Important! Please read! There are a number of peripherals that utilize the side holes for grip on the gba sp and original gba. Please consider revising the bottom shell to include those hole grooves for the peripherals. Things like the gba wireless connector or other japanese add ons won't work if you don't modify the case you made for the injection molding. Just an FYI.
Also, the Official GC to GBA cables need those holes that clip. As a Gen 3 Pokémon player, FF Crystal Chonicles and Zelda 4-Swords player, it will effectively remove a GBA/player from a session.
I personally don't have a use for all of the other features in the thicc boy, but just having an SP with a wireless rechargeable battery and headphone jack is already a game changer
Thank you Retro-Spect🙏! It’s so interesting that Nintendo decided to remove the headphone Jack and opted for a proprietary port. I agree it’s one of the more important feature of the thicc boi! Cheers buddy 😁

Probably a misunderstanding. He says TRS has 2 rings, and "TRSS" has 3 rings. Obviously referring to the plastic isolators in-between each section, but it wouldn't make sense to call those "rings" when the standard already has a different component of that name.

This is really the absolute best GBA SP mod ever, it has everything you'll ever need! I'm following your channel and this mod from the beginning and it looks awesome, I'm glad to see how has been developed.
I am 100% down to support you for the Thicc Boi! Whenever you have a Kickstarter I'll be there day one! Amazing work as always! I work a lot and I always have my handhelds with me, and to have a battery that'll last damn near 24 hours (I use my IPS screen on default to two notches darker) would be a life saver!
I've been hoping someone would do something like this. The only thing I can think of that would count as a major improvement instead of a minor one would be to figure out a custom top so a larger screen could fit, but there's not much space left for that. Maybe a custom metal shell for the top?
I've said this once and I'll say it again: amazing to see how much your channel's grown since I first subbed. This is definitely something that appeals to me, even if I wouldn't be able to afford it at the moment. Oh well, there's always the future :P
That's something I would really want! more battery and USB-C would help me a lot! (I made trips too long, and no place to recharge at all times, so, it could be a great economy of time, haha)
This is all kinds of awesome but had you considered taking advantage of the extra room to solve the headphone jack TRRS problem? I'm pretty sure an SPDT audio jack (and there are some small profile ones) would allow you to use audio ground for the R and L channels, while also shorting the regular ground with the speaker mute pin when headphones are inserted in order to kill the speaker. This is how the headphone dongle works internally! The old TRRS jack trick shorted the jack's microphone ring with ground to kill the speaker, but doing so means, as you described, you can't use TRRS headphones (which indeed have a separate microphone ring rather than one long ground sleeve to facilitate the trick) and it also doesn't filter DC from the signal path so in turn it damages headphones unless you add capacitors to the separate channel paths
Instant purchase for me mate. I've got a spare SP just waiting to be turned into a Thiccboi. I just hope ya'll offer a clear black shell, will hopefully pair well with clear black shells from e.g. Retromodding, will be nice to have colour matching shells! Amazing work Tito, Kyle and Helder! Can't wait to see how this progresses!
This is awesome Tito! Now have to decide between this and the GBA SP unhinged. if only the unhinged had a glass window on the back like phones do for wireless charging. I added this to my GBA mods playlist!
Awesome mod, it looks like what i always wanted! A way to play for extended times, not the poor 3 to 4 hours i can get with the stock battery. As a kind of critique, I think you should consider a circuit to be able to power off bluetooth, or at least a way to turn off that blinking light. I can imagine being in a plane with all lights off trying to play and then flashing everyone around with that bluetooth light. I think it would be nice if it can be turned off. otherwise, maybe some shell work to encase or direct the light in a specific direction, preferably downwards. Keep the awesome work!
You've really upped your mod game, brother! Very exciting stuff. Personally, I would like some of these features in the original AGB-001, but I'm not trying to throw shade. This is great stuff, man!

Did your wireless charging mod and v2 screen installs and have been loving them. very interested in your kit and very excited for your release. Props to your 3d modeler for the shell. I agree with some of the other comments. Even half of that enormous battery would be more than decent and if it helps to improve portability, I think I rather that trade off. Excellent work from all of you.
i am very interest in this. this is great!!!! i would love to see a hinge-less version in the future. This could help portability with moving the board to the top and keeping the battery and cart port in the bottom. size would be close to a GB pocket.
