there is a great function "FX: Show/hide track envelope for last touched FX parameter to improve this workflow.. you just assignn some shotcut to this function in action menu and dont need to look for the parameter in the list (sometimes its really a pain).. touch it and press shortcut.
Thanks for this video! Is there any super-quick way to record synth parameter tweaking, without having to go into the Envelope Dialog window, selecting parameters for arming, and setting automation to write? Couldn't Reaper just record the automation/knob-twisting while playing the keyboard keys, if everything was "learned" beforehand? Thanks so much!
I came to watch this video because I've been doing basically what you're describing in your comment. Reaper seems to capture my automations (within spitfire BBC core plugin) as I play them, but can be super finnicky if I don't move the automation controls--I have them mapped to midi controller--before I start recording. That's why I'm here to learn about trim modes hah.
@@MikeSealguitar I can't believe no one yet responded... haha. It really is kind of a pain in the butt to set this up. The fastest way I've found though, is to move a knob on the plugin, turn it on your midi controller, then go to the "Param" button, then inside that, "Learn". That's the quickest way. And then, set the Global Automation Override to "Write" or whatever else. It isn't ideal, but it's the fastest way. Hope that helps! And yeah, Trim/Read is the default... so, it plays the automation you recorded, without altering anything else. But if you mess up your real-time tweaking of automation, sometimes it's just faster to mouse it in, by showing the envelope on that track.
Partly disappointed that I can't make adjustments via midi strictly using Reaper, Amplitube and a guitar. No controllers. But happy that I should be able to automate things like lowering the gain or volume of a pedal. Unless I missed something. I'll watch again.
Hi! I got a question, how can i automate de click volume? I need to mute in some parts, i use Reaper to play tracks with click in my band (i'm drummer), and i can't find this automation.
best bet is to make another track and insert a click source. then you can automate the volume of that channel. i use it a lot when i need more click volume
SOLID! you solved my problem in the first 3 minutes!
Awesome, that's good to hear :0)
Same here a year later haha
Oh hey...it’s a video of literally the exact thing I was trying to do. Nice!
Didn't know you can smooth out the points! Thanks
skidexa no problem 👍

Thanks for this vid. In some vsts there is a special section to assign parameters, like helix native and others amp sims.
Thanks again. Such a great resource for Reaper.
mcgarnacle21 my pleasure. Glad you're finding the content useful 👍

Is there a way to automate input fx? ( For example the state with the standard looper VST to automatically loop and sequence?)
is there any way to know what is being automated in the effect window? like an indicator on the knob which is being automated
