The first time that I heard this song was during the pandemic it got me through the dark times when all hope was lost thank you Mike Lindup for bringing such a wonderful masterpiece with so much emotion things are much better we survived it's time to let go of the past prepare for a future brighter than ever
beautiful singing, lyrics and music by Mike Lindup . He is probably better known as co founder and keyboard wizard for UK band Level 42 which became an international hit band around the mid 1980s. Lovely story how Mike's parents met: Mikes mother was born & raised in Belize(small country below Mexico). She was Afro Caribbean, sang, played piano and acted . She moved to the UK in the mid to late 1940s . She joined the military and studied . Mike's father was a white big band leader, arranger and composed some music. They met when they were entertaining military men from the UK , US and other allied soldiers in London. They fell in love and bore several children including Mike . I'm sure he worked hard becoming a musician but he also had the jump on most of us because he has lots of music in his dna .
@@OneHope4Heaven I wouldn't say that, Jan Hammer is an iconic keyboarder and songwriter. I'd say that they are both equally good in what they did respectively still do. You are right Mike Lindup is an incredible artist. Not only his fantastic keyboard-play but also his beautiful voice. I'd never forget the early Level 42 records. For me one of the best music ever made - and Mike Lindup was probably 1/2 of Level 42 whereas the other 1/2 was Mark King and the other great musicians. Just MHO.

This song always relaxes me. I needed to hear this on a Friday evening after a grueling work week. Please don't ever stop making music. I've been a huge fan since my teens.

Incredibly talented musician. I grew up listening to level 42 and it's currently part of my life soundtrack, and thanks to my beloved Dad that has an exquisite music taste. ( being a drummer.itself )Amazing song, what a talent, Mike. Love from Spain.
Forgot to say, what a lovely video too, pointing out that when we need to get away from it all, all you need do is go out in your garden if you have one or get out into the countryside and connect with your natural surroundings. Smell the flowers, listen to the birds and realise that this is what we are truly part of and yearning for....
These lyrics mad me weep; Time to let go We don't need it all We already bring so much inside of us Time to let go We don't need it all The world already has so much to offer us God already gave us so much - our talents, the love inside us, the people we treasure, our pets, the beauty of nature & wildlife, music, laughter, our senses, .... our very souls ... but we try to fill our void with material goods or such things of the devil's deceit... We're consumed with distractions (technology, tv, media, the news & all the rest) instead of looking at what's right under our noses, & engaging with PEOPLE ... Beautiful tune, Mike ~ You hit the mark lyrically AND Musically ... The sound of the grinding gears of our fast-paced world chugging against the backdrop of a relaxed ice skater gliding by with "legato strides" ... You ALWAYS have had a way with translating those subcutaneous & visceral emotions (kept bottled up inside) through your synths! - "It's Over" comes to mind ~) ... I wish this tune could get ample air play - please consider having your agent contact KTWV in Los Angeles - a Jazz/Fusion-oriented FM radio station (where I subsequently once worked). They just might consider it! ❤Blessings❤, Mike. Really love this tune (as well as many others on the Changes album & Conversations with Silence. My Dad would have liked that too - he was a Jazz Pianist & Professor of Music who taught music composition, orchestration, & theory... some of the chords you play sound somewhat like his!)
Love this track. The music is wonderful. The lyrics are so appropriate for what many of us are dealing with. Cannot wait to hear the whole album. Mike ... Respect since seeing you and Level 42 on April 24 & 25, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Dear Mike, that’s incredible. I bought Changes during my youth (the vynil) and absolutely loved it, it was fundamental for my musical growth. Today the algorithm gave me the news Changes 2 is coming. What a beautiful coincidence :) brilliant tune can’t wait for the full album. Best
Mike, The original Changes album, for me, is one of those pivotal albums that even now, doesn't seem to have dated at all and listening to it transports me back to 1990, driving around in my old Morris with the windows down during the summer. 31 years later, i still have the car and that album is still a regular play that conjures up summer days and if this song is anything to go by the sequel should be another pivotal one. Mike you don't do many releases, but, wow when you do theyre excellent. Please come and play your music down here in Cornwall at some point. Really interesting vid too!
