    I am glad you tried this casserole. I was a Cafeteria manager for 15 years. We made this every so often. We used pizza dough sheets for the crust. Taco seasoned beef. In the mayo sour cream mixture we added diced onion and lots more shredded American cheese. Sliced tomatoes to me are not necessary even though we used them too. We usually made 300 servings of this and it took sll morning to prepare. You can look up the recipe by searching for School recipes for John Wayne Casserole.

      I think pizza dough sheets would work better 😃

    I plan to fix this, but I am going to use flour tortillas instead of the biscuit dough. And, instead of the layering, I think I will mix it all together and bake. It looks delicious!

    A slight variation on your taco nachos in the oven, just with biscuits and some additional toppings. Looks good but I prefer your version. Thanks for the review.

    I'd use jalapenos because banana peppers aren't spicy enough for me. I most likely would also have it with habanero sauce. I might cook the biscuits separately and serve them on the side.

  • @luabuzaid

    the mezzetta brand that makes pickled peppers and olives has a version of pickled jalapenos that's called Tamed jalapenos. They are much less hot than other canned or jarred jalapenos..i believe they remove much of the seeds in them. they are spicy but not crazy hot and so delicous!

    Great casserole to make for a family visit n game night. Looks so good. Can serve tortilla chips, a
    Sauce n queso with it. Yummy.
    Thank you so much for baking this up for us. Don’t worry about the biscuits. Nit came out perfect and no one would ever know anything else. Kudos! (Your chopped meat looked so fresh and red).

    I’m like you. I would leave the biscuits out. But if you did use them, it might help to actually roll them out like dough even though recipe didn’t say that. Rolling them would make them thin and might not use all the biscuits. Probably wouldn’t be as bready but I just wouldn’t use them. Love all your videos but especially the cooking ones.

    I think I'd want the biscuits as there would be no carb with it. A better option would be to just make it all without the biscuits, and then put a scoop on rice 👍🏼

    • @TamiDunn

  • @BeatlesandWebkinz

    Though it obviously doesn't work in this, I love those whole pepperoncini peppers. They're not hot at all, but they're incredibly pleasing to eat lol.
    And I don't think it matters if the biscuits got layered in all sloppy, since once it's under all of the meat and stuff you don't see it anyway. 🤷‍♀

    • @TamiDunn
      @TamiDunn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Next time, I would leave out the biscuits & just dip tortilla chips 😃

  • @tornad0chaser
    @tornad0chaser ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there really enough Taco flavor? Because I know to make tacos you're supposed to use one packet per pound. Since you used two pounds I just wondered if the taco flavored came through enough. But looks good and I think I'll try to make it without the peppers. Also are you still considering making some Jell-O pudding pops? 😂
    One other thing instead of biscuits I'm thinking a good base would be those new midnight Taco Doritos! 😋

    • @TamiDunn
      @TamiDunn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree! I would not use biscuits again. You could definitely use another taco packet.

    I would do like you and change things to fit my tastes… my version of this however woukd have so many changes I couldn’t call it John Wayne casserole… lol I’d use rice instead of biscuits, green bell peppers instead of jalapeños and canned diced tomatoes instead of fresh ones… lol

    Do you think pre baking the biscuits is necessary? Because for the Fiesta casserole I believe you just baked everything at once.

    • @TamiDunn

      I wouldn’t use biscuits again. I would either use tortilla chips or pizza dough.

    The recipe says it’s 12 servings and with 2 pounds of ground beef that makes sense but I’d add sone extra veggies if I really wanted 12 servings…
