This is the best video I’ve every found on car maintenance. This was shot very high quality and extremely informative. I really appreciate all the tool and bolt sizes called out by the great mechanic. Thank you and please keep these high quality videos coming. My next order will now be from your company.
Thank you, Sue. This video allowed me to change my daughter's oil pan on her 2010 Camry while she was in town for a work event. I ordered the 4mm wrench for the studs, 10mm ratcheting box wrench for the nut close to the frame, and exhaust gaskets to remove the exhaust (which I did before trying to take the pan off because of the video). Her car is now leak free and I was able to do it in one day by ordering everything needed ahead of time and following your instructions. Love 1A Auto videos.
Thank you for the tips and tricks for getting the old RTV off and putting it back on. I'm doing a 150K mile oil pan change on my 2003 Ford Focus ZX3. I'm glad I don't have to jump through all of the over spec tightening (that they didn't strip out the block and oil pan drain plug threads, is a miracle in itself) and all the exhaust hoops that you had to jump through with this Camry. Well done.
I love the video great video I'm just curious if it was possible to get the oil pan out with the oil filter removed will it give you enough space to clear without removing the exhaust

Does the new oil pan come with the oil drain plug tightened to spec? Do they even know the concept of a torque wrench at the Quick Change Oil shops? The reason I have to replace my oil pan is some tech stripped the oil pan bolt.

Beautiful work. I just dropped my oil pan to retrieve a feeler gauge I dropped down the oil return passage while doing a valve adjustment. Yeah, someday I'll look back on it and laugh, but not today. Was that Permatex The Right Stuff you used for the sealant?
This was good, thanks! I was looking for an oil pan replacement video for a Lexus RX 350 but can’t find one. I know these are the same size engines, but most other videos talk about dropping the transmission to do this. Have you replaced any oil pans a 3rd gen RX350 and know if there’s more to getting that oil pan out other than getting the exhaust out of the way?
I love your video. what is that large pipe with a screen at the end inside the oil pan. It's important that I know this as I got a piece of plastic coating from a fluid extraction line down the dip stick tube. Maybe due to a sharp edge at the bottom of the tube or something. 2 in long by 1/8 in wide. I'm wondering if it going to cause trouble or not
That is called the oil pump pick up tube it picks up to all brings it up to the top of the motor sometimes if you don't change your oil frequently that screen will get clogged up and cause your oil light to come on I have a 2002 avalon that did that replace the oil pick up tube fix the problem you hear your valves rattling too because not enough oil getting to the top of the motor because that screen is clogged up get it off eBay 👍

I was told it would take 3 to 4 hours on my 2005 Toyota Avalon and the labor cost would be around $350 to $400 minus parts and oild change to replace the oil pan. Is this a fair price?
I've noticed those alloy filter case caps seem to lock on if you/some-one tighten's them onto a cold engine then try to undo them at or near operating temperature. For the D.I.Yer's, Always make sure that filter spigot tube is in place in the oil filter case cap, people twist them out of place & throw them out with the old filter, put the new oil filter in the oil filter case cap & it collapses due to suction a few hundred Kilometers later resulting in a seized engine.
Would you happen to know the torque specs for the 2012 V6 Camry on the oil pan? I can’t find it online. I already swapped the pan but it’s leaking already but I used a cork gasket along with rtv but it looks like you guys didn’t use a gasket you just made one
Yes. Absolutely. Do you work for free? Have overhead? Have thousands invested in tools? Go to school for hundreds and hundreds of hours of instruction? If you want to squirm around on your back in your driveway for a weekend- that’s your business. I’d charge 600$ if I had to take your exhaust off on the v6 job as shown. If you have a 4 cylinder model, and I didn’t have to drop your exhaust it would be around 450$. But I certainly don’t work for free. This is also not a 40 minute job as the video portends it to be 🤦♂️
@@topherd1011 All your points are valid but 700 dollars for job like this isn't fair. If you are charging a customer 100 dollars an hour that would make this job 7 hours job, which actually can be done by a rookie in about 4 hours. You don't just rip off one customer to make up for the money that you spent on tools. A job like this can be done by a Walmart 20 dollars tool kit.
Sad but that extreme torque on drain plug seems to be the new norm in So Cal thanks to Valvo- Lean and all the lube Xpress style shops popping up everywhere hiring young over zealous newbies flexing their air tool (in) experience
no need to remove anything to get the oil pan to drop down... you just have to drop it turn it and it will drop down without having to remove your exhaust or anything
You do not have to remove the exhaust the problem she was having she put back the oil filter it kept her from moving the oil pan in that direction because the oil filter sits up off the motor if that oil filter was not there that will be space to move the oil pan across
There's really no point on using that little platic piece to drain the filter housing, you have to replace the filter anyways might as well just take it off all together.

