I love the huge events with the production value and huge PA set up but there's nothing better than seeing a dj walk right up next to you after killing it and shaking your hand and genuinely looking at you like your family. You dont get that in some of the more mainstream genre's.
SaSaSaSa , absolutely brilliant.. I would love to see a documentary on how they formed this. Definitely formed like Voltron and took Drum n Bass by storm. Phantasy is a genius imo, Mackie Gee is a Don. Then you have the veterans , Skibba and Shabba, On the front lines. Then what can I say about this man" The one they call da Harry Shotta. Shotta is my mentor. IMO he was the game changer. Bars for days outta that man. Holds the world record for the most words in a single track beating Eminem's Rap God with 7,771 words in "Animal". Follow that track with Whatching me now". Feat Doctor. If you ain't on the hype you ain't doin it right. UNCZ ( The Uncontrolables) was a creative warm up. If any East Coast promoters read this comment. I'm dead serious about bringing this whole crew State Side and running wild for like 4 shows. I'll fund them all as long as the spots are right, proper sound systems for Drum n Bass which lacks around the US. I have so many questions Shotta. I knew he was taking DnB emceeing to the highest levels of hype and clarity. I've been a DnB MC for 15+ yrs. As of recent I must say US DnB purest Mcs are stepping up their game and really working the craft. Its like no other. Respect to the U.K. mic men , the well versed intellects of these new US mcs will certainly not disappoint. I remember on TH-cam years back when they would have the Battle of the Mcs, on . I watched that religiously. That's when Eksman was tearing a path. Also I'm so relieved to see all of the UK's women Mc's flexin dem mics propa like. Tali is and always will be the queen imo. I'm glad she held it down with Emma G through all of those SoulSide Sessions. Melodic vocals into brrapp, fire, burnin through syllables like nothing. I've had many many opportunities to host so many headline sets with some of the biggest DnB DJs over the past 17 yrs. I don't take many bookings anymore due to family life and kiddos but fresh bars and keeping up with the constant progression has kept me feeling young n hungry. I just wish I could find a solid DnB producer to toss me some tracks that could either need some distorted custom sample, or a hook cause I got hooks for DnB for weeks . Or a couple full length tracks. In the part of the US I live in. Our scene is a continuous popularity contest of keeping up appearances, how many tickets can you sell for a promoter and how many heads can you get through the door? Unseasoned DJ are getting prime spots because of ticket sales, favors , being buds with the promoter etc etc. its hard to find a production company that can represent Drum n Bass the way it should be done. 170 dnb saved my life . Real talk. I'm 36 and still have so much more to give back to this music. Respect to all my Drum n Bass purists, Junglists and Break Beat Junkies. We have one of the most powerful things fueling us each day. Use it for good educate, rep Drum n Bass properly in the club, warehouse , under a bridge or in a field with a system that will give it what it deserves. If your excited for an upcoming show. Contact the promoter, volunteer as part of the street team. Promo promo. Forget social media invited. High gloss card stock flyers. Not one of you will dis agree 20 plus years ago and you got one of the flyers at the end of the night . You def had some special and well thought out in your hand.
