I think Lorelai slept with Christopher because she wanted a reason to let Luke go. They did not communicate at all when Luke found out he had a daughter suddenly he couldn't share that part of his life with Lorelei. I thought that was crazy he was engaged to her. He didn't even know the little girl but he'd known Lorelei for years and now he can't trust her with his daughter that that did not make sense. I don't blame Lorelai for moving on. Luke made things far too complicated for himself and Lorelei. I think at this point Lorelei was tired of broken relationships.

@@AryBerry85 the thing is not that Luke wanted to wait to get married, she understood the situation since she asked the same thing bcz of Rory. the problem is that he was constantly pushing her away from his life with April, until he reached the moment when he literally said he didn't want her to get involved. That and the fact that when she finally takes courage and organizes the preparations for the wedding, it stays only on paper and the life she saw with him becomes more and more dysfunctional, this made her feel extremely sad in that relationship.

Lukes lines was so good but I’m on Lorelai on this. Luke showed Lorelai that he doesn’t want her in her daughters life which is so not right. Loreai is a great mom and his fiancee. He should’ve included her. He didn’t even tell her for two months. thats long to kept it a secret.
I hate everything about this because I love Luke BUT Lorelai did right by him because he was honest which is what Luke deserves. She messsed up but if she kept the Christopher thing a secret and got back with Luke, then it would have been a disaster when Luke found out. I think Lorelei ran to Christopher becuase she finally let her guard down is asking luke to marry her and when she felt rejected,she looked for validation from the man that in theory, should have been hers.

I gotta say, I think he did deserve it. When he treats his fiance like that -- concealing his daughter from her, shoving her away until he needed help because he was too stupid to organize a decent birthday party, etc. etc. -- he can't complain if she turns to someone else for comfort. Lorelai's the second woman who cheats on Luke despite being very much in love with him (and frankly, I don’t think what Lorelai or Nicole does really constitutes cheating). Luke might want to ask himself why he's driving women to do that.

I think she did it so she wouldn’t be able to back out of the breakup with Luke. At the end of their relationship, she was miserable, but kept pretending like everything was okay. Every time she was about to act, somethign came up and Luke couldn’t understand that it wasn’t just little things she was hurting over. Unless she had slept with him, Luke would have kept trying to get back together, and Lorelai couldn’t take it anymore. She had to make sure that he understood how done she was with being hurt. I get why Lorelai slept with Chris, but it was heartbreaking to watch as a viewer. I think they needed the time apart for Luke to realize how much she truly meant to him because he definitely took her for granted toward the end of their relationship. Sure, he had a lot going on with April, but there was no excuse for how he treated her, and she was simply tired of feeling neglected. In addition, the separation helped her realize that Chris was not the man for her so she could finally stop wondering "what if."

The whole April storyline should never have happened. It made apsolutely no sense. No. 1. It happened to close to the end of the series. It only created more drama that show didn't need. That show had way to much drama. No. 2. If they were going to go that route when Racheal came back in the first season she should have had Lukes son with her. Because why should Luke have been cheated out if having a son. Because Luke and Lorelai weren't together then and it wouldn't have been all about the Gilmore Girls.
Lorelai is the most at fault in this situation. She never talked to Luke about how she felt about him spending more time with April than her. Then she gave him an ultimatum which was stupid because she couldn't wait and talk to him about setting a new date for the wedding. She never should have gone to Christopher (or married him later) Luke deserves better than the way she acted the last half of season 6.

I agree that Lorelai messed up with the whole Christopher thing but Luke didn't treat Lorelai properly when April came into the picture. An example is after Christopher calls Lorelai and they fight Luke tells her that they have to be honest with one another for the relationship to work (which is fair) but he then he doesn't tell Lorelai about April (season 6 episode 9 The Prodigal Daughter Returns)
This guy waited and pined for her for EIGHT YEARS!!!! Lorelei couldn't wait around for him for ONE YEAR. A daughter enters the picture and yes, he didn't handle the situation correctly with Lorelei but look at his overall character from the beginning of the show to the end of the reunion: Luke gave his absolute BEST to everyone he cared about in the best way he knew how. He was a great surrogate father to Rory and when he found about April, he wanted to be a great biological father to her. As for Lorelei's character: selfish and spoiled and everything had to be at her pace.
This is the saddest thing I have ever seen while watching the show. Luke and Lorelai were PERFECT together, I love Lorelai but I'm so mad at her for sleeping with Chris. Since season 1 I wanted Luke and Lorelai to get married, and now their relationship is over.
I started watching this, but when I realized what it was I had to stop. Saddest moment of the show for me. I just keep imagining how great it would be if she hadn't slept with Christopher, and she could have said yes.
This all goes back to what Anna said to Lor. Luke started to include her at April’s bday party. Then Anna walked in the next day and went off on Luke about not letting her know Lor would be there, etc. etc. which prompted Lor to go see Anna and Anna gave her the whole spiel about “being engaged is not being married” and “needing to know the people around her daughter”. This added to Lor’s already mounting insecurities about Luke postponing their wedding. after that convo w Anna..Lor started dodging Luke and didn’t even talk to him for a couple of days...Then comes blurts out an ultimatum!!! Serious communication issues w these two. She was wrong to go to Chris. But that loser will take any scrap of her Lor gives him! Hate that guy! Team Luke!!!