Very good video. I was wondering if the oil pan studs were removed would there be enough room to remove the pan without taking the exhaust down?
This mechanic is so neat and professional and great on camera. Love her work!

would the pan drop without removing exhaust bolts if the filter is not installed ?

This Awesome clean professional work. Dealer quote for the same job is $820.
Shouldn't the gasket maker cure before the oil is added? Thank for the video!

I like watching videos with this gal. Shes very professional and does a thorough job of explaining the reasoning behind what shes doing.
Outstanding repair job. Great attention to detail and quality service. Great communication skills. Thank you.
+M Gi Thanks for the feedback!
You dont have to wait for the gasket seal to dry before adding oil? You dont have to torque the oil pan bolts to any specific tolerance?
Just loved this video All 41 minutes. Great job with much skill and care.

After you already installed how do you have to wait to get dry ? Did you put oil pan gasket? Or only the silicone thanks for your videos are great
39:50 Wow, very good tip there. I didn't know that the oil sits that long for it to drain all the way down
What is that red and black semi block thing and where can we buy it ? Thanks in advance

Typical tightening with an impact that all quick oil change shops I have been to have used.
Very good video. She explains it very well. Thanks
Cool, instructive video. Yet I am glad i have a 2001 Camry. Less hassle:)
Definitely order all my parts from 1A Auto
What did out torque the bolts to?
Does the exhaust have to come down I want to attempt this on my avensis on Jack's
It looks like you just needed to remove the oil filter instead of taking off the exhaust?
Awesome Job there i need to get mine replaced walmart done messed it up leaking at drain plug
Thank you very much, to the point, and professional way of doing it!
Great teaching method

I was told it would take 3 to 4 hours on my 2005 Toyota Avalon and the labor cost would be around $350 to $400 minus parts and oild change to replace the oil pan. Is this a fair price?
No way do it yourself that oil pan will come off without removing the exhaust she had the oil filter in the way 👌
Would the gasket that they sell work? Or is it better to do the liquid gasket?
Is it possible to change upper oil pan of 4grfse with es 350 front wheel 2gr? Does it fit bolt to bolt by default?

Remove filter and housing should make pan removal much simpler
Thanks for the comments and for watching ! +Alvin Winstead
Have you tried this, does it really work?
Seems like it
Is it necessary to remove two struts thanks 😊
Thank you very much, you just saved me $150
Will these parts work for a 2007 Camery too? SOS! Thanks!

What are the lights with the magnetic bases and positionable heads?
Superb job!! thank you ma'am!
How long was the RTV curing?
Is this a 2gr-fe same as the highlander engine

I’ve definitely over torqued a drain plug. Then 6 months later regretted it very much. Went and bought a smaller torque wrench to prevent that.
Does this apply to the 4 Cylinder as well? Or just v6?
I think this same channel or a similar one has one on that. It was like 7 minutes long. I really wish they specified lol
tip of my oil dipstick broke off on my 05 camry and is in the oil pan somewhere could this harm my engine if left in there?
Omg don't drive it ... you shouldn't start your engine
@@jesselafeer7497 It would get caught in the grill on the oil pump I'd assume. But I wouldn't leave it in there.
Why did they go back to a canister system? Its messy. Some one will make a fortune with a screw on conversion kit. Probably already have. A-1?
should you wait 24hrs for the sealant to cure?
Don't you think that the oil filter housing is in the way.
Really good stuff here 👍

Does anybody know if the lexus es350 is the same as this .
yep. Camry is the same as the es350.
I'm about to change it on my 08 es350 today.
Bro I just learned what that little plastic is for 😂 it drains the oil way cleaner than my method even then I barely spill
Great work
How about a video of replacing the sub panel
good video
Man, the repair shop was going to charge me $750 for THAT?
never trust repair shops almost everything on the Camry is a diy job

instead of emery cloth, I'm thinking ScothBrite scouring pad. Zero chance of marring the aluminum surface
I get a young lady credit pulling them oil pans off them off the v6's is a lot harder than the four cylinders
my oil pan just fooked up cuz a stupid something hit it on d highway😒

what was wrong with the oil pan?
+J D Nothing was necessarily wrong, we are just providing this video as a tutorial if something is wrong with your oil pan. 1aauto.com
This should not be 40 minutes long
Great video, but obviously not a Chicago (Midwest) vehicle... Lucky them... Lol
You would make no money as flat rate
So I gotta buy a breakah bah too!?? 😂
Take the oil filter off not the exhaust 🫣😱
Your site matches camry for the same parts as the avalon
These parts do not match
I wish i can afford to use an entire can of brake clean to clean my filter housing :\
Lesson for today... torque spec 😂😂
are u serious exaust has to come out my bolt strip
To many extra steps
$700
I think they could’ve just taken off the cartridge filter and it’d come off meaning the pan.
