The bumpiness is also a difference between the two. TWD98 said it the best: MKW Maple Treeway, despite being a Nintendo track, feels like a custom track with its bumpiness.
I feel like the bumpyness is more realistic though as you're driving on a tree. Also graphically the booster course version looks more like a custom track.
@@AidenHilton981 is looking like
A custom track supposed to be
Bad in a way or good? Like is that
Quote representing bad looking
Custom tracks or good ones?
@@warpath7386i think they mean negative here? but its weird because specifically custom tracks are of quality value
Part of what made it so fun on the Wii, it was genuinely hard to keep on the track at times, especially with classic Mario Kart Wii chaos
@@incompetence10881 IKR! This is why I prefer the original way over the 8 deluxe remake
The Wigglers in the Wii Version sing while in the Deluxe Version, they’re silent.
Also before this track was released, I assumed that the round tree branches are zero gravity sections, but they’re perfectly levelled out.
This might just be me, but the round branches added some welcome tension to the track, because it seemed easier to fall off them, besides being a rather unique layout seen in very few other tracks
And no waving bridge?!
@@iForerunners That was already removed in MK7 and Tour, I dont know why it's a surprise anymore. Same with the coconut mall escalators.
Also in Wii, the Wigglers don’t hurt you, you just bounce off of them like hitting a wall, but in Switch, you get hurt
@@gonzalofernandezbrito9075 yeah those graphics are trash. I expected something good
they removed the boouncy bridge... that was my favorite bit :c
Ngl, I thought most people gotten over that since that was removed in MK7 over 10 years ago
I miss it too 😭 They could have made the bridge and a gliding ramp, that would've been the best for me
@@Jackietubepro i can barely remember 7 tbh and i even got it on release date lol
That's been gone since 7 so not a big deal to me
Same!! That part and the caterpillar part are the sections I remember most fondly about this course. It fit the aesthetic so well too. What a shame 😔
At least they made the bridge before it wider so you don't have to eat banana peels every time you go down it 😂
Wii: Different types of ground that are all unique from each other and a funny net bridge.
Deluxe: W O O D
Wii had wood too but okay
@@ElectroBlastLuigi Yeah I was gonna say lol Wii is also like wood in pretty much every area that 8 has wood
Kid
I mean, you’re basically driving on trees, so making it wood makes more sense
It's awesome to have Maple Treeway but Wii's version will always be my favorite
@Shepard’s P1e old and forgotten Funky Mode.
@Shepard’s P1e Funky Kong is 100% one of the dlc characters they know how crazy it would sell they’d be stupid not to have him there
I like both versions! Aesthetically, I like that the MK8D version adds the pops of turquoise with the buildings, but I miss the purple tones in the leaves from Wii's version
Tbh, while 8DX’s is very fine, Wii’s version is just more alive, here we see more plants, trees, and leaves all around, there’s more huts, and some have smoke coming out of their chimneys, the Wigglers sing as they walk, and the wavy bridge was both very fun and added to the scene, as if that section above the lake is windy as heck
@@AidenHilton981 3ds rainbow road is at its max potential
@@AidenHilton981 wait so hold up
We payed 20€ for 16 tracks in the Wii U right? Now we are paying the same amount but for *48 retro tracks* and they come with lower quality?
NO FUCKING WAY!
Wii players will never admit something else is better lmao yall are insufferable
The Wii one is more challenging as well which makes it more fun. You'll also find that a lot of the tracks in the waves are scaled down a lot compared to the original track.
@@somethingelse4282 nah, the Booster Course Pass is quantity over quality, sure the courses may not look as nice as the base game, but we’re doubling the amount of courses to a whopping 96, while bringing fanfavorites like Waluigi Pinball to 8DX, and they’re improving in the quality each wave, 8DX’s Maple Treeway looks and plays pretty nice
Now I noticed that Mario Kart Wii's pirouettes have a longer animation if the jump is bigger, that adds a lote to the feeling experience and doesn't happen in Deluxe
yeah they nerfed boost ramps in mario kart 7 and have been like that ever since
they do the long one for the glider parts
@@mehdigeek it's still pretty nerfed compared to what MKW had
@ I feel like that was due to the physics though as it was on the 3DS which wasn't the most powerful system
@@AidenHilton981 What does that have to do with physics? It just depends on the speed you have when you hit the jump.
the logs are flat in 8 now, and the bouncy bridge is gone
Bouncy bridge has been gone since 7
I honestly prefer the wii version. It might look a little dated these days but it has a charm to it.
