"You don't always decide the party composition" Obviously the reviewer didn't know you can put story characters inside attendant slots instead of your fighting party..
you can do that, but sometimes there are more required characters than attendant slots. I dont use them personally, I like to round out my characters levels somewhat and see that as a good chance to do so.
I'm four hours into the game, and as a huge Suikoden fan, I rate it a 9/10 so far! The storytelling and the script are exceptionally well-crafted. I've laughed numerous times thanks to Lian and Franceska. Despite the large number of heroes, each one has a distinct personality. That requires an enormous amount of labor and love, and it shows. I'm definitely looking forward to Eiyuden II and hope they continue making these games. I'll never understand why many people are so averse to random encounters. As a '90s baby, I grew up with such games. Yes, they can be annoying, but what makes games with random encounters great is that the elements of frustration and surprise keep you wanting more, especially when the story is engaging. If the story weren't as engaging, it would indeed be boring. Personally, I find that JRPGs these days aren't as challenging because everything is spoon-fed. I'm so glad Eiyuden has perfectly revived the beauty of classic JRPGs.
I would really prefer it if it didn't say loading at the bottom, it's quick enough to where you really don't need that there at all and it's just annoying

Turn based combat isn't archaic it's the fact that they're too scared to innovate. There's so much room for improvement for the turn based system but devs think they have to stick to old traditions like long delays. It reminds me of NPC's repeating the same thing over and over. The devs think they can't just make them shut up and/or say things appropriate to the situation. If you look at FF7 FFX and FFX-2 you can see the way things should have evolved (Let's ignore the dancing system for now).
