This is a bit off topic, but the Berry amp is moderate for a plug-in. Really what you're mainly buying it for is the sick presets, but there's not way too much variety in those. They tend to all have low amounts of bass and high amounts of mids (which admittedly is what is ideal when you're playing 8-string riffs in order to leave space for an actual bass guitar) but they all sound pretty same-y. The harmonizer is praised for being able to respond to pretty fast playing, but it's severely limited by the fact that there's no wet/dry knob, no hz fine-tuning, and it only has standard scales based on major. So no harmonic/melodic minor, whole tone scale, chromatic scale etc. Not being able to customize the scale the way you want is especially unfortunate considering that's arguably the #1 most iconic part to Berried Alive's sound. With this plugin you could replicate it with some large amount of automation shenanigans but at that point there are other plugins which do the job better. The only real praise I have for the Berry Amp is how you're able to customize where the microphones are placed on the Amps and what microphones to use, of which there are a massive amount. This gives an insane meticulous variety to your sound of you want to not use the presets, and in general this is the only point of buying the Berry Amp, as it is easily outperformed by other plugins in every other way.
Needless to say I am not keen on putting my email address in public, but would you be willing to hop on the discord server, if for no other reason than to be able to PM me and exchange contact info?
I just bought it and I'm a bit confused on how to use this especially after watching this video. So I have to record on reaper first with the regular clean sound and then edit it with the amp after?
First things first, love the profile pic! I'm a bit of a Michael Myers fan myself. As for the question, it totally depends on you. You can track with the amp engaged, and i typically do. You most definitely do NOT have to track clean with no processing. I don't think i would track with the harmonizer engaged, though, as it tends to introduce a bit of noticeable latency. If you'd like to discuss it more, feel free to hop on Discord and let's chat!
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper I wish I could actually get that far! I can’t seem to get any sound when I open it in reaper. I can record the clean sound and it plays back but when I add the Berry Amp as an FX it doesn’t play any sound other than the fuzz when I turn the level all the way up
Sounds like a potential routing issue, provided you have the same issue with other plugins. Ping me if you hop on Discord, we'll get it figured out. My guess is you may not have the correct input routed to the track, or you may inadvertently have messed with the input settings on the plugin. For some reason, Audio Assault sims have a left/right/stereo setting on the input. The default is left (which is the correct setting 🤔) Screenshots would be quite helpful here and that's where the discord server will be more useful
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper How do I go about joining the discord? If you say left is the correct setting then that might be my issue as I have it set to both left/right
There's a link in the description. We have a few thousand members, many of them well versed and helpful. If they don't beat me to it, I will look for you after rehearsal (at church practice at the moment 😁)
TIL you can directly open an envelope for the last touched parameter. Now that's way better than browsing through a hundred automatable parameters like an idiot.
I've requested a wet/dry control for the harmonizer, we'll see if Alex honors the request 👊🏿 I feel like it's pretty hot as well, and the level knob doesn't respond how I thought it should.
I do this kind of automation a lot, but I didn't know about doing the selection and ctrl+shift. Much faster and cleaner!
This is very cool! Thanks MIke!
Cheers Myk, 👍
The Ctrl plus shift is sooo much quicker, I use this a lot in vocal volume automation and for this kind of on/off toggle in plugins. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks fella!
Thanks again for your vids. I always learn new tricks!
Let’s go!!!!
This was helpful for me, thank you
Great man, thanks a lot 🍻

Great video, Mike! I'd love to talk to you about collabing on some videos. What's a good way to get in contact with you?

Thanks, Mike! Always teaching me Reaper stuff and I greatly appreciate it.

Harmonizer is not working for me. it's only pitch shifting as if I had the mix 100% one way, has anyone else had this issue and know a way to fix it?

Very useful deep dive! I've been using a pesky workaround but this is more efficient. Looking forward to changing over with some practice, thank you!
is this good for heavy sounds dude
Absolutely, I was using the cleaner of the three models. Check out a demo, I think you'll love it!
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper can u do some heavy stuff with it i havent seen alot of demos on it
Pretty sure ole chop-fest stole that from nintendo.
the music does have a bit of a "Fester's Quest" or maybe Castlevania vibe, huh.
