I agree,, I have been to Australia,, and I would have given my right arm to see him,, I have several of his CD's and listen to him often, he was a great Aussie,, RIP old friend,, from Canada
All that talent, all those albums, all those audiences made happy, and yet not a trace of a fake American accent. The original and the best -- Slim Dusty.
We miss you Slim you ledgend i listen to you daily, you were the voice of us real Australians . We love our country and for what its worth we country folk enjoy your songs and stories and live by them daily .
its just a paddock back in the 60-70s if any 1 was from the territose he wasnt from there! love slim because he wasnt from there but he knew what was goin on with the real truckies n stockmen, not the wanna be ""ringers"" of today. my father is a real trucky from the 60s n he was buried with this song playing! respect, the best truck driver of his time. 4 trailers most weeks
Dear TH-cam, when i listen to Slim Dusty, I Don't want any ads! This man deserves to have ad Free videos, Sincerely Goldenoldieslover1 on behalf of 90% of the Australian Population.
The long yard is a big grazing paddock. that's fenced. A stock yard is a holding pen, also when times were really bad and drovers used to ove stock along the roads to graze the sides of it i nan effort to keep stock alive, the sides of the road were called the long paddock. Hope this helps.
@amyreader77 Musters are when they move livestock from one place to another. Baldy Bay is a horse. Bay being the main colour and Baldy have a white patch on hom.
@geoport A long yard is a spelling yard, a yard where horses usually are rested, or as it is called spelled, just to live out there final years in peace.
What's happened to Australian pride & mateship? Slim & RM fought for our national pride - everyday I see hatred amongst Australian's - We must fight for the real Australia again.
actually a long yard is a big paddock reserved for fattening good stock....usually 100 to 500 acres...good grass and water...OZ is a very big BIG place..paddocks here can be 10,000 acres of ROUGH stuff..and the long yard is where the fattening takes place..sometimes up to 10,000 acres...but...the best and sweetest grasses..
@geoport A long yard is a paddock that is close to the homestead or the yard the homestead is on, when they say turn him out means that they are going to retire him stop him being a working horse
Here's a challenge for you : go learn about the difference between "mindfulness" (good, positive, the next big thing beyond CBT) and "mindlesness" (big-city dwellers & big ciies are prone to this unhelpful synrome). No prizes for guessing which one that you are sadly afflicted by ....
Had this song at my husbands funeral and it sounded so right God one from the past

I love this song! I'm from Canada. Can someone tell me what are musters and baldy bay? Thanks!
Musters are rounding up cattle. Baldy Bay is the markings on a horse. Australia had cattle drives & stockmen ( cowboys) just they did in the USA.
