    Nicely designed and fabricated. It took the last round of 30 inches or more and didn’t hesitate!!! Well done!!

    I plan on doing the same thing this summer. I showed my buddy this video over the winter and told him let's do it. I priced everything out and it comes to 1k, without a nine trailer like that. I found this video a few years ago and have always wanted to make this unit.

    You sir have convinced me to stay with the traditional log splitter, with a few mapped out goodies such as that back saver pal I'm a believer in the horizontal log splitter thank's.

    Just have to say that this is the best log splitter I've ever seen and quite inspiring. I had almost decided not to build my own when I ran across this video. This is very well thought out. I wish you had plans available for it. Thanks so much, Ryan

    Very nice machine for this job.
    One thing I am worry about this size because if you see those lift, it would be hard to transport because it get little wider if it put up during tow session.

    Nice job, it does look store bought quality. I might make one of these for my next project, it looks right up my street! Homemade is best for sure!

    Fine looking splitter you have built there, need to do another video on it so we can see any changes you have made. I'm planning to build one myself and like you have looking at what's on the tube to get ideas. Thanks for sharing your video.

    very nice, and i bet the 4 way wedge is much faster. only small improvement could be to put the controls on the same side as the loading side, and maybe there isn't room for that.

    This is a great splitter that you designed there! I really like the log lift. I will make one similar to yours. I have a piece of 8x10 rectangular tube that was given to me, so I will use it as a combo base and hydraulic oil reservoir. Also will use Aeroquip reusable hydraulic hose fittings for an instant spares program. Well done!

    Thats a real nice build. Very solid looking. You get a great sense of acheivment building something like this. In that way, its alot better than a store bought unit. Well done from England!

    Excellent job on the splitter. Sounds like that Tucker-Tucker-Tucker-Tecumseh engine is missing.

  • @timlebsack
    @timlebsack 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a fine piece of work. I was a bit concerned that the log lifter was rolling the log towards the operator but it looks like that will not be an issue. This sure looks a lot easier to use than my family's standard upright model requiring some serious manhandling of that wood.

    A very neat and effective machine. I like it a lot.
    Perhaps a spring loaded stop plate opposite the lifter would be useful, so that the lifter could be used to centre the logs, without the need to man-handle them.

    Bonus for the more aggressive splitting wedge angle. I use a PTO and have it very aggressive. Most of the time I only need send the chunk a third of the way until it splits completely...VERY much unlike all the other splitters using a flat sheet of metal

    I don't understand why pple that build these things don't put the splitting wedge on the ram and eliminate the need to keep moving the wood back to split again. Except for that it's a good looking well built machine and works well.

    Nice design and build. Even better was the willingness to carefully enumerate and describe the features and wind up the vid with patience. Oh how often a 6 or 7 minute vid shows 5 or 6 minutes of splitting and a sentence or two. Thumbs up!!

    You made a really nice unit there! I really like the log lift and table, I need one on my splitter. When I made mine it was a real pain to grind down the wedge to a point, how did you get yours sharp?

    Great job on the splitter,the important parts are overbuilt very nicely....the only 2 changes I'd made would be to use an 11 or 13 hp engine with a 22 gpm pump,that 5 inch cylinder is too slow with a 16 gpm.also the log lift,it's awesome but your forced to run around your log pile to use it there has to be a better way...Great job on the build,especially since you built it out of your shed,my estimate is you have 250 hrs into it easily depending on what cutting and welding tools you have.

  • @scfolks864
    @scfolks864 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    why did you use a two stage pump vs. a single stage pump. you would have had faster cycle times with the single stage pump.

  • @phindele

    Really great splitter and build!! Really gave me some ideas if you read this what size is the trailer you made and the tires sizes you used and I heard you say 2x2 tubing to build the frame but 2x2x???? tubing? Im asking cause I like this style set up gonna make mine after it :).

  • @Micaville_Mountain_Man

  • @geraldc3654
    @geraldc3654 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice splitter for young people. If those wings past wedge traveled with wedge would be great, and a swivel boom with electric winch using timber dogs to lift wood would be great for old folks. How will you back be after 5 years of lifting those big pieces ??

  • @geraldc3654
    @geraldc3654 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    for 5" cylinder could use 17 hp engine with 28 gal 2 stage pump for a nice speed. Think what a sliding plate on each side of wedge moving split wood back to operator would do to save any ones back after about 100 pieces split.