This is awesome! I've been waiting to see the progress on this and no disappointment here. I really like the idea of a Kickstarter for this. Did you see how successful the Infinity GBC game has been? That battery life time is amazing! Do you think a future revision could support TV out? Seems like there might be space for it? I don't know. Anyway, thanks for your hard work, your editing skills (damn man) and nice haircut! Looking forward to future updates.
Damn this looks amazing and I can imagine the benefits it would have for an SP. Its a shame it's not available for the OG GBA (I prefer the wider grip and ergonomics of it) but oh well
Good effort. I am also modding an SP to add all the mod cons. However, I'm trying not to expand the case (as I carry it everywhere). Here's how I'm going about it: • Using Makho battery. Seeing this new battery uses cables to connect the battery to its connector PCB, you gain some flexibility. Becasuse of this, I was able to dremel away the battery compartment to get more space. • Headphone jack under the power LEDs (seems to be the most popular place to put it). Using Helder's Power Cleaner PCB to avoid noise. Works fine. • USB-C connector can fit between the EXT and link ports. The port has been installed but it not connected. I'm currently waiting for a PCB I designed to make soldering easier. • Wireless charging: After soldering some extension wire between the charging module's coil and PCB, it fits quite nicely thanks to the missing battery compartment; Coil on top of the battery; PCB below. Has not been connected yet as it will connect to the same PCB as the USB-C port. • Bluetooth audio is waiting for when low latency modules are available. I'm planning on using the shell of a wireless transfer pak or a GameCube cable connector to house it when that time comes. That was I can use it with any GBA (or GC GBA Player). Sorry if the comment sounds like a ramble; I'm in bed with a fever.
It's completely wild hearing you break down all the solder points you're attaching to. Makes me wonder just how much is going on in that motherboard that goes completely unused out of the box.
It would be absolutely amazing if once the product is commercial, you released different iterations of it. (I would love a Thicc Boi without the wireless charger, and a smaller battery if it's possible to shrink the height)
Same. I don't think I will ever use the wireless charger since I do not own one myself, but the headphone jack and USB C charging is just sooo good, and I am very interested in bluetooth audio also. I think most people are good with 800-1000 mAh batteries, so if they can use those batteries or have extra space to make slightly bigger ones, I'd be happy.
Same here. I have magnetic chargig tips for all my electronics, so the usb-c is all I would want for charging. I already have the second battery shown in my sp, so maybe do a version that uses that, no wireless charging, and no lag bluetooth?
The grip of that shell for my monster hands the blue tooth headset and that battery life would be the main selling. Im also down to just buy the kit to show support for the endless content you've provided us 👍 great job Tito sir!
Love helder's products! I've purchased every amp he's released for the Gameboy and DS and they work great! If you guys can get the Bluetooth lag fixed I'll definitely back the project.
We’re hoping to find one with less lag. The current module is actually pretty good but because it is converting analog to digital, there may be now way to completely eliminate it.
Just awesome. I'm impresse how you simplify the process to a nearly perfect mod. Nearly because now I think the L & R button are too short with the thicc boi install 😅. It can be a good idea to custom the trigger and make them longer to fit the new case. My SP need mod and I thinking to make it THICC BOI now 😅, so I'm going to wait the crowdfunding start 👍. Great job.
I had an SP growing up, and I swear mine had a rechargeable battery and a headphone jack already... I remember using headphones while playing Chain of Memories because I loved the music so much..
Wonder how long until we get the "Super Thicc Boi" which features all the features plus a video output and somehow an even bigger battery. This is an amazing feat and I can't wait to see what future mods come to the SP
This looks promising, I definitely will support it on whatever platform you choose to crowdsource. I’m usually weary of fine soldering, but the flat flex cables really look to make this mod more friendly. I’ll be honest, I’d probably pay for just having the thicker base to have something more to grip onto! The other features are great though.
I'm not experienced enough with soldering to be confident assembling this myself, but I would gladly shell out extra for a fully constructed one when your crowdfunding begins.
Congrats on overcoming all the obstacles on this. I’d buy this if you made a thiccboy lite, with maybe a battery half that size and the back case thinned down accordingly.
