My wife got me this for Christmas. After running through the first box, I was very impressed. It exposed me to some things I’ve never had. Plus there’s enough in the bottles to share with friends. Great product!
I’ve been a subscriber. The last 2 boxes were outstanding. December had Cask Strength Still Austin, Dark Arts, and Taconic Distillery (NY). Randy didn’t have enough time to delve into the QR code, but the information links you to the bottle with specific information about the distillery or NDP, history, excellent tasting notes. And a link, I believe to the specific bottle. It was my 1 experience buying a bottle. I should also say that the 50 ml allows you to share with others, if you so choose😊
Great review Randy and Wes! I purchased Blind Barrel and have had 3 rounds. To let you know there is a qr code to scan and it tells you what the product is and all the details on each of the whiskeys. It also allows you to purchase any of the bottles at a discount price! My wife and I love it!
Pretty cool offering, could be a fun activity among friends that are not close in proximity. I know that I could improve my palate/ability to recognize the nuances from one to the next. Always like the dancing intros. ha
Very cool opportunity for BRT! I was actually recently thinking you should do a series for people trying to develop their palate where you highlight bottles that have maybe 1 (ish) specific tasting note so people can work on identifying tasting notes.
I’ve been on the fence about this product for a couple of years. Your endorsement and partnership may just sway me to take the plunge on a subscription. I’m a big fan of your podcast and love your content and message. Also love being part of the BRTC community
I enjoy Blind Barrels. Money well spent in my opinion. Do these blinds with a buddy and use the BRT aroma kit and have a lot of fun. We aren’t experts by any stretch but are defining what we like. I enjoy sharing my collection with friends and fellow whiskey sippers which, because of things like this, is becoming “my” collection and not what tubers tell me is the next great thing, right? Blind Barrels provides someone like me access to bottles I would never see. Do I like everything that is sent? No. And that is the point 🙂 Randy, thanks for all the work. Prideful Goat is exceptional and I hope you have a solid 2025.
If you compare the price per mL to what you pay when you buy bottles in a retail store it seems like a bad deal. When you understand the logistics and cost they are not charging enough. The distilleries don't want to give up the liquid unless they are being paid roughly the same amount they would if they sold it in their own bottle, so no discount on liquid. Then there is a ton of cost per package for shipping the liquid to the bottler, wholesaler, and retailer. Then there is bottling cost. Then there is packaging costs. Then there is the markup to sell it from the bottler/producer to the wholesaler. Then the wholesaler marks it up and sells it to the shipping retailer. The shipping retailer marks it up and sells it to you, plus blind barrel is a for profit business. When you understand all the layers and markup, it is amazing they can do it for this cheap.
@@BourbonRealTalkSo true! Also if you price it as trying different pours at a bar, it comes out it $12.50 in the comfort of your own home. You also get discounts on the bottles after the fact.
I've set myself up with a few blinds - I have a memory like a steel sieve, so I forget after a week or two what I put in the Boston bottles 🙂. I've never liked in a blind what I didn't like when I knew what it was, nor have I disliked something blind that I like when I knew what I was drinking. But I have learned that I'm awful at telling what I'm drinking, and the relative rankings blind don't always match the rankings I would give when I know what I'm drinking. 🙂 The best selling spirit in the world is Jinro soju from South Korea. But that's worldwide sales, whereas I presume baiju sells mainly, if not entirely, in Red China, and so might not make it into the statistics.
Why more for a one-time than the per-quarter? It is just asking for people to sign up for the per-quarter and cancel and create more administrative overhead handling it. Oh, I don't want this to be like criticism. Great video, great opportunity. I want to talk with someone else and see about curating a quarter. Thanks and I think I am signing up!
Volume discounts are common in the industry. There is also the issue of predicting how much liquid you need to purchase for bottling 4 months in advance. Obviously you need enough to satisfy all your subscribers, but how many for one offs that quarter. It makes sense to incentivise predictability.
Your color commentator Yes Man needs more dialogue for this infomercial. He's not helping you. Why would I spend $50 for four shots of relatively unknown bourbons? A Blanton's mini is $10 and it's Blanton's. You're bottling up much cheaper stuff and selling it at a premium. For $50 I'd much rather go to a bar or better yet buy a decent bottle and enjoy it at home. A better marketing strategy is just to highlight the fact that it's different Bourbons and a different experience. Flights are great but the audience isn't necessarily the new drinker but the experience Drinker who wants something different
Fantastic idea. Thanks for bringing this opportunity to us.

Those blind barrels kits are absolutely amazing!!

I have been eyeing this for awhile but now you just made it more appealing.

This sounds like so much fun! I ordered the yearly subscription.
This seems exciting. I've never done a blind tasting as I'm not sure how to set them up myself. Lol. This awesome!
Pretty cool! Excited to try their service and see what you picked for us.
Seen these floating around, but glad to know how it really works! Going to be subscribing.
Super exciting partnership! Congrats!
Always look forward to your videos. I may have to ask my wife for a subscription to this for my birthday.

Got the yearly subscription....thanks!
I want to be a Wesky expert! 🥃 Cool idea of a blind kit.
This looks like a lot of fun!
Randy and Wes have the best chemistry. Always a good laugh.

This would be really cool! I wonder where my skillet is currently at…

This is a fantastic concept.
Great idea but the price is rough. $200 for 800ml is alot.

Could cut down on the excessive number of bottles I tend to buy... or maybe not!

Has anyone tried blind barrels yet? It sounds interesting
Good video
Thanks!

I support you spending your money the way you want. It sounds like this subscription would not be a good fit for you. Thank you for watching.
Paid infomercial. Not really any knowledge to be gained here.
How much did I get paid, and when do I get the money?
Amazing Video
Glad you enjoyed it!
