    Don't forget the 216G... uses standard 15-class bobbins and is very smooth, but is not full rotary. That machine hit it out of the park. Also, as noted it is quite doable to make changes that allow for 15x1 needles in this series of machines.

    • @erikneek
      @erikneek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're absolutely right: The 216G is an awesome machine. Unfortunately I don't have one and havent seen one come up for sale. But I did write a script for a video on the 216G... 🙂
      As soon as one comes up for sale I'll grab it.
      My 306 had a modified bobbin case. That made my life a whole lot easier.
      I know there is a gentleman in the US that modifies the cases. Found him on the 206/306 Facebook group.
      Thank you so much for your message and I hope I'll have a 216G soon.

    Hallo Erik,
    Thanks very much for your clear video's. They are very informative. I have a Singer 306k .
    In the video you have spoken about adapting the bobbincase so making it possible to use 'normal' 705 x 130 naalden.
    Is this right? And can you tell me please how I should change the bobbincase, what do I have to do? I have a Dremel and grinding pieces.
    Vriendelijke groet, Titia Tebben
    Dankjewel voor je duidelijke filmpjes, erg informatief. Ik heb een Singer 306k.
    Klopt dit en kun je me vertellen hoe ik dat spoelhuis moet aanpassen? Ik heb een mini boormachientje met slijp hulpstukken. Alvast bedankt voor je hulpvaardigheid.
    Vriendelijke groet, Titia Tebben

      Hoi Tatia
      Can I reply in Dutch? If not, please let me know!
      Van harte met jouw 306k. Dat zijn geweldige machines. Er zijn 2 versies: Met een patroonschijfhouder aan de voorzijde, of zonder deze houder voor de fashion discs. Gewoon benieuwd ;-)
      Je kan zelf de case aanpassen om zo de standaard naalden te gebruiken, ook bekend als de 15x1 en 2020 naalden. Ik heb het geweten hoe je met een Dremel de case kunt bijschaven, maar helaas heb ik dat niet meer paraat. Maar dat is vast online wel te vinden (google).
      Heb jij/heeft u een account op FaceBook? Er is namelijk een groep speciaal voor deze Swing Needle Sewing Machines. (Singer 206, 306, 319 en 320.) In die groep worden regelmatig door nieuwe leden vragen gesteld over het aanpassen van de case. En een zekere Keith (in die groep) maakt ze speciaal voor de 206 en 306, dus dat is misschien wel handig - Dan behoudt u de originele speolhouder (case) EN heeft daarbij ook een aangepaste.
      Ik hoop dat ik u hiermee verder heb geholpen.
      Laat me weten als ik meer voor u kan doen!
      Groetjes, Erik

    Are you using a specific leather needle in this video. Or the size 15 needle?

    • @erikneek
      @erikneek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats two questions in one, Tess :-)
      I used a 206x13 needle specific for this Singer 206. As shown in the video I had the size 90/14.
      But to be honest: I cannot remember if I used the regular or the leather version. I THINK I used the regular 206x13 needle. Not the leather version.
      I hope that answers your question.

    Hello! It is very common that the side belt that connects to the steering wheel and makes the machine move has defects and wear, in which case is it easy to buy another one to replace the damaged one?
    Thanks in advance if you can answer.
    Your video is very good!!

    • @erikneek
      @erikneek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Douglas.
      Thanks for leaving a comment/question.
      Yes, it's normal that a belt has some wear. But not when the belt is relative 'new'/recent.
      The material gets brittle over the years, especially when it's not in use.
      You can buy new belts. But be aware, there are some different sizes so make sure you measure yours first.
      Changing the belt is also an easy task; Loosen the screw that holds the motor on the sewing machine side. (The big screw that holds the motor to the boss-mount.) You need to do this to release the tension of the driving belt. Then move the motor a little up or down so you can remove the belt from the drive shaft. Remove it completely and put on the new belt the same way you removed the old belt. Don't forget to move the motor in order to get some tension in the belt. And tighten the screw on the boss mount.
      Hope this helps.
      Good luck and take care,
      Erik

      @@erikneek Hi Erik. I think I expressed myself in the wrong way: the belt I referred to is the one that appears at 2:13, at the base of the machine.
      I've seen pictures where it's totally frayed and the machine misses stitches or doesn't even sew.
      Here in Brazil there are no machines manufactured by Singer with this belt (I don't even know what to call it), the machines here are always made with steel gears. Thanks for answering.

    • @erikneek
      @erikneek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@douglasmalthus I'm sorry for the miscommunication. It seems to me you mean the belt INSIDE the machine.
      That belt is harder to come by.
      They can wear, especially when someone oiled the belt. (Never oil that belt! But you already knew that I think.)
      I recall reading an article about that timing belt. If I remember correctly there is a gentleman in Germany who makes this belt. Perhaps you can find him by searching for a Singer 206 Timing Belt.
      You also might be able to find a used timing belt on ebay or a used vendor.
      I hope this answers your question.
      Good luck, Erik

      @@erikneek There's nothing to apologize for, I didn't express myself properly!
      You were fantastic!
      I already found an Adler sewing machine, one that has a green head and zigzags, it was in perfect condition, but with that inner belt totally frayed, I didn't buy it.
      I was unaware of this important aspect about not lubricating this inner belt, I think it's because I don't have any machine with one of these. I have many sewing machines at home, but none with one of these belts. Thank you for your help!

      I have 2 camera's. For this video I used a fullframe Canon DSLR (5D mark II) with 50mm f2.5; and a Tamron 90mm f2.8 lens.
      Often I use another camera, a broadcast camcorder. But those machines have a smaller sensor so I cannot get the depth of field I want. So I prefer the Canon 5D mark II.
