You make very strong points dear brother. I think people fail to realize (GOD) never told the Hebrews its name. GOD only responded to Moses "Tell them I'AM sent you!" The Hebrews themselves gave their GOD names like Yahweh, Jehovah, Elohim, etcetera. It's a blessing we have names like Olodumare and Chi-Ukwu ❤! Keep up the great work.
Interesting take - but do you see a valid point around the potential flaws in the human interpretation and documentation of "the Christian God", "Muslim Allah" etc - I strongly believe in the concept of a universal Creator that has manifested itself via different means throughout different civilisations and cultures, however, how man has chosen to culturally appropriate that manifestation is another matter. Political and Economic machinations have played big roles in institutionalised religions, in fact they're inter-woven, a powerful combination that has given rise to and maintained world orders. So whilst the concept, in of itself, of Olodumare, the Christian God, Allah, Yahweh etc may be in fact the same, depending on which civilisation you belong to, cultural and human manipulation for various reasons have led to the divergent beliefs held by the different peoples, to the point where there is a desperation almost to disparage others' belief systems, as that only strengthens ones own. For me, the Yoruba spiritual system is embedded in my DNA ( it's not something one can get away from even if one never identifies it). However, can I go to a church function (e.g. for a christening, wedding etc) and go along with the prayers (though some parts I don't buy into at all and keep quiet at those points), yes I can, if an Imam is giving a sermon/ saying prayers, can I say Amin, absolutely - the Yorubas believe "adura oki poju" (prayers are never too much) and acquisition of knowledge, any knowledge isn't wasted - basically it takes nothing away from me to do so, because when I close my eyes and pray, and think and continue my Iwa Pele journey in this "market place", I have no choice but to be enveloped by the energies of my DNA, (the Orishas, awon Irumole, Orunmila and ultimately Olodumare) - it's simply an unshakable thing, it's as intrinsic to me as my ability to speak because it's intertwined with my Ori, my Destiny, my Eleda (thus not as "disconnected" as having "faith" in the Christian way for e.g.) I do get what you're saying, some people are quick to say "oh Orishas are no different to Catholic saints" or "Olodumare is God", I've said it myself, it's mostly for de-demonising purposes, because at times, it's too much of a leap to explain to people who have been given the impression (by missionaries) that one worships "the (christian) Devil/Satan" (a concept that didn't even exist to the Yorubas), but you're right, it's also about building confidence, which can be gained through acquiring better/more knowledge.
I appreciate this comment. As a person who was raised Christian (though I struggle with some things in the texts as I would assume various people do with anything) I can't not acknowledge truths in all of this. Interpretation is a huge part of relationship and spirituality. There are some Christian people who disagree with my relationship with God as I am sure there are people in your spiritual practice who don't feel you follow to the letter (this is a "for instance" situation- I have no idea how your fellow parishioners feel about your practice. This is how I am: I can agree in prayer with people and still have my faith. If there is one creator I am confused a bit by telling a section of ppl they relationship is wrong and that translation does not effect any of that. I
I’m a Vaishnava (Hare Krishna) with a Cuban background and looking into the religion my recent ancestors practiced. I am attracted to your videos because you give a pretty succinct philosophical take. You’re doing excellent work! You say that various names of the Supreme Being represent different relationships. That’s something we say in Vaishnavism too. It’s like how I might call my wife “Muffin” and her co-workers call her “Jane Doe” or what have you. They refer to the same person but the names pick out a certain relationship. Am I representing what you’re saying correctly, or is there something deeper I’m missing?
You are mixing Divine Creator Energy with Hueman Culture. You are correct. There are many paths to the Supreme Creator Divine Energy. Olodumare/Olorun are West African and the West African cultural Path to "The One" That same Divine Energy is called Yahweh to the African Hebrews. Amen Hetep in. African Kemet. Its All connected. Just different names and Aspects for the same "Divine Force/ Energy who has many attributes thru African Cultural Practices.....Ase'
What happens if you feel a connection/pull and arent even entirely sure if you have African DNA? Some weird stuff has been happening to say the least.. I cant step back from this, I don't think I have a choice entirely anyways without ruining my path. I dont want to appropriate, I would love to learn but I don't see myself being able to go to Nigeria anytime soon. What is the choice for those of us that have no obvious family connection then? I don't connect with Christianity or any other religions the way that I do Yoruba.
loved the message. I feel that to equate or equivocate any "diety" to another depreciates the innate ontology of those deities to mere superficialities thus falling short of their supreme understanding in relationship to ourselves.
Ok well I have some questions then because if I use ur reasoning then how can one justify all the different sects of Ifa, such as Santeria, Vodoun, etc. They all have different views of Olodumare and the orishas, so what makes that different from other forms of religions or faith practices? And there are also a lot of similarities between the different religions as well, which U didn't address. But I thought even in Ifa, it's taught that Olodumare is known by several different names & several cultures in African worshipped different Orishas, so how is this any different? I'm asking for knowledge.
well... history explains the differences between the diasporic traditions. they were divided up and isolated from one another. they developed the original practices as well as they could, according to the different circumstances of their colonial realities. within africa, the diversity is accepted within a specific cultural continuity. in africa, olodumare is understood within a cultural range, in other words.
@@ObafemiO everything. I'm just now getting my " feet wet" into the practice. Im into voodoo/ hoodoo... All that. I tried a few manifestation...so far so good. I just want to know everything
i understand. well, orisa is very complex. people will take advantage of your inability to validate what they say. take your time. seriously. go slowly and get super clear about your intentions before you do anything in the tradition.

Every human on Earth has African DNA. Africa is where human life began. We have fossil and DNA evidence to prove it.

Vishnu is certainly a different diety. Allah and Yahweh likely do not exist at all.
no need to invalidate other people’s beliefs.