I don’t really, but the background in Wii is beautiful… honestly more than 8D.
It's just nostalgia.
@@Sakurasplace123 It's really not, but sure
@@paradisenotforme op literally said it has charm, which is entirely based off of nostalgia
@@masonmurphy5402 charm doesn't necessarily mean that it is based off of nostalgia?
It’s definitely more of MK7’s version than MKWii’s. I personally loved it.
It brought back the Half-pipe which was from restored from the Tour version
It's both version which is good
@@Sholver Actually, you’re correct thanks to the halfpipes returning.
Tour*
Mario Kart 7 was such an abnormally forgettable Mario Kart game. I can barely remember any of the tracks that aren’t in 8DX
I wish the green of the grass was less saturated in 8DX, the muted green in Wii really helped make the orange pop, but now its too clashing
I appreciate the new version being larger because the original would be damn near impossible on 200cc
That was the fun of the original it's like giving rainbow road from SNES guardrails
Part of what i love about wii is the freedom of movement. Like the obscene amount of ultra shortcuts are an amazing example of that. Mario kart 8 kinda picks you up after veering off a little bit, and idk i just like the fast paced flying all over the place chaos of wii. Plus the sentimental value, but i was like 7 when i got 8 back in 2013, and i mean i got wii in 09 when i was 3 so its only like 4 years. We need a new mariokart game.
what the hell happened to the grass in the MK8 deluxe version
Since this map is ported from MK tour they didn't bothered changing the texture
@@salty_7560 actually if you look closely the grass does have some texture tho it's not really noticeable until you look at it closely
@@alexthelazypotato4036 This is the case with almost every track on the DLC, the textures are there, they just aren't noticeable until you look at them very closely for whatever reason lol
They applied the good ol' modern mario style to the grass in every track on the BCP, like holy crap, every track with grass looks like it's using the same smooth green texture
@@alexthelazypotato4036he said they didn’t change it, he did not say it had no texture
I hate the play-doh grass
Same, they did Rock Rock Mountain so bad
That's the issue of porting tour courses into a console game
@@randompersontrying9700 not even that, there’s no excuse for Nintendo being unable to change textures. There’s modders that do it in a couple of days
@@JakeYolk There are textures, it's just very unoticable and you have to look it for directly to see the textures.
@@randompersontrying9700 then theyre not good because theyre not comparable to the base games’ courses, it doesn’t look as good as it can and it’s not a big deal to change the textures
I'm glad that he put that they're different in the thumbnail otherwise I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference
They removed the dangerous parts!! 😭 This course was fun because it had opportunities to knock other racers off at 200cc (or get knocked off yourself when you get bullet billed at the wrong moment). Much prefer the Wii version
mkwii didn't have 200cc
@@LieseFury you're totally right, I misremembered. 150 or mirror though.
I remember me and my friend playing MKWII all the time in my childhood and every time we practice the grass glitch in maple treeway.
I played MKWii for over a year before I discovered the starting shortcut
Probably my two biggest gripes is that the grass is the entirely wrong colour which really ruins the aesthetic and they replaced the breathtaking sprawling forest background with mountains (likely due to tour being a mobile game) which doesn't look nearly as good.
Fun fact: there was no forest at all, just two circles of cardboard trees, followed by two circles of mountains. The polygon count of the Mario Kart Tour version is much higher, about 10 times the polygon count of the Mario Kart Wii version, that used extensively cardboard trees and mountains instead of a fully modeled valley.
@@misterwu7233 I saw that in Reddit
Wait they even added the Trick Ramps from MKWii?!?! LES GOOOOO
Never seen that shortcut at the beginning lol
The 8D version fails to capture the cozy fall atmosphere!
oh yeah, now the half pipes are not easily abusable for pulling off insanely tight turns with miniturbo
sign me up
Why did they remove the little hut right before the wiggler section?
Not enough space I think
Very grateful they brought back the trick curve after it was gone in Mario Kart 7!
i forgot how obnoxious daisy was in wii lmao
That looks fun I need to get the DLC. I'm getting Mario kart 8 deluxe tomorrow
im sorry wheres the net again?
