It's because there is heavy discrimination against Chinese members in the industry. That discrimination is the primary reason for Kris, Luhan, and Tao leaving. Hopefully there have been changes and Lay experiences better treatment, but who's to say? Regardless Lay is highly talented and will maintain a following if he decides to go solo.
