This was done a lot in the 1830-40s in Paris and elsewhere in Europe. Chopin, Liszt, Alkan, Thalberg and many other virtuoso pianists of the day worked together and performed 4 and 8 handed, playing piano transcriptions of Beethoven and other composers. What a time. The individual pianists all function like orchestra members, but lack a conductor, quite a challenge. Great to see this performance style today! Thank you!
