- VHS Tape that came with your new 1999 Jetta. Goes over some basic controls, features, etc.
Some things I noticed: The manual seat control is like a Mk3, not like a mk4. The radio is from a Mk3 and has green backlights not blue. Door plugers are like a 98 beetle and don't go flat. The fuses are the German style with the top open. The script on the VR6 engine cover is the Mk3 font not the Mk4. I'm sure there are a couple other differences too. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
But these old videos are great they show a lot of information and I learned a lot. I'm going to make my car look new like it was in the day.
That lock horn turns into a fart sound over time.
I didnt even know you could roll up the damn widows with a key and i had mine for 2 years!
Homicidal according to a road test by Motorweek (a long running car based TV show since 1981) on a 1995 Volkswagen GTI VR6 (the first GTI with a V6 engine), you could also roll the windows up with the key in the driver’s door in that car. I think VW was among the first to offer this as well as offer what I call the “switchblade key” (that’s the key that retracts like a switchblade knife with the push of a button).
lmfao, this has always been my favorite "trick" when someone tells me I didn't roll the windows up
I love this video. hahahaha I watch it when I want to laugh. I drive one of these, and I find something great every time I see this video. I wish I had the VHS that came with it.
You can see the VHS that comes with these jettas on TH-cam
I wish my Jetta still looked like the one in this video
This was actually really helpful to me. Thanks for upload.
A cool hidden gem is visible in the video. The MK4 had three visors. If you look at the part of the video of the sunroof and light controls you see the mini visor. It kept the tiny bit of light between the top of of the rear view and the painted surface at the top of the windshield sun free.
How many people knew it was even there?
I've owned three different MK4s, and only found that stupid flap on my GLI this last weekend LOL
22 años con un mk4 y sigue estando tan chulo... son una joyita... y bien lo dicen en el video... sè un conductor de jetta y seras vw de por vida... eh....mmm na! vw ya no es lo de antes.
Bora=Jetta, Jetta=Bora
this makes me wanna go drive mine so bad
haha
there are no more differences at the moment, the new BORA here is also called Jetta.
Oh, thanks for reply
uh no he is correct
i live in America and my car is called a jetta, but when i go to europe it's a bora
kinda wish my golf came with one of these instead of reading the owners manual lol
yeah i wish my 2002 mk4 gls looked this way still :$
Já em 1999 muito mais completo que o nosso no Brasil, e por aqui ele nem existia ainda.
I have no problems appreciating a Mk3 jetta, with all of its oddities. A Mk4 is harder to work on and makes too much sense.
I own a 2000 Passat, and it's basically this car but bigger (and with a better engine)
wow they really were paranoid about people getting into the trunk in 1999 a 'valet key' plus locks on the interior trunk release and rear seats!
sparkyauris this was pretty much a 90s car thing.
Well the MK3 has shitty placement of things. The crank sensor is underneath the front engine mount. You have to take the engine mount to swap it out. The MK4 crank sensor is right on the front of the engine block in plain sight. Seems VW put things on the MK4 2.0l where they should have been from the start lol.
Damn I have a 2012 Jetta n the key looks the same like this ones D:
but we had a jetta in germany until...uh 1996. not sure. and now he´s back
UK
bora like
Heya. You're A Shining Star! rightful super 1!
This is VW BORA
In which country tells the license plates what year the car is?
must be, or possibly we are talking about different generations of jetta
16:43 god damn, I wanted to see how to open the hood! where's the damn lever?
I'm buying a car like this as well it's a vw bora, please let me know is it good car and good to drive it's 2.0 petrol I did want to buy a 1.9tdi but I found this and I want to know so these cars have problems or any major faults that come in the cars. I just got my clutch replaced and no it won't have any problems hopefully.
Has Technob
Decent enough get it checked by a trusted mechanic
I have a 1999 vr6 automatic, and I would avoid the automatic at all costs, it is already on its second gearbox and it won’t be long until it fails again lol
Otherwise, it’s a very comfortable, reliable and it’s so fun to drive, but you have to look after it well, as with other german cars
Lol I wonder why they had to throw some crap together for the demo car.
Is this the GLX model?
Slobodan488 yea
I have mk3, and let me tell you its way harder to work on....
Why do Americans always say the year of car before the actual brand??
For ex. 1989 Civic
Aleast they got a good looking girl and shes not dressed all dorky like most early 90s car demo videos
BORA IS ALSO IN ARGENTINA
how come VW don't offer such instructional video like this anymore?
Maybe such a video would easily 2h plus. xD
Old cars are much easier to operate than modern cars with tons of features.
But only mk4 Jetta is Bora. mk3 Jetta is Vento. Others are Jettas here too.
We are on that weird side of youtube again...
АвтоВАЗ, посмотри, это было в 99 году (ЦЗ), Карл в 99 году.
jetta mk1 > jetta mk2 > Vw vento mk3 > bora with the golf 4
this is the european line
jetta = american, bora = european
vento nr4 xD
Thiago que guis de juniaojoauau
don't like mk2 jetta, looks kinda compact, looks ordinary!ohh and tail kinda short(personally like long hanging tails) best for me are mk2 and mk5!
I have a 99 vw jetta an I never seen a manually Windows there not electric so I checked my VIN# an is a GL but I started laughing cuz it's not American it saids Mexico that's weird
Edgar Aragon Mexico (which is one of VW’s loyal markets new or old) is where the Jetta, some Golfs and most GTIs are built. Puebla (near Mexico City) is where the plant that builds the Jetta is.
Also, México is in the American continent.
@@patrickmichaellangan576 some MK4 Golfs were built in Brazil as well.
Have an 04 gli and my key fob only works if in right next to the window. Pos!
Change the battery 🤦♂️
Junior heufubi Juju niau
maybe your jetta is not jetta :).
but the golf is sooooo much better
