Im trying to get sober. I know its corny, but you're not alone. This song helped my brother get sober, and now im using it to do the same thing. I feel horrible and its easier to stay drunk, but its it's better if we dont do that. Its really fun untill you wake up with that hangover tyen you think, "I'll never do it again", but you do even though its bad for you.

41 year old mechanic in small town Michigan, step father of 3 beautiful kids. My wife has been in the hospital the last week recovering from a crushed vertebrae. And as i lay here sleepless trying to figure out how im going to hold everything together i stumped across this song and it was like the thoughts in my head put to music. As a 70 year old woman, believe me I can relate to all the words being sung. I’m still in pain, no amount of therapy makes the pain go away like escaping into the bottle of wine or whiskey. Recently, I was told I have liver issues, now my decision is to let it kill me, or change. I had to be mother and father to 3 small children, and the whole time I did nothing, no weed, no alcohol, no pills, just raw feelings from all the abuse of others, from a little girl to a grown woman. Now, I’m alone in my feelings with weed and alcohol. I say this to say take care of yourself before you wake up one day to look in the mirror and see 70, and the pain is still in your eyes.

From another perspective... I grew up in a war zone due to an abusive, alcoholic Father. When these videos started, I was just a few months leaving a relationship with an alcoholic partner. I was so angry. Watching these videos, hearing the words of so many... brought me to ugly cries every time. I was able to find understanding, empathy and feelings other than anger. This helped me to remember the love that had once existed, let go of regret and HEAL. I would never go back because the abuse was too much. But, I don't linger in the bad feelings and I really believe I was able to work through this because of THIS project and the divine timing! Thank you Dax and all contributors! ❤

I will start about 1974 when the thought first came to me about faking my death. I have always been fascinated with the occult and other spiritual things. When I first saw a wax dummy of myself made by a Mr. Cooper I was fascinated with it. For some time I had thought if it was possible? Could I pull this thing off? I had asked Mr Cooper if he could make another wax dummy for me. He said he could. I in turn said I wanted him to do it and keep it strictly confidential. Many of my friends would ask if I were still alive and they have their doubts but as it was I might have died broke and just a shell of myself. But it did and I became Jesse, just a poor white southern boy who didn't sing a lick of anything. I feel bad my Daddy wasn't allowed to know but it just couldn't be done. I probably already commented this but here it is Nov 26, 2023 and I am still listening to this song. 3 years ago it was to help release the tears I was keeping inside while going through a divorce while it seemed like nobody really cared or wasn't aware of the demons inside I was fighting. This song helped me feel like I wasn't alone.
3 years later I listen so that I remember what ive overcome as I survived and I am happily engaged to the love of my life.

My daughter introduced me to Dax, this is the first song I heard from him, it's like he said everything that I wanted to. I have been "getting wasted" since I was 17yo I am 56, I want to thank my daughter and Dax because I have made the decision to enter treatment and they both helped me. Even though I will miss Christmas I am leaving tomorrow

I've listened to this more time than I can count. It's still a comfort in a way to remind myself I'm not the only one that's going through it. 7 years clean (dealers choice opiates/benzos/methamphetamine). Some of those demons are still lingering. I hit bottom when I started hating the drugs more than I hated myself. That was only going to end one way and then the realization came that having kids meant that it wasn't my life to take.
@@OvelNick I have two kids myself. Sole caretaker. Their dad got clean with me, then walked away after our youngest was born last year. I ended up relapsing because of it. My mom kept my kids. I ran out one day, and starting coming down hard, then I realized what the fuck I was doing, i came back home and took care of them while detoxing myself. Been sober since for them. I struggle with it everyday, but I don't let the addiction win. My kids deserve better than that. One step at a time.

Why do we believe feelings are for the weak? It’s ok to cry… it’s ok to be mad… it’s ok to be happy … it’s ok to be scared.. you’re more of a man to accept this can make you cry for all sorts of reasons and to stand up and testify it for anyone here to see is brave. It’s just showing your soul. I don’t see anything you should be ashamed of my friend. My tears flowed too. Love is also an emotion as much as a connection. The people that say emotions are for the weak are weak themselves because they can’t handle it they hide from it and turn cold. Now of course you must know how to control and use it in its purpose do not live with emotions that control you. Always use your head.

I was an alcoholic and stopped drinking when i had my first son 11yrs ago and the min i heard this song it has helped me me keep my streak. I am now a mother of 3 now and they need me. Also a grade 3 brain cancer survivor. @Dax thank u for making such a huge impact like u r. I wish other artists wud get onboard with it and stop making crap songs.

Long song, but i woke up in rehab after about 17 years of long prison time and addiction . I want to reach out to your guys in early addiction, it's dangerous to not get help, and i was one of those people not willing to sober up. I ended up hurting someone in a high speed, she was 89 years old and about died. By the grace of God she made it. Im in rehab and avoided prison and that should hit someone close to home. Its not 2 late to get help : )

This song hits me hard in my heart. When my mother passed away I reached for the bottle and opioids to kill the pain. If it wasn't for my wife and 2 children I wouldn't be here today. I have never heard of Dax until yesterday when my 29 year old daughter introduced me to him and his music. I have already saved a dozen of his songs to my music library and each of them hits my heart. Keep up the awesome music.