Nah... I'd say that the show started it's descent into badness when April appeared on the scene (Rory-lite). The contrived, badly-written drama ruined Luke and Lorelai from that point on. Lorelai sleeping with Christopher was just the cherry on top.
@XshamosasX I think she wanted to understand but he just wouldn't let her. He found out he had a daughter and he was lost and confuse on how to handle the situation. The thing is that he didn't want Lorelai to be a part of handling the situation and figuring it out. And she wanted to but was forced away by Luke. April was getting in between them because he was letting her get in between them. Understandable as well since HE wants to get closer to April.
The show really went downhill after season 5. Seasons 3-5 were my favorite. And then something changed in the writing, and even in the acting. Scott Patterson still does a good job, but Lorelai and Rory's characters just seem so different.
I wish I can just go in the past and specifically go into this show and run to Lorelai right after she had the breakup with Luke that night, telling her its gonna be ok and to go home and wait 3 days because he will be there for you then😂

When Lorelai wanted to wait because of Rory, Luke was completely fine with it but when Luke wanted to wait because of Rachel, Lorelai became pissed. And the worst thing is, she never told him. She just never told him that she disliked this plan, that she felt that way. Communication is key, how could he have known? He was completely overwhelmed already. This was completely Lorelai‘s fault even if Luke made a few mistakes. These mistakes can be easily dismissed as his situation is a very very complicated one that we all don’t know what we would do about.

I know Luke did wrong by keeping April a secret and then treating Lorelei wrong by not wanting her around and such, but in his defense he had just found out he had a kid!!! That is a lot for someone to take in. Lorelei should've been a good woman and stood by him, also communication is key she should've told him how she felt. She is ready for the "next phase", she wants to get married and have more children, and then because Luke hasn't heard from her in like a week and is taken aback by her sudden appearance, she sleeps with Christopher. Yeah, because that's the mature thing to do for someone who wants the "next phase" in their life. SMH.

Her problem with Luke was much more than that, it had everything to do with the fact that he kept pushing her away from his life with April and postponing and postponing the wedding, I think anyone would be sad in a situation like this. I don't get how sleeping with Christopher changes everything. She did not cheat on Luke because they technically were broken up at the time. This show is based on the life of fucked up girls. Gilmore girls appear to have a huge problem in relationships. The way Lorelai left the door open for Chris to come in and out as he pleases and to treat her like a doormat was unbelievable. I couldn’t accept less mess from Rory especially with her grandparents always on her side and with everyone treating her as if she is too good of a person. When she slept with Dean is when I lost any faith in her future. I though enjoy how unique this messy characters behave or how they live their lives. Quite interesting.

The whole April storyline should never have happened. It made apsolutely no sense. No. 1. It happened to close to the end of the series. It only created more drama that show didn't need. That show had way to much drama. No. 2. If they were going to go that route when Racheal came back in the first season she should have had Lukes son with her. Because why should Luke have been cheated out if having a son. Because Luke and Lorelai weren't together then and it wouldn't have been all about the Gilmore Girls.

Lorelai is the most at fault in this situation. She never talked to Luke about how she felt about him spending more time with April than her. Then she gave him an ultimatum which was stupid because she couldn't wait and talk to him about setting a new date for the wedding. She never should have gone to Christopher (or married him later) Luke deserves better than the way she acted the last half of season 6.

I agree that Lorelai messed up with the whole Christopher thing but Luke didn't treat Lorelai properly when April came into the picture. An example is after Christopher calls Lorelai and they fight Luke tells her that they have to be honest with one another for the relationship to work (which is fair) but he then he doesn't tell Lorelai about April (season 6 episode 9 The Prodigal Daughter Returns)
He treated her like crap, he was always the negative one, always judging everything and he put her in the last place.
This guy waited and pined for her for EIGHT YEARS!!!! Lorelei couldn't wait around for him for ONE YEAR. A daughter enters the picture and yes, he didn't handle the situation correctly with Lorelei but look at his overall character from the beginning of the show to the end of the reunion: Luke gave his absolute BEST to everyone he cared about in the best way he knew how. He was a great surrogate father to Rory and when he found about April, he wanted to be a great biological father to her. As for Lorelei's character: selfish and spoiled and everything had to be at her pace.
This absolutely broke me. I had never felt this much pain. I cried for a hour over this one scene. Lorelai needed to get her crap together.
This is the saddest thing I have ever seen while watching the show. Luke and Lorelai were PERFECT together, I love Lorelai but I'm so mad at her for sleeping with Chris. Since season 1 I wanted Luke and Lorelai to get married, and now their relationship is over.

