Oh Richard you are so damming of your second favourite artist but did make me smile with some of the comments. I have always had a soft spot for Zinc Alloy so think there are worst songs and especially production after it. I look forward to the favourite tracks!. Keep a little Marc in your heart.
I have a Japanese album called The Slider Slides - The Worst of T.Rex. It generally includes recordings from the post 1973 period. I have to say I love Scenescof Dynasty.
@ The only song from pre-Zinc Alloy is Shock Rock. The notes state…”Great guitar riff, piano and a chorus that sounds unlike any other T.Rex song due largely to the prominence of Tony Visconti on backing vocals. However, what a waste of a potentially great song about the demise of glam rock. Instead all we learn is Bolan’s pretty baby is his girl. A sign of things to come, lazy lyrics and a song that deserved to be developed beyond its running time of 100 seconds.”
Hi Richard!!! I think i have not seeing many VC channels doing videos talking about the worst songs from your favorite bands/artists and that's really cool and courageous at the same time, lol.... i don't know any of those songs, but i will take your word for it. cheers and be well
Interesting choices. Off the top of my head and without consulting the collection, my ten least favourite Marc tracks are, in no particular order: Zip Gun Boogie, Dawn Storm, Token of My Love, Light of Love, Precious Star, New York City, London Boys, Do You Wanna Dance, Truck On (Tyke) and Free Angel. As you can see, I find it pretty hard to dislike anything from the Visconti era!
Ride My Wheels - love it . . . the only time (as far as I know) Marc used major 7 chords to get that mellow feel on the verses - and Gloria never sounded better - Scenescoff Dynasty - very much of it’s time I think. Anyway, music is fabulous because we all have different opinions - as for Zinc Alloy - perhaps Marc’s best album - well, almost 👍🎸🎸🎸
@@CookieMusic43 I think if Marc had taken a little more time with some of the songs on Zinc Alloy it could have been the change of direction he was looking for - The Avengers springs to mind - could have been a funk bonanza - anyway, if you want to look for real low points think about the horrors he was recording post Dandy - if he had lived I would have hoped songs like Love Drunk, Foxy Boy and the truly awful 20th Century Baby would never have seen the light of day - hey that’s only my opinion and would I have bought them? Of course I would 🎸🎸🎸
@@zincalloy2213 They are a bit weak. Two songs come to mind that would have transformed Bolan's Zip Gun, the excellent Sanctified and the funky Lock into Your Love. He should have taken a risk with the latter.
@ tend to agree there - the fantastic “Unchained” series of CDs by Edsel gave us some cracking “if only” moments. Showed how prolific Marc was during his short career. There isn’t a day goes by that I don’t either listen to or play one of Marc’s songs and, old as I am 🤣, I still get that “first listen” thrill 🎸🎸🎸
Hi Richard. Nice video. I think some of the early stuff can be quite hard going, but I don't think he put out too many absolute turkeys. Hope you don't get accused of stealing somebody else's idea 😂Cheers Mike
I think it shows how important Tony Visconti was to Marc's music After the Tanx album it was mostly downhill, production wise anyway. There may have been a few good songs in there but I can't really recall
Scenescoff Dynasty was really a poem (imho). Over all I agree with a lot of your choices, but perhaps not all. All that you mention though could've been better with better production. Do you agree?
Because it's enjoyable. If you like everything your favorite artist puts out you're either a drooling sycophant or a teeny bopper. New Order are my favorite band but the second half of 'Republic' is boring. And I absolutely hate Krafty from 'Waiting For The Sirens' Call'.
let's be honest...Gloria Jones and Pat Hall ruined zinc Alloy - unfortunately Bolan was thinking with his little head and had lost Tony Visconti and June Child so his ego just went through the roof - the music suffered!
U just don't understand man pressure in your head has overwhelmed your knowledge rip a man to pieces let's hear you singing and doing the pop buissness
Hippy Gumbo has nothing to do with the later BOD or SMTD its the original single version on here - the Johns Children version is much better in my mind which is also on here (on of my favourite sleeves Ive designed) Laser lOve i thought and the image was good but theres far too much keyboard on it
Light of the magical moon, his voice grates on me,
I can see where you are coming from
The day Bolan died, my mum told me I didn't have to go to school that day. I cried all day. Great piece.
It's hard to believe it was 47 years ago!
You can find Zinc Alloy album online with the screeching background vocals removed.
I heard the demos on the 1990's CD Rarities 2 which I enjoyed a lot more than the finished tracks.

It was difficult to do but I had to be honest with myself. I don't actually hate any of these songs, just dislike the top few.

I used to have Truck On in my least favourite pile but as of late, it has really grown for me.

Zinc Alloy certainly does have some of his best tracks, Liquid Gang and Change being two of my deep cut favourites

I partially agree, some of the lyrics especially Precious Star and Token of My Love are not the best in my opinion
Why would a fan of a band make a video of what they think is their worst songs?
Just to show that all great artists have a few duffs in their catalogue.
@CookieMusic43 I love this band, let me tell you how shit they can be?!
@@mooghead it's not to be taken too seriously

I have heard very little by T Rex..Only The Slider& TanxAlbums
Songs I don't care for
Rapids/ Buck Mackane
Song I like a lot......Tenement Lady
I absolutely love the track Rapids. Tenement Lady is great as well.
Just print the list and be done...
I bought The Slider around 1972, And I still havent got a clue what he was singing about Generally.
I do have a book explaining the lyrics of all his songs. I can't remember the autors name but he desreves a prize for even attempting it.
@@CookieMusic43 I Agree. I still love him because his music shaped my life. I bought Deborah second hand around 1971.
