- It's time to say goodbye to Chile and embark on the ferry crossing to Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego for our final destination at the bottom of South America. That's right, in today's video we're finally reaching the city of Ushuaia, also known as the End of the World! This was a long travel day of 11.5 hours starting in the city of Punta Arenas. We crossed at Cruce Bahía Azul, which is a narrow point on the Strait of Magellan.
We then continued the bus journey over the border where we got stamped out of Chile and back into Argentina. Along the way, we got to enjoy the scenery which was vastly Patagonian steppe with lots of estancias, which eventually transformed into snow-capped mountains the closer we got to Ushuaia. It was a cool travel experience - though I'm sure you can tell that at this point we were beat! - but it was definitely worth the effort to reach the end of the world. We finished off this epic travel day with some pizza and wine for dinner. We'll see you soon with more travel videos from our time in Ushuaia.

Sorry, it wasn't in 2020, it was in January 2021. It was a sad day not only for Tolhuin, but for everyone in Tierra del Fuego.
Luckily there were no injured people.
Currently the bakery is still open, in a smaller store 100 meters from the original place.
Where the original bakery was, they are building a new one.
I love Ushuia! We also had the best pizza of our trip I Argentina in Ushuia😁

@@samuelandaudrey no. It was a place called Bar D Pizza. It was located in a hotel on a hill very close to our Airbnb- they had an AMAZING seafood pizza. Agreed it sure does!
I like the way you gave us all the facts. Price of bus and length of journey. All useful information when planning things. You seemed to have no problem at border crossing from Chile to Argentina. Thought it might have taken more time. I like the way you are always kind to dogs. I’ve seen some fine looking dogs in your Argentina videos. Ushuaia looks interesting. Don’t think I would be able to fit in 12 days though. Great information as always. Good to get the apartment tour. I know you guys eat out a lot. Wait till you are over 50 and you will know what swelling feet is. There must be days when you want to just lie in the apartment and not bother getting dressed to go out.
I’ve been so comfortable at home now with these tyrannical lock downs and restrictions I’ve forgotten what it must be like to have freedom to travel. Great to watch your travel videos. I was always an independent traveller and I like what you guys do and the way you do it.

9:24-9:29 I don't blame you. I myself used to pour garlic salt on my pizza and pasta over the past few years, as garlic too is part of Mediterranean cuisine. But garlic does give you yucky breath.

Hi! I'm going to Ushuaia next January and was waiting for your videos there to see where to go or where to eat! I must sadly inform you that the famous panadería in Tolhuin closed down due to the pandemic and lack of tourism. I'm planning to visit Tolhuin when I go to Ushuaia so I'll see if they have managed to open it up again or if it is closed for good.

So there is a story about a dog from Argentina and a dog from Chile who met at the border, each headed to the other dog’s country. The Chilean dog was starving thin and when asked why he was going to Argentina, he replied, “ So I can eat; everyone in Chile is starving!” Then he asked why the Argentinian dog was going where things were so bad. The Argentinian dog looked around behind him, and whispered “so I can bark!”

Hey! When did you go there and which season you would recommend is best for visiting? I am asking as this is on my parents bucket list and my dad had a heart surgery this year, so they have to plan it for the mildest season.
Summer is the best time of year to visit southern Patagonia, so I'd say between December and February. We did our trip in January. You'll still want to bring some winter clothes as the weather is quite unpredictable this far south.

My trip through the mountains on Tierra del Fuego was done in a snowstorm - a fitting end to a 14-month journey that I started in Mexico City. Great video, this brought back memories!
