot of the small civil defence and local government bunkers that were constructed or retrofitted from old basements.

This was a secret night club only a select few knew about.
My dad remebers coming here back in his youth.
And from what he told me it closed because the mixture of porcelain and asbestos on the tiles on the wall became a health hazard and was fenced off and filled in.

That generator has the same starter motor that hospitals use on their back up generators. Must be same sort of system. I used to repair them in a factory.
Check out Mr Hewes he's recently got hold of an old tank engine that was a hospital back up generator 😂👌

Why did we make nuke bunks if we never had a nuke war? and alot look like they got nuked 😅, its weird, i get just incase, the uk dont give a toss about the people because other countries have up to date accessible bunks for fallout. Actually a joke, sure we wouldnt mind tax payer money been going for decades to this cause, were just sitting ducks barely have a basements.