Using the gba expansion cover from before I managed to fit a USB c charging port, larger battery (1400 mAh 103048), a headphone Jack behind the top display and a wireless charging module. Pretty decent upgrades, all without the kinda ridiculously big thicc boy sp bottom cover. It's very cool how you guys redesigned this mod to be a lot easier to install though. The size is just not my thing.
@@MachoNachoProductions I'm also concerned about the size but it depends on people taste and their hand size. What about a thicc boi "light" ? Basically same design but reduced height, smaller battery (19h hour of battery life is quite overkill to be honest), smaller hinge for L/R buttons and that's it.
Hey there! Big fan of your work! This looks really great! I’m an aerospace design engineer and would happily help with feedback on your shell design prepping for injection molding. Looking forward to your final product!
I love this, in all the possible ways, i surely buy your collab mod once it's finished, since i really love your videos i would love if you look up to ways of conserving the data on a cartridge for backup saves purposes and also transfer saves, since everyone i saw so far doesn't have your quality of info and obviously aesthethics.
I thought you would have had a TV out function. I really love it and can't wait to see the final
I don't know how Tito keeps doing it, between you and Makho's content there has never been a better time to own a game boy sp.
This looks amazing, I can't wait to buy the kit man.
It's perfect. I personally would do a HDMI output instead of Bluetooth, but this is great!
Thanks Oliver! Would love to do Hdmi, unfortunately it is a very complex mod to do, however, I will keep that in mind, cheers 😁
I LOVE that Zero is on the battery! The Megaman Zero games were by far my favorite games from the gba.
To the three people who disliked. You are missing the wonders of the THICCboi
Back when youtube showed dislikes
Sign me up. Looking forward to supporting you guys on your Kickstarter.
Minor correction - the L/R headphone solder points for the flex pcb are inductors, not capacitors
Great job.
In just found my SP after 15 years in storage. My gawd I'm excited for this
"You won't be able to put this thing in your pocket."
You underestimate the cargo pants gang.
Very nice man. You guys keep up the good work
damn 19 hours!!! this is what i need right here. i can't wait for the kick starters
Thank you! Glad your as excited as we are 😁 !
That would be awesome! Would probably need to work with Woozle to get hdmi out, but that would be amazing!
The Switch Micro
This looks promising, I definitely will support it on whatever platform you choose to crowdsource. I’m usually weary of fine soldering, but the flat flex cables really look to make this mod more friendly.
I’ll be honest, I’d probably pay for just having the thicker base to have something more to grip onto! The other features are great though.
Get that Kickstarter link up, and this will be one of the few that'll I'll back
Woah this is sick and you guys made it so easy to install, more mods should be like this! Im definitely buying this if i have enough money lol
Awesome! Thank you so much Ricar! I’m glad you’re as excited about this mod as I am😁
You hit the algorithm, bud
I'm not experienced enough with soldering to be confident assembling this myself, but I would gladly shell out extra for a fully constructed one when your crowdfunding begins.
This looks amazing and I am excited.
Awesome John! So happy that you’re as excited as I am about the mod! Cheers buddy 😁
Congrats on overcoming all the obstacles on this. I’d buy this if you made a thiccboy lite, with maybe a battery half that size and the back case thinned down accordingly.
Thank Rudebhoy! We may actually reduce the size of the battery since it is rather large. Stay tuned for updates 😁
This is the definition of where there is a will there is a way.
That true, it is on the slightly larger side 😅
@@MachoNachoProductions I'm also concerned about the size but it depends on people taste and their hand size. What about a thicc boi "light" ? Basically same design but reduced height, smaller battery (19h hour of battery life is quite overkill to be honest), smaller hinge for L/R buttons and that's it.
Hey there! Big fan of your work! This looks really great! I’m an aerospace design engineer and would happily help with feedback on your shell design prepping for injection molding. Looking forward to your final product!
Hope this is still coming! I stopped caring about all other GBA mods when this dropped
we need one of these for the normal GBA, so that it can have everything minus the Headphone jack but added in HDMI video output.
This has to be the greatest community of a console i have ever seen, i would kill for a community like that for psp, also i would really love if you could upload more psp content.
Tito my name is Paco, very good job, i love your channel!
