You HAVE to see the live Midnight Special version of this, just for the incredible dance routine they do with giant rubberbands.... it's mind-blowing!
This!!!!
Yes, that performance is great!! Lots of dancing.
"GET DOWN!!!" It don't get anymore 70's than that. Love this group and this song. ❤❤
Amen
Well said
Every high school dance I went to played this song ! Empty seats everybody dancing !!!
I was 17 years old when this was released in 1976 and this song was all over the radio and it quickly became one of my all time favorite songs. I still love this. Thanks!
Lol. I was born in 1969 and the very first record single I bought was this. I Was about 8 years old and used my allowance to buy it. I loved it so much.
Love this comment!

The Spinners are an American R&B vocal group from the 50's-70's during the Motown era. They had a lot of great songs such as "I'll Be Around", "That's What Girls Are Made For", "Love (I'm So Glad) I Found You", "I'll Always Love You", "Truly Yours", "It's A Shame", "We'll Have It Made", "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love", "One Of A Kind (Love Affair)", "Together We Can Make Such Sweet Music", "The Games People Play", etc. They had a big hit in 1974 with a collaboration with Dionne Warwick called "Then Came You".
GREAT classic! Have always loved it!💕
Spinners...happy dancing vibe to this, great memories.
I never get tired of this song!
Man, Biz...we had it all. Funk, soul, R & B, jazz, blues, rock-n-roll, soft rock, hard rock, acid rock, country rock, metal, progressive rock...you name it...we had it. Every time you turned on the radio, it was all brand new. It was like having multiple ear-gasms...every...single...day. If you haven't already...check out "It's A Shame" by these guys, and "Who's That Lady" by the great Isley Brothers. Peace! ✌😎
This was one of those songs that was played at every summer barbecue
Incredible song.
I was 10 years old when this was released & it has always been 🔥 when I hear it playing in my head or out of speakers! 😂
You must watch them perform this. Maurice and all the crew were so on point with their performance, dance moves, everything. Perfection.
This song was written by producer
Thom Bell + Singer-Songwriter
Linda Creed.
It's about Thom's son Mark
Who was being teased by his Classmates 4 being Overweight.
It was written to improve his
Self image.
The song evolved from The Fatman
To the Rubberband man
This tune ALWAYS got my fluorescent white Irish ass boppin' across the floor
Same here...word for word except Czech here.
They made this song into an awesome Staples commercial! 😂
Great Googly Moogly! Absolute flashback to a very young age. I used to Love this song! ❤
This song, hahaha! I remember playing it over and over again on a jukebox at a campground as a kid. Good times. 😊
It was one of the songs on Peter Quill's mix tape. This song always takes me back to the 70s
And today I learned that I had only ever heard the shortened version of this song.
This wasn't the style of music I was into when a teen but this song and the Spinners were an exception. I really like these guys. This dude singing has style.
The Spinners were one of the leading r&b groups of the seventies. I would recommend "It's A Shame" but you reacted to it already. So instead, check out "I'll Be Around", "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love", "Then Came You", and "Games People Play" along with many others. "The Rubberband Man" was popular with the kids back when "I'm rubber, you're glue" was a thing on the playground. Rubber bands used to be much more common everyday items because they were used to wrap daily newspapers. Newspapers today, where they still exist, are a pale comparison to where they were back when this song was in the charts. Back when, Sunday editions came as thick as a phone book. But then a phone books are pretty much relics from the past as well. At any rate, the rubber bands that came with the newspaper piled up relatively quickly and a kid could amass a large collection of them in a few months. With that many you could wrap them around a core and try to turn them into a ball that actually bounced. But more often than not you could flick them at little brothers and sisters or what not. We used to attached clothes pins to a thin piece of wood to make rubber band guns that we would shoot at each other as we played cops and robbers, cowboys and indians, and various war games running around the yard and the neighborhood.
Wow dude you remember home made rubber band guns? Dang we're old AF.
@@garyarnett1220 Remember when the only thing Nerf made was a football?
@@mikecaetano Mom said, "You kids better stop that before you put your eye out! Wait 'til you father gets home!" 😂👌
Always liked this 1 Biz!!!!
Gittin' down wif da funk!
I never heard such a long version. WOW! spinners are great
Love the Spinners!!!
Funky - loved it !
If this song doesn't get you on your feet.....you might want to check your pulse.....
Great memories of when i first heard this one!
This is one of my favorite Spinners songs. Nice.
Great disco song back in the 70s, great dance tune for getting your freak on :) Dancin' right now
Ahh, one of the most predominant sounds of my youth. Even way back then I knew this was golden.
It's hard to sit still with this fantastic song🎶🎶🎶👍
Wow, I had never heard the extended version before, and that was wild. The radio version was probably half that, but I'm SO GLAD you didn't do the Live version first. It's just way different, but still good, but the studio is light years better.
Life is terrible and tragic. Leave it to da Biz and da Spinners to give us a fun seventies song. Enjoy your upbeat reactions.
This DJ I knew always followed this with The Ohio Players "Love Roller Coaster".
He damn near killed people on the dance floor!
Now you're talking. This is the stuff I learned to dance to. They sing old school stuff like " Cupid " too. For real. Like 6th, 7th grade. I'm dating myself when I say the first dance I ever learned was the Freak by Le Chic. Awwwww Freak out. Good days Brother. Good to see just jamming along. God bless ya from Ky
Perpetual energy!!!!! Backed up in the studio by the legendary MFSB ! Gamble and Huff had MFSB, and Barry Gordy had THE FUNK BROTHERS.
I remember buying the 45 (vinyl single) when I was about 11 yrs old. I shared a bedroom and a stereo with my two older brothers and they hated it. The oldest brother was into KISS and hated any kind of dance music. A couple years later, KISS released a Disco song (I Was Made for Loving You) and I laughed my ass off!
Omigosh Biz, when the song was almost over, I turned to my daughter and said the exact same thing! I was like, “this is the song that doesn’t end …” then you said the exact same thing. This song was big in its day. I actually saw some people with giant rubber bands dancing and stretching the rubber bands between them, it was cool
Hard not to smile listening to this one. We had some good times to this back in the day. It was hard for me to listen to while driving, though, I'd be blasting down the road looking like you just did for 7 and a half minutes. LOL
Boy I love the Spinners Biz! They have many hits! Spinners @ Dionne Warwick "Then Came You" GReat song!
Cool Tune!
Lord have mercy. Dude, after I watched your reaction I came across them doing this on Midnight Special. I think it3 worth checking out watching them live. It's only 4 minutes. And it's outta sight. Yeah. Peace
❤❤I’ll be Arround by the spinners❤❤❤❤
Do some Larry Graham...Graham Central Station. "Once in a Million You". Vocals and legendary, supreme bass player."
yes, watch the live version
Biz be bringin da funk! First Fame now this. You'd probably like the shortened version more that's like 3 1/2 minutes long. That the one I have. Games People Play is another great one
Hard to believe but this is another part of Philly soul!
Recorded at Sigma Studios. Backed by MFSB.
Produced by Thom Bell, on the Atlantic label.
Biz....u made me day/night! Hand me down my walking cane!!!!
Glad To hear That. Stay Blessed
The 70's man !!
Loved this song as a kid and still do, but now whenever I hear it I think of John Candy mud wrestling
Love The Spinners!!
Its proven scientifically that if you, as a band, get that booty on the dance floor, you will be a successful band. ❤❤❤❤❤ Get out that chair and show us those moves Biz. 😂😂
If you don’t enjoy this song there’s something WRONG wit yo @SS !!!!