Removed since Mario Kart 7
Removed since mk7 with the introduction of gliding
MK8 version is a lot more faithful to MK7, aside from the section right after the wigglers
IDC I'M GLAD THAT MY FAVORITE TRACK IS BACK BABY
The track is likely different because MKWii physics are very different than MK8's. But I really enjoy this track 😊
I like how the roots at the end don't just hurl you into the leafy abyss anymore.
Also, shout-out to a fellow Daisy main!
On wii or 8
@@No-OneSpecial000
On Wii, I always found the collision in those roots wonky but it's smoother on 8.
@@danielwilliams7161 I find that more enjoyable. I prefer dumb fun over a bug free game
I WANT MY TRAMPOLINE BACK FOR THIS TRACK 😤
is that the trampoline is present on Mario kart Wii but absent on Mario kart 7 because of the aerial mode
It disappeared since 7. That’s not going to happen.
I didn’t know it disappeared in 7, I never even knew maple Tree way was in 7
@@angeldust2614Final race of the Leaf cup! MK7 also has Wii tracks in the retro tracks like Coconut mall and Mushroom gorge ect.
@@destroyermcw626 that’s nice! I never got to play MK7 sadly, only Mario Karts I’ve been able to play is Wii, the one for Super Nintendo, DS, and 8
I miss the bumpy bridge 😭
Well in contrast, I love the new Maple Treeway and I think it fits into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe perfectly
I just wish it had anti-gravity and better textures for the grass… other than that tho it’s great.
Probably the only course in the Booster Course Pass that has trees that don't look like they're made out of plastic.
The trees in the background look fake and have points in them
@@No-OneSpecial000 "Look fake" is subjective, but yes they are definitely of lower poly count. That's better than trees on the course itself that look like they belong in a Fisher-Price toy set.
No it does look like plastic and upscaled mushrooms they have no deth eighter
@@Inksploded Death eaters would be a nice addition.
Looks better in wii tbh
Ok but this sound effect 0:37 BROUGHT ME BACK AND MADE ME SO HAPPY
It seems like they are trying to modernize the graphics with simplicity, but something about it doesn’t look right
Yet another case of making it easier
0:10 R.I.P. small tree.
I hated and loved this roadway in my childhood
so beautiful with the mk8 graphics! 😍 so nostalgic of my childhood playing mk wii! ❤ maple treeway is a beautiful level 🍁🍂🐛🧡💛
Nice vid
The remake is amazing
Deluxe because I do not want to wait until it gets to the end of the year of 2023 I can't wait for any longer!!! 😕
Wii version feels more fast indeed
OMG DAISY'S VOICE
The vibes of the Wii version are immaculate! The Deluxe one looks plastic
This is the 3ds or tour version of the map I think
Wii:
Deluxe: WHOO YAHOO OH YEAH
Rip mario kart 7 for not being here
The Wigglers now spin you out instead of pushing you back.
I still miss the bridge, but honestly the 8dx version is a massive improvement over the original.
Definitely not the only improvement I see are the graphics but even then It’s no where near as charming as the green clashes with the autumn aesthetic
rip the JO Bridge
The Wii OST added to that “Maple” fall feeling of this course, but now, it’s a bit bland and sounds like a farm track, can’t explain it
so is the new mario kart game just reworked levels and maybe a few new ones?
Bet they fixed the glitch where you can fall of the track to drive on the grass below
i don’t understand why they can’t just keep them exactly the same to the original
Because they can't just rip geometry from two vastly different engines.
Not to mention it has to be updated to accommodate different physics on karts, like Mario Kart Wii has very floaty karts while 8's get less airtime off ramps and such and that has to be accommodated.
I don’t understand why they have to be the same as the original
You’re probably the type of person to like Mario Circuit 3 in 8DX…
@@playerlgamer0592 i mean Mario Circuit 3 is fine, it's just kinda underwhelming compared to the SNES courses in the base game
@@Robbie_Haruna Agreed, btw, just so you know, my comment was directed towards our good friend Alan…
I hate MK8 Deluxe Maple Treeway. In Wii it’s a top three
It's still amazing for basically all the same reasons as in Wii though
It's fine
@@Robbie_Haruna why are you dick riding deluxe in literally every comment that says they prefer Wii?
