Why would people start wildfires on purpose?

@@danDlion82 because some people want to see things burn and some climate activists believe it's the only way to convince people of human caused climate change.

We were there when this happened. We got evacuated to a football stadium and spent the night under the stars. Cannot fault all the help we were given and huge thanks to the very brave people that fought the fires. We were looked after really well under difficult circumstances and were back at our hotel the next morning.
A quick response and swift action to ensure everyone was safe. Hats off to all involved. X

The so called “ wildfires “ were on Rhodes last summer. Well I went too Rhodes in October and driving round the island there was a few odd patches of blackened trees and scrub. Nothing like the media in uk was making out. I actually asked locals if Rhodes was bad in summer and nobody knew anything different from a normal summer. The uk media was massively exaggerating the fires. They were also started by people, so not wildfires at all.

I was in Kardamena Kos when we was evacuated. I can't fault the Greek's from the firefighters, police, army, bus drivers who helped evacuate us all & the volunteers who looked after us, there the true heroes 🩵.
Its just ashame the travel company reps let us down, no communication, left to fend for ourselves.
You would of thought that after the wildfire in Rhodes last year travel companies would have a plan in place should such a disaster happen

Why do people still go to these places at this time of the year?
For several years now, there have been numerous articles and videos about the wildfires. And now people are dying of the heatwaves.
Yet the idiots still go, led by the nose by advertisers.
Use your common sense. Don't go. It's bad enough for the police to deal with the local population, getting them to safety. But add a load of tourists, all trying to save their luggage, not understanding the local language, some people determined to be ignorant, awkward, acting like Katens and demanding their right to act as they want.
Just holiday in your own country.
At least, in the case of an emergency situation, you can understand every nuance of warnings being given by your own countrymen and from the people around you.

What are the Greeks supposed to do to survive if they have no income coming in if they had no tourists, you clearly don't think outside the box
