Coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan...injured both physically and mentally...I turned to alcohol and drugs to numb the pain. I only have 7 years clean and sober but this song is my anthem. Dax...you are saving lives and giving us a voice...thanks man.

From another perspective... I grew up in a war zone due to an abusive, alcoholic Father. When these videos started, I was just a few months leaving a relationship with an alcoholic partner. I was so angry. Watching these videos, hearing the words of so many... brought me to ugly cries every time. I was able to find understanding, empathy and feelings other than anger. This helped me to remember the love that had once existed, let go of regret and HEAL. I would never go back because the abuse was too much. But, I don't linger in the bad feelings and I really believe I was able to work through this because of THIS project and the divine timing! Thank you Dax and all contributors! ❤

You can do it. I don't care if your Christian or not. And I'm not one to push Christ (not religion) but He still loves you no matter what. He didn't die for you for nothing, he died because he loves you, your sins are as far as the east is from west, you just have to accept him to your heart. I know in some places they talk about "higher power" and all that. But It's Jesus. You're not alone. I struggle everyday. Fixing my mistakes is like trying trying to build a house out of ashes. But you can't give up, you can't give up on yourself. But but always know you can overcome. Some days it would be so much easier to just slip back into the long-grown habits, the addictions, the shell. I absolutely love this song, I lost my uncle to alcohol and I almost had an addiction because of trauma I was going through thankfully I realized it was a problem before it got worse. This song makes me cry but also makes me sing my heart out. I play it on repeat on really bad days. It's been 3 years since I even touched alcohol.

Me and my wife are going through some hard times, lost our house, been daily drinking since January, hard to see the other side, I've been listening to this song daily for the last month, and here I am 3 weeks sober, these guys feelings are so raw and almost send me to tears hearing everyone's stories. This song was a realization for me. My substance was never alcohol rather I was a m€+h addict. Far as I can see it addiction is addiction. Me and my habits were hurting the people I loved and I was so blinded I never realized it. I truly understood this fact when I seen everybody sharing their experiences with the world. Cleaning up the acts that chain us and enslave us is one of the most selfless acts we can commit. 41 year old mechanic in small town Michigan, step father of 3 beautiful kids. My wife has been in the hospital the last week recovering from a crushed vertebrae. And as i lay here sleepless trying to figure out how im going to hold everything together i stumped across this song and it was like the thoughts in my head put to music. Still drying my eyes but not feeling so alone thanks to all the artists involved and everyone else that commented here. DAX and so many others like him on this platform don't get near the respect thy deserve. Society needs more folks like this.... true human beings.

I've listened to this more time than I can count. It's still a comfort in a way to remind myself I'm not the only one that's going through it. 7 years clean (dealers choice opiates/benzos/methamphetamine). Some of those demons are still lingering. I hit bottom when I started hating the drugs more than I hated myself. That was only going to end one way and then the realization came that having kids meant that it wasn't my life to take.
@@OvelNick I have two kids myself. Sole caretaker. Their dad got clean with me, then walked away after our youngest was born last year. I ended up relapsing because of it. My mom kept my kids. I ran out one day, and starting coming down hard, then I realized what the fuck I was doing, i came back home and took care of them while detoxing myself. Been sober since for them. I struggle with it everyday, but I don't let the addiction win. My kids deserve better than that. One step at a time.

From another perspective... I grew up in a war zone due to an abusive, alcoholic Father. When these videos started, I was just a few months leaving a relationship with an alcoholic partner. I was so angry. Watching these videos, hearing the words of so many... brought me to ugly cries every time. I was able to find understanding, empathy and feelings other than anger. This helped me to remember the love that had once existed, let go of regret and HEAL. I would never go back because the abuse was too much. But, I don't linger in the bad feelings and I really believe I was able to work through this because of THIS project and the divine timing! Thank you Dax and all contributors! ❤

Some days it would be so much easier to just slip back into the long-grown habits, the addictions, the shell. But those habits/addictions/shells didn't help us or bring us true joy, and slipping back into them still won't.
Keep your chin up. Keep striving. Give yourself some grace. Show those grandbabies how much grit you got, and that love can buoy us.

I absolutely love this song, I lost my uncle to alcohol and I almost had an addiction because of trauma I was going through thankfully I realized it was a problem before it got worse. This song makes me cry but also makes me sing my heart out. I play it on repeat on really bad days. It's been 3 years since I even touched alcohol.

This song was a realization for me. My substance was never alcohol rather I was a m€+h addict. Far as I can see it addiction is addiction. Me and my habits were hurting the people I loved and I was so blinded I never realized it. I truly understood this fact when I seen everybody sharing their experiences with the world. Cleaning up the acts that chain us and enslave us is one of the most selfless acts we can commit. To everyone struggling with addiction no matter what it is; I believe in you and your ability to overcome.

I've listened to this more time than I can count. It's still a comfort in a way to remind myself I'm not the only one that's going through it. 7 years clean (dealers choice opiates/benzos/methamphetamine). Some of those demons are still lingering. I hit bottom when I started hating the drugs more than I hated myself. That was only going to end one way and then the realization came that having kids meant that it wasn't my life to take.
@@OvelNick I have two kids myself. Sole caretaker. Their dad got clean with me, then walked away after our youngest was born last year. I ended up relapsing because of it. My mom kept my kids. I ran out one day, and starting coming down hard, then I realized what the fuck I was doing, i came back home and took care of them while detoxing myself. Been sober since for them. I struggle with it everyday, but I don't let the addiction win. My kids deserve better than that. One step at a time.