@@Vivid_Sky23 Not having a knee jerk "it's new so it's bad!" response is suddenly dick riding now?
Almost like not being a fucking dipshit and suddenly calling a great track bad the second you don't have nostalgia behind it warrants being called out for such a blatant display of idiocy.
Wii version was thousands times better … the water and background overall
When u look at the 2 retro rainbow roads and donut plains in the base game in comparison to these new retro tracks I feel like these ones r lacking this ones good though
thats becuase they are direct ports from mario kart tour which has a simpler art style
I honestly prefer 8DX
Where the FUCK is the net?!?!?!?!?
Gone since 7, i thought we moved on from that already...
@@AlmondMilkLake never played 7, now I am in first degree grief
with mk7, gliding was introduced so the net was replaced with a gliding ramp
I love 8 deluxe version but there are 3 issues I have with it
1. The playdoh lime grass
2. The rocks being a bright gray and not having any textures
And 3. Bro what happened to the bridge
0:06 why do characters in Mario kart 8 look bigger than in Wii
I love both, but OG had better music
bring back the bridge
You should be able to pop a wheelie on your own in deluxe
Nintendo fans when somethings different:
How is it different from the tour version?
"Different"
I prefer the original version over the Tour-version
why are people surprised its 48 courses and its from tour ofc its not gonna be high quality fantastic as the original mk8 tracks, less time was put on them. but hey its still 48 tracks
That's a terrible excuse lol. I thought quality over quantity was better.
@smurgerburger uh what? Quality IS better than quantity always will be, I honestly wish they'd make a DLC similar to that of the Wii U with new characters, kart parts and a new cup with high quality race tracks instead. This mobile graphics looking ass tracks sucks
@@AidenHilton981 wtf???? i never agreed that the booster course was good all I said that hey at least is 48 fucking tracks
This comment section gave me an aneurysm
I don’t know,
Something just doesn’t feel right
They removed the wiggly bridge. They went with the MK7 version.
@@magentasky234 well besides that
MK8D version is terrible
@@bbbcnews incorrect.
Not being 1:1 exactly the same as Wii's does not suddenly make it terrible
@@Robbie_Haruna wdym its a downgrade the track feels to save and theres not chaos its boring
Ugh just wow Wii version is more fun and I be playing that one too much. 7 is fine and 8 is ok
Traffic Report Coming Up!
I feel like they could've pulled a Mushroom Gorge and combine the net from Mario Kart Wii with the glider section from Mario Kart DS. Just make the glider ramp slimmer so less people would go to it and keep the net so you'll have best of both worlds. Having both the glider section and the full left part in mushroom gorge made it the definitive version of that track for me
And wii tricks were better
and always will be
I feel like the Wii tracks are so lifeless in MK8 compared to the originals
Its just the same as the 3ds version
What the hell did they do to maple treeway. I mean it actually looks nice
MK8 is more colorful and it shows how vibrant it is
Reminds me of how bloody annoying Daisy is haha
I hadn't played as her in Wii in so long, but my god she never shuts up lmao
i hate that we have to glide for everything now i just want the cannons to shoot us fast with no control leave the gliding for mk7 or mk8 tracks only
Gliding out of cannons instead of just getting no control for a functional auto scrolling segment is literally just an objective upgrade in every sense of the word.
If you were talking about the net being gone you'd actually have a point
@@Robbie_HarunaYeah I have no problem with gliders
MK8D >
i like that they're adding older courses but they just feel so lazy. they're fine overall but they could be so much better. it doesn't help that they're ports from tour tracks
i honestly think this track might’ve been hit the worse in terms of its graphics. i really can’t pinpoint why but the mk8 version looks so wrong
As usual Mario Kart 8 is only good for the graphics
MK8 is for babies
Only you think that.
then how come it sold so well?
@@jonahabenhaim1223 a lot of babies
Hmm
The MK7/8 versions feel so lifeless compared to the Wii version
The new one is larger but less detailed overall than the original.. mk7 did a better job recreating it ngl
I don't like the green grass
Wii is better
前のがいい
It's a port from MK7.
Not really, there's half pipes plus it looks very different
It's a port from Tour
Tour not MK7
