good twist letting a nerd be a nerd instead of all of sudden he becomes the most lethal arms and hand to hand combat specialist ever after two hours of training.
It is a remake of the 1981 movie, staring Jon Savage! The Amateur is a 1981 Canadian crime thriller film directed by Charles Jarrott and written by Robert Littell and Diana Maddox, based on Littell's 1981 novel of the same name. It stars John Savage, Christopher Plummer, and Marthe Keller.
Just when I thought that movies didn't excite me anymore, they put Rami Malek and Jon Bernthal in a movie together. I'm gonna have some good dreams after watching this. Mr. Robot and the Punisher?! Sploosh 💦
I have to say I love this. It isn't some dude that goes from pencil pusher to jason Bourne overnight. He is what he is and adapted his knowledge to do the killing. This is awesome and I'm excited for it. Finally something that can be a tad bit less Hollywood for once
Finally! So glad this has a new life. The first version was so close to being good, but didn't quite make it. But the premise was excellent! I look forward to seeing this one
This actually looks like a good movie, I can relate to the story. A regular guy, but a smart one, that lost his loving wife and has nothing to lose but to get revenge.
It pains me to say it....Bourne ain't what it used to be.....and the fact that he isn't a trained assassin...NOTHING like Bourne....this actually looks like it could replace Bourne although I find it hard to create a sequel that is plausible.
I was thinking about the original a few weeks ago. I saw it when I was a kid. Pretty good spy flick. Hopefully, it gets released on streaming sometime soon.
I thought it was going to be another movie about a retired special ops guy being pulled back in for revenge, but instead it's about a nerd pushing himself into a world he doesn't belong to for revenge, complete with flinching while walking away from an explosion, utterly failing to look cool.
Stopped the trailer 15 seconds in. That's all I need to know. Added to the watchlist. Do not need the rest of it spoiled, because I know a three minute trailer will absolutely spoil everything.
I read a novel as a teenager in high school with a similar storyline. That was more than 40 years ago. I hope the movie is even half as good as that book was.
Sacario has a similar character premise. Benicio Del Toro’s character was a lawyer who was trained by the CIA to get revenge on the cartel who murdered his family.
Rami's name should be the first name on this trailer so as not to trick people into thinking that Jon is the protagonist when he isn't. If Rami is the protagonist then maybe mention him first.
I remember a teaser trailer just show you enough reel you in. Now they should be called, see the full movie in 2.44 so you really dont need to go to the cinema to see it
Yeah, she's totally alive. And gotta love the mark of a trashy movie - that someone says "This ends now!" in the trailer. This will either be absolute crud or mindlessly entertaining fun.
This is a re-make. There was a movie just like that in the 1980s. The CIA analyst’s wife is killed by some Communist terrorist group in Europe. The terrorist take over some sort of bank or other public offices. When they are not allowed safe passage by the German police, a terrorist walks out in the street and shoots one American hostage in the head, in front of the TV cameras. The CIA does not allow the analyst to go in a personal hunt. So he goes on his own and starts killing the terrorists. Of course, there is more drama and less technology, since the movie is from the 1980s. DO NOT READ PAST THIS POINT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS. So he kills some terrorist and finally gets to the one that killed his wife. During the chase, the wife's murderer yells in English inquiring what is going on, why is the CIA after him. As if, what the heck, how did plans change (!?). And the husband finds out that the guy that murdered his wife was actually a CIA operative, infiltrated in the Communist group. And that he was given permission by the US government to kill and American hostage to move up in rank in the terrorist organization. As dirty as the entire thing is, the killer is honestly surprised and does not understand why the CIA that told him to kill an American was now trying to kill him (he had no clue the hero of the movie was going after him on his own). The whole thing is MESSED UP!!

Thank goodness!!!!!
Mr. Robot has gone Digital John Wick on their asses
I didn't see any hand to hand combat. He didn't even shot a gun 😂😂😂😂
@@KhalidSaleh-x4z That's what this person is saying. Their glad that he is just a nerd, but his nerdiness is lethal.

You had me at Rami Malek, Laurence Fishburne and Jon Bernthal! I'll be 1st in line!!!
See you in the line if you’re in Scotland 🏴 😂which I’m doubtful, just read your comment after I posted mine 👍🏻
I agree 👍 💯 love all those actors.
Do you still go to the theaters to watch a movie? lol lol
damn thats a good cast
@@trikkerman1 - Of COURSE ... not all of them, but the ones that benefit from the big screen!
That pool moment brings back memories of
Mechanic Resurrection. The sweet nostalgia 😊
My first thought!!
Nah, the 1st good movie, the 2nd one are trash plot.
Instant banger.
Law Abiding Citizen mixed with some Nerdy Jason Bourne Mr. Robot.
The original version of this stars John Savage and Christopher Plummer. Hugely underrated thriller.
Both wonderful actors. I'll check it out. Thx
Thanks
Thank you. (Which platform can it be streamed in the US on?)
The book was pretty damn good too. The Amateur is similar in plot to a 2001 Jeremy Iron's movie, "The 4th Angel".

I love myself a good revenge thriller. Rami and Jon? Count me in!
Rami is such an underrated actor. Great role as usual.
He won an Academy Award and is A list. He is absolutely not underrated.
@@hi_wifi_guy Beat me to it
being an academy award winner aint enough now?
1:53 big "Jesus Christ, that's Jason Bourne" energy
Really love Rami's movies.
He seem to choose his roles well.❤

Always happy to watch anything staring Jon Bernthal. Oh, wait...
Hell of a cast!!
Hot damn. That cast and a great spin on an old trope? I’m in.
Always respected Remi the fact that there's some outstanding A listers alongside him gives me all the enthusiasm i need to see this next year.

Aw hell yeah. this is gonna rock
Thanks for showing the entire movie!
Finally! So glad this has a new life. The first version was so close to being good, but didn't quite make it. But the premise was excellent! I look forward to seeing this one
I saw the original MANY years ago. I didn't think it was bad, but I'm glad there's a new version!
might go to the theater for the first time in a long time
New Twist on Law Abiding Citizen. And I'm here for it.
I will absolutely go see this.
It's nice to see Rami back in action.

No way she's dead for real.
Exactly
Yeah that screamed cliche twist she's alive and actually a part of the so called killers or just some CIA twist
Pretend to be surprised for the writers sake
Looks stunning

This looks great! It reminds me of him when he did Mr. Robot.

Rami Malek was great in the mini TV series "The Pacific"
Sweet! This book (after The Count of Montecristo, and Frankenstein) is what formed my views on revenge and the planning involved.

Rami Malek vying for the Liam Neeson-of-the-year award!
Right up my 68 yr alley!
He's Clyde Shelton from Law Abiding Citizen.
