Love that you are collecting RC10's. A nice change from the Tamiya cars for sure. I think you should add an original RC10T to the collection next. The original RC10T is one of my favorite rc's of all time.

i still have my rc10t3! i wanted the b3, but it was sold out everywhere and i got the t3 instead. i put a brushless motor in it recently and destroyed the seal on one of the bearings... waiting on some new bearings, but i love my rc10!!!!

that's the same speed control in my car... i removed it for the brushless motor and put it in a super hornet i found in the wild in 2004!

I loved the LRP Quantam ESC. I had a couple of them. I raced a truck using 10 turn motors. They never wavered.

I know it's not vintage correct, but the lite blue body with the yellow rims on the B2 looks really great. I have never heard such an extensive breakdown of R/C 10 cars. Saw these cars on shop shelves and beat by them at the tracks with painful regularity but did not realize there were so many varieties of the R/C 10.
I never raced off road or short course. I was a dirt and paved oval racer on a budget and these tracks had a "gearcase" class. R/C 10s and the like, full body with the standard buggy wheels and tires for dirt, and AJ's/Bolink adapters for running pancar tires and rims on pavement.
Fast forward and Associated has released a oval specific car the SR 10 and their no prep DR 10 Drag racing car based on the RC 10T.
I'm thinking that you did reviews for these cars?
I don't know if you are interested in the speculative, future collectability of the "10s" but these two cars and the recently OOP Associated Rat Rod truck look like their going to be an obscure branch of prodegy linked to the R/C10. The SR and DR can be had new on the market for discounted prices. I don't know about the Rat Rod truck, last I checked the body was still available.

I'm sure it drives really well but for me personally the cab forward look is disgusting. I just don't like or collect them because of this style. I know the cab forward is better for racing and aero but I just don't race so it's not something for me personally.

It may have won the the world's in 97 but the double X was a way better car. The B3 light upon the world's because of the driver. But the double x went a lot further and won more championships. Nowadays Team Associated does have a better chassis for carpet racing today but Team Losi isn't the team losi it used to be
Just had a look at my B3 team that I got on release and they didn't come with the blue front or rear plates out of the box (well mine didn't at least!) - I wonder if the parts are Associated parts or aftermarket on the one you've managed to get?
No TA released a few versions and the factory team option came with the blue parts. You could get these as extra option parts as upgrades back in the day. If your B3 has gold shocks then it's the entry level kit.
Kits really have come down in price, 369 in 97 is ALOT of money

100% this was loads back in the day. I did the conversion from 2000 and today this kit would sell for $630USD or £557 in 2022! WOW!
