  • CHAO LONG IS AN AMAZING FILIPINO VIETNAMESE FUSION SOUP THAT CAN BE FOUND ALL OVER PALAWAN... AND IT IS A MUST EAT!
On this day driving back to Puerto Princesa from Bataraza, we stop off and try this famous food in Palawan. And well, I have to say, it is freaking incredible! The soup comes in different styles, and is a cross between Vietnamese Pho and Filipino fatty, salty, and sweetness! Seriously, it is freaking delicious! Probably one of the best soups I have tried in the Philippines. No wonder it is a local favorite in this part of the country!
    From Bataraza to Puerto Princesa...
WE NEED TO EAT THIS VIETNAMESE FILIPINO SOUP MORE OFTEN!!!

Hello. Palawenya here. You were right. Chaolong was introduced by the Vietnamese who lived in Palawan before. Now, chaolong is everywhere in our province.

@BecomingFilipino Chaolong is one of the culinary influences left by the Vietnamese in Palawan. In the 70's, when the Vietnam War was taking place, a number of Vietnamese people escaped their war torn country by sailing towards the Philippines. Some landedi in Bataan and some in Palawan. Palawan became a refugee camp for the Vietnamese. In fact, there is a Vietnamese Village (Viet Ville) in Puerto Princesa, which exists till the present ( but no more settlers). Here, they continued their culinary practices using available ingredients. One of the most notable dishes they cooked and shared to Filipinos is the Chaolong. It is best enjoyed with Bahn Mi or locally known as bread toast (the local version is much simpler-- a baguette split in half, buttered or served with slices of chicken or portk. After the war, most refugees left, either to the US or repatriated. Some decided to stay and intermarried with the locals and continued the local culinary practice. Chaolong has become an integral part of Palawan's culinary landscape.

Looks great, but it doesn't look that authentic. I think it's more similar to pho bo kho. Anyways, hope you are having an awesome trip.Take care!

For info, the name Brooke's Point comes from an Englishman Sir James Brooke, first white Rajah of Sarawak and founder of the Brooke Dynasty. It is believed that during one of his voyages, he landed on the tip of an island with a long narrow stretch of land inhabited by native Palaweños and Muslims under the Sultanate of Sulu.

Canadians don't rush into marriage . They wait years and years and years before tying the knot. Normally, they live together for quite a while b4 getting married, save money for the wedding and try if they are compatible or not. If everything looks good and are ready, then they march the isle. They take their time.
