You may have inadvertently done a spoiler there. There is probably a mad hair raising car chase at the end, with occasional shots of the penguin on the back seat adding light relief comical moments. Penguin manages to escape Batman and Steve holds his arms raised and wide shouting AAH HAA.
I read nothing about the story, but I have the impression that it takes place during the military-junta in Argentina, which was not-so-secretly supported and aided by the CIA and the US-government and led to the horrifying torture, killing and "forced disappearence" of several people, who were deemed "ideologically dangerous" or "oppositional" in the eyes of the right-wing-dictatorship. Many of them were young people and many families don't know until today where the remains of their loved ones are. Because they were tortured, then burned or brought with helicopters above the sea and then were thrown into the abyss (while many of them were still alive). The US-aided, completely anti-democratic and inhumane regime-changes in South America in the 60's and 70's are so horrifying and so incredibly sad. I don't know if you know the Argentinian film "The Secret in Their Eyes" from 2009, with the always-superb Ricardo Darín (and a stellar cast). It depicts a story from this part of Argentina's history. It's so incredibly sad and infuriating. In school we didn't learn about these regime-changes, but as I read about them later I was so schocked and depressed by all of this. (Another great film about this subject is "Missing" /1982/ from Konstantinos Costa-Gavras. Again an incredibly heartbreaking, moving film in documentary-style. Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek are very good in this film.)
Yes, he can do dramatic, tragic and very funny roles at the same time. My first introduction to him was in "24 Hour Party People" and "Tropic Thunder", two very different films.
First Jean Reno (My Penguin Friend), and now Steve Coogan, both in movies dealing with true stories based on two men in two different countries (Argentina and Brazil) rescuing oil-soaked penguins. Be still my heart...adorbs overload. Must see this. ❤☮🌎
Steve Coogan is one of the great creative minds of our age. If he wasn't for his self destructive tendencies they'd be a much broader recognition of this fact.
As an argentinian i find this awesome, but not uplifting or funny at all 1:27 is very significant if you know what its happening. The latinamerican holocaust.
@@gridlo It doesn't look much like a road trip film, though - most of it seems to happen in the university. And he takes the animal entirely voluntarily, so it's not like one of those 'Uptight guy has to cope with unruly animal' films such as Turner & Hooch or Beethoven. Seems more similar to Mr Popper's Penguins, if anything.
@andrewryan1500 you're right. It also appears that Coogan wears shirts that differ from Murray's. As well as differing pants. Plus if you look closely they each style their hair differently and their eye colors don't match. Well you've really turned me around on this thing.
Finally, something that doesnt involved killing or explosions or assassins.
I thought this movie had something to do with Gotham City.
I mean, I take your point about the surplus of "blow 'em up/shoot 'em up" films but it is Argentina in the 1970s-there will be killing.

Pretty sure the woman who got disappeared did non have a good time.
I've always loved Steve Coogan. So glad he's still working in the biz.

Colin Farrell in an uncredited role here, he shrunk himself down too 😆

Right? I'm not made at this as film sub-genre.
We need feelgood movies.
This looks like a perfect contender :)
I saw a test screening of this 10/10
I hope benedict cumberbatch narrates
Oh I wish more people got this comment...
Penglings!
The best comment 😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What about Morgan Freeman?
So beautifully Steve Cooganesque. (Digging that longer hair too)
I can hear Werner Herzog talking about suicidal behaviour of penguins again.
You had me at Steve Coogan.
I thought this might have been the inspiring story of Benedict Cumberbatch learning to say “Penguin”
want to watch right now!

True Artist
“Self destructive tendencies” ? I thought his days with dabbling in sniffing the devils dandruff were behind him.
Just what is needed.
ahhh, how uplifting, I must see this movie ❤❤❤
A bit dissapointed this is not about Penguin Books, but it seems like a charming film.
Lov it, of the best trailers I've seen this year
Love Steve Coogan ❤
Alan Partridge sure has a wide spectrum of roles up his sleeves I must say.
Finally a movie I can get behind!
I assumed this was going to be a film about Batman's nemesis
I wanna see this movie!
Looks great.
I love James Blunt
I heard Colin Farrel makes a caameo as the penguin.
Coogan for the win. Take my money,!
This reminds me of an old bug bunny 🐰 cartoon where he try’s to help a penguin and gets so annoyed 😑
Love it!!!
Another Penguin movie?
I'm Surprised you're the only one who said that. I just watched my penguin friend a few months ago. Bet these guys are upset that came out earlier.
Please please have a happy ending
Argentina in the 70s? No one had a happy ending.
am i the only one thinking mr popper's penguins?
No penguins were harmed in the making of this movie.
Picks it up and hurls it into water

😍
who is playing batman?
It's how I impress women. Never fails
Waterway to have a good time
looks like a nice fun movie. will probably make very little money sadly.
In Argentina there aren't palm trees at the beach. If this is Uruguay, there aren't palm trees at the beach either
Yes, I don’t think these people are the real ones either. I’m wondering if this is just a film.
@Philosoph-ali you could be onto something
You threw a penguin in the sea? That’s awful!
He ett orl me fags, mon!!
I really hope they haven't put all the best bits in the trailer, and the rest is rubbish.
In this day, I still don't understand why we think animals are here for our entertainment. 🤦🏻♀️🙁
I bet you’re a blast at parties.
I liked this movie better when it was about Bill Murray and an elephant
You mean you liked a completely different film with a different cast, animal, setting, time period and plot.
@andrewryan1500 within in the 'Loveable crank forced to road trip with an animal he comes to learn life lessons from' genre, yes.

@@gridlo Jaws has got a cranky guy and an animal in it, so they're both basically ripping off that.
