a great moody blues ranking, loads of great albums, i do really like the bluesy first album, i think sur le mare was the first album i bought of theirs and the single, cheers richard
Thanks Richard. Enjoyed that. I have had 6 of the classic 7 for at least 30 years. So I’m a bit of a fan. But I’m not sure I could take as much Moodys in a short time as you have gone through. To me their music comes through with a whoosh, but at helicopter speed. That’s not a criticism, but it may be a reason why I don’t fancy listening to them one after the other. But you’ve left me wanting to listen to them again, including the 80s albums, which my new wave pretensions at the time, prevented me from listening to. Top video Richard. Thanks again.
Great video and reviews! I've been a Moodies fan since the very beginning. My Top 5 are: To Our Children's Children's Children, In Search Of The Lost Chord, Days Of Future Past, On The Threshold Of A Dream and Seventh Souhourn. Thanks, Richard!
Definitely surprised by The Other Side of Life being so high up on the list. Also surprised In Search of the Lost Chord didn't rank higher - is my #1 Moody's album.
Hi Richard!!! cool to hear you have a second opinion about Moody blues comolete catalogue and not just their classic era..... what used to happend to many legacy bands. I remember the band had some recognition in the mid 80's, but that's all i recall about them. Anyhow keep hearing good things about them also a kind of underrated prog band. cheers and be well
Thanks Richard! If push came to shove I would choose the Moodies as my all-time favorite group. I would rank my top three albums as Question, EGBDF, and 7th Sojourn. I think that each of the classic seven albums have fans who would choose one as their favorite, that's how good they all were.
I love the Moody Blues! They are my absolute favorite band and I saw them in concert during their Sur la Mer tour in 1988 ("Love is on the Run" is one of my favorite songs from that album). My favorite albums are "Long Distance Voyager" ("Gemini Dream", "22,000 Days", and "The Voice" especially) which I have on vinyl, and "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour" (I love ALL the songs on that one, especially "After You Came), which I also have on vinyl...it was originally my sister's, but I inherited it. ha ha. Great video! You have excellent taste!
Hi Richard- I probably should listen to more Moody Blues! I own NO albums by them despite being familiar with at least a handful of their more ‘classic’ songs 🤔 More often though I hear a song and go ‘this is good, who’s this?’ (Moody Blues)…’oh I didn’t know they did that!’ Go figure! 😆 Cheers-R

I'm really surprised by TOSoL as well. I've had it for years but only recently go to really appreciate it.

It surprised me as well Cristian but I've always loved Your Wildest Dreams

Totally agree Ron.

A really good compilation, like with most artists, is probably the best place to start Richard
my fav every good boy deserves favour
Good to see that we agree John
I'm an Orthodox fan. I don't tolerate placing any of the classic 7 below anything they did after that. Very very set in my ways...
I used to be like that
A band with 5 songwriters and 4 lead vocalists. In sports they call that a deep bench.
very true!
