I used to have a Troy-Built and we completely wore it out in just a year, and it was way to slow, And besides we bust wood from eight inches all the way up to twenty plus inches, so the log lift is a must, this machine is built to last for a life time, and it is solid iron, unlike some of its rivals which only has some iron.
I just bought mine for $5,100+shipping and tax. If you're going to buy a wood splitter, this one is second to none! Real iron construction, the real deal!

No, I just believe in the LS2526, its really great, but I did get rid of the first splitter, because it was showing wear and was to slow, and things on it started to break. I needed something that was more productive and can lift big logs and the four way too, and heaver duty. It used to take about an hour to split a truck load with the old Troy-Built, now I split around a cord and half (three truck loads) in an hour, give or take.
Actually mine has earned me around $8,000-$12,000 a year! I'm on my third year with mine, nice side money, and great way to turn a dollar off the wood that comes down from our tree jobs. And our first year, we sold and delivered 202 racks of wood, to 63 customers which is (25 1/2) cord, $8,025.00 And at the end of March we are going to stock up at least 50 cords(400 racks) which will bring me $15,000+, because we sell by the rack or by the truck load!
This isn't a machine designed for homeowners. This is for people who use (which would ammount to abuse on a homeowner special) splitters for a living on a daily basis. They need a bullet proof machine that works day in and out, and capable of splitting anything put on it. It's not worth 6k for the homeowner, but it can be for a firewood processer owner.
Machines that have a lift like this are one reason why I engineered a much better lift that can lift many logs at once and save running back and forth to the pile. One of my designs can lift 25 logs at once . Plus my pushing block is three times the size of this one .
Much more then that now since my comment , now have a patented NO WEDGE safe split to fit any wood/log splitter today and engineered models for off road use. Look up on the net inventor Walter Rodler .

I think thats a bit pricey,Searse 27 ton vertical spliter no lifting or bending over under 1ooo dollars.
