She had been at dinner with her parents but it was after the conversation with the therapist that she knew it was time. She was unhappy in her relationship and she needed to do something about, so she did. 8) We should all care about ourselves and our happiness. Why stay in a relationship if you are not happy. Move on and find someone else who can give you what you want/need. That's a lot better than trying to change the other person to be someone they are not to please you. 9) She doesn't need Chris or Luke, or anyone else, to give her the freedom to be happy and enjoy her own life.

She didn't actually tell Luke how upset she was that he kept April hidden and even after, she didn't really tell him how upset she was that she couldn't have contact with April (I also really hated Anna... I get not wanting someone random in your daughters life but a) she didn't tell Luke about April even though he had a right to be a father, and b) she overreacted to Lorelai being at April's party). Not that Luke handled things correctly at all, I'm just saying Lorelai should have communicated her frustration from the beginning, instead of issuing an ultimatum and going straight to sleeping with Christopher. Either way, I really disliked the whole April thing and the way the characters handled it. I still don't understand what the writers were thinking.
Personally, Lorelai didn't deserve Luke or any guy she was with. She seemed to enjoy keeping them at arms length and didn't want to change any part of her life for them when they seemed to change everything for her sake. Everything has to surround Lorelai, she has to be at the center of the world and I don't like that. I loved this show as a kid but as an adult I'm seeing things so differently. Lorelai is selfish and Rory is spoiled.

I think we all forget that Luke randomly found out about this child and wanted to make up for the years he missed and get everything right. all he needed was a bit of time to see that he was handling things wrongly and then maybe he would have accepted lorelai's help with April but at the start he wasn't prepared that's all.

That’s one of the things I don’t like about Lorelei, she wanted things when she wanted them and she didn’t care about anyone else’s feelings. Don’t get me wrong it was wrong for Luke not to tell Lorelei about April in the first place and him not wanting Lorelei to help with April was at least a little understanding but she should have given Luke the time to sort things out himself. Finding out just weeks ago that you have a twelve year old daughter is a big deal, yes Luke should have told her and maybe they could have dealt with it together instead of Luke pushing Lorelei away.

The situation with Rory and April are totally different. Lorelai would have waited for the wedding if the problem was only bcz Luke was trying to build a relationship with April (which i think is a totally bs excuse, i don't see how him marrying Lorelai would be a problem for that bcz as she said, April had to fit into their lives, not the other way around). The main problem was that Luke was pushing her away from his life with April (something that she never did to him, the problem was only between Rory and her and even before that, we all know that Luke was practically her father) and Anna as well, and it hurt her. It would hurt everybody in the same position, imagine being with somebody who doesn't make a effort to build a life with you (bcz that's what he was doing). So, my point is, even tho i have a lot of criticism to make about Lorelai, i am totally with her in this matter. I've seen a lot of people judge her for the way she handled this situation (the sleepover at Christopher's is a story for another paragraph lol) but i think we should put ourselves at her place and see how we would feel.
