  • KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, is worried about the exodus of elite Special Task Force members from law enforcement, with many joining private security companies. Mkhwanazi has been speaking in Pinetown, where he handed over more than 230 police vehicles to police stations across the province. Inadequate resources have impacted law enforcement's ability to fight crime, which has contributed to KwaZulu-Natal becoming a crime hotspot.

    They make a LOT more Rands and are better equipped working with the Security agencies. They also have to do less.

    Serve you right SAPS. What were you expecting..No promotions, no resources. For Forensic Services, when it comes to resources, its worse. Private Security companies are getting better and better simple because they are taken care of. In SAPS its worsened lately.

    Imagine private security companies more stronger and skilled than the police force. That’s very dangerous.

      Um go look it up ... The private security industry in South Africa is the largest in the world, with over 10,380 registered companies and over 2.5 million registered security guards of which 556,000 active and a further 2 million reserves; many times more than the available personnel of the South African Police Service and South African ... it has been this way for a very very long time now 😂

    • @aaronrathbone6693
      @aaronrathbone6693 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Far more armed security in SA than police already... this is very clearly evident to every South African who pays attention .... also it's far less dangerous than to leave it to the SAPS ... South africa would collapse into chaos in a day !!! 😂😂

      Amapanyaza is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen, they look like a bunch of gardeners with their overalls. I Hope Bheki Cele rejects Lesufi's application to authorise the use of firearms by those panyazas. Panyaza must realise he can't just come and make his own police force. A police force is a serious thing which took many years to organise... he just wants to show up out of the blue with his own police force.. who does he think he is???

    The state of the SAPS is horrific. The govt keeps cutting their budget, they need triple the funding and staff. Their weapons are worn, they don't receive enough training. They are understaffed and underpaid, corrupt top execs are stealing money. Its not an appealing job, putting your life on the line in one of the most dangerous countries. Pay and train police officers well and hold them to a higher standard and they won't be corrupt. Then you will see results.

      @@ayanda130 it takes a lot of money to train STF member we can't train them to be absorbed by private security companies so they must be restricted to leave the force before certain period

      Faulty reasoning; single angle on multi faceted problem.
      This restricted thinking that pulls down those who excelling & tries to control everything is behind much regression in our country.
      There is some merit in a minimum service period, but that is not addressing the reasons why they are leaving.
      Rather create a conducive environment to recruit, train and retain special task force members; this is an elite unit that engages in high-risk ops. Why can't they be remunerated accordingly, & managed by police professionals who understand stf ops etc and supported and equipped with the resources they require to operate effectively.