This all goes back to what Anna said to Lor. Luke started to include her at April’s bday party. Then Anna walked in the next day and went off on Luke about not letting her know Lor would be there, etc. etc. which prompted Lor to go see Anna and Anna gave her the whole spiel about “being engaged is not being married” and “needing to know the people around her daughter”. This added to Lor’s already mounting insecurities about Luke postponing their wedding. after that convo w Anna..Lor started dodging Luke and didn’t even talk to him for a couple of days...Then comes blurts out an ultimatum!!! Serious communication issues w these two. She was wrong to go to Chris. But that loser will take any scrap of her Lor gives him! Hate that guy! Team Luke!!!

loreli was off for a week for whatever reason ,she rants to luke and then just walked off not giving him much of a chance to say anything,then drives over to the ex sleeps with him and when luke showed up talking about elope plans she just looked sorry for it.yes he shouldnt have pushed her away but he did try and she broke his heart when she admitted she slept with someone else

Nah... I'd say that the show started it's descent into badness when April appeared on the scene (Rory-lite). The contrived, badly-written drama ruined Luke and Lorelai from that point on. Lorelai sleeping with Christopher was just the cherry on top.

The thing is that he didn't want Lorelai to be a part of handling the situation and figuring it out. And she wanted to but was forced away by Luke. April was getting in between them because he was letting her get in between them. Understandable as well since HE wants to get closer to April.

The show really went downhill after season 5. Seasons 3-5 were my favorite. And then something changed in the writing, and even in the acting. Scott Patterson still does a good job, but Lorelai and Rory's characters just seem so different.

When Lorelai wanted to wait because of Rory, Luke was completely fine with it but when Luke wanted to wait because of Rachel, Lorelai became pissed. And the worst thing is, she never told him. She just never told him that she disliked this plan, that she felt that way. Communication is key, how could he have known? He was completely overwhelmed already.
This was completely Lorelai‘s fault even if Luke made a few mistakes. These mistakes can be easily dismissed as his situation is a very very complicated one that we all don’t know what we would do about.

I know Luke did wrong by keeping April a secret and then treating Lorelei wrong by not wanting her around and such, but in his defense he had just found out he had a kid!!! That is a lot for someone to take in. Lorelei should've been a good woman and stood by him, also communication is key she should've told him how she felt. I will never forgive her for being a whore and running off and sleeping with Christopher! Luke deserved better than that.

if you're just watching this just to watch it don't because you're driving Lorelei for the wrong reason. yes there was good times was in Luke and Lorelai before and after April came into his life. but the way he treated her when she came in to his life was wrong. he didn't think it was good enough or the right time to meet his fiance the woman he was going to marry the woman that was going to be her stepmother. no I don't think so character of April was a mistake I think the way that the character Luke handled it and the way that he treated Lorelai for it before and after telling her about April that is wrong. yes she set the date for the way she planned the whole wedding with Sookie. she just wanted to get married she knew he was the one and then he messed it up to yes he shouldn't have treated her the way he did regarding his daughter and I don't know if this is the episode or not where she sleeps with Christopher but he kept pushing her away and Christopher was always that soft; spot that safe spot to go to. but I'm happy that they are together. Lorelai tells the psychiatrist that she has never loved anyone until Luke. She is ready for the "next phase", she wants to get married and have more children, and then because Luke hasn't heard from her in like a week and is taken aback by her sudden appearance, she sleeps with Christopher. Yeah, because that's the mature thing to do for someone who wants the "next phase" in their life. SMH.
I don't think u watched the show at all or understood what happend. Her problem with Luke was much more than that, it had everything to do with the fact that he kept pushing her away from his life with April and postponing and postponing the wedding, I think anyone would be sad in a situation like this. However, in fact, sleeping with Christopher in that impulsive way was the worst she could have done.
She was that disappointed with him at the dinner bcz the wedding never seemed to arrive and he kept putting her in that awful position in relation to April. She was desperate for a position and I really understand her side a lot, no one would want to feel that way.

If Luke really wanted her, he would have said something like that does not matter. He is allowed to be peeved but he could say let's work through it and plan a trip for a week or month and get hitched. Lorelai was tired of waiting, she was a free woman she went and seeked comfort in Chris. As long as it is not cheating it should not be a big problem.

Honestly, I was annoyed that a car had to go through the wall of his diner for him to get it together with this. I love Luke, but he awful leading up to Lorelai's ultimatum. Even if she hadn't slept with Christopher, I don't know that he really understood enough of where he went wrong for them to have been able to elope.
This show is based on the life of fucked up girls. Gilmore girls appear to have a huge problem in relationships. The way Lorelai left the door open for Chris to come in and out as he pleases and to treat her like a doormat was unbelievable. I couldn’t accept less mess from Rory especially with her grandparents always on her side and with everyone treating her as if she is too good of a person. When she slept with Dean is when I lost any faith in her future. I though enjoy how unique this messy characters behave or how they live their lives. Quite interesting.

she cheated alot though from both ends, and played with them. and sleeps with a new one the second she breaks up with another. plus she did date and sleep with a ton of others, she just stated she didnt do it at home. and rory often mentioned guys in the form of nicknames. when she slept with chris before sukie's wedding he hadnt even broken up with sherry yet, he was planning on doing so. and the town also always joke about the crazy guys she's dated and how she cant keep anyone. i like lorelai's sarcasm and her passions for things but i also always found her a slut and a bad example
