    While I love your shop I love everything about your story.You are truly blessed to be able to do what you like. You are a very rich man and I hope you know it. What is best is you are doing it while you are young and can enjoy it. I am afraid I waited too long. My wife and I always dreamed about living like you and have even bought a large amount of land in north Florida with plans to build there. The problem is, time passes faster then you think. I am afraid I spent too much time making money to enjoy it. Now I am old, in poor health with money to burn and what the F good is it. My biggest hope is you have inspired others to reach for a dream and do it, as time waits for no man.
    Thanks.

      Sorry to hear about your poor health. To some degree I'd wager the grass is not greener on the other side. My shop is good enough. I'd rather pay a gunsmith to build me a rifle. Although I only have a couple of acres, it borders thousands and thousands of acres of state game lands and wildlife conservation territory that I do not have to pay taxes on-LMAO. Mr. Toobe engages in marketing and I'd wager
      he benefits from it. Enjoy your life and don't feel like you've missed out. Best wishes to you and your wife.

      For god sakes Man, take an apprentice.
      A bright young man with ambition, and a thirst for knowledge.
      An honest soul with little future to look forward to.
      Then give it to him when you can teach him no more.
      Give him the future he deserves.

  • @fowllab
    @fowllab 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sweet set up. You made mention about your shop air. Let me make a couple suggestions. First, do not use PVC pipe for a couple reasons, first being safety. If and I hope this never happens to anyone, you were to have a fire, the PVC will naturally melt which is opening the flow of air, which is going to help fuel the fire until your tank is empty, and if you didn’t shut the compressor off, you now have a pump sending air. Part 2, is fitting joints failing which can blow the joint apart and could injure someone. I gave this exact advice to one of my associates when he built his shop a few years ago. Just recently he told me that he has to replace the piping do to clue joints are popping apart. Use Black pipe and do a loop system to minimize pressure drop. Again sweet set up, thanks for sharing.

    I have had this same idea for building a garage for awhile now, only difference is I was thinking of using 4 shipping containers, and Burying two of them then stacking the other two on top of those then digging out the dirt between them to create a kind of in ground garage that Extends out of the ground, it would allow you to have a pretty tall garage that doesn’t stick to far up off the ground

    Cool shop! When we built our house we built a 3 car garage and closed one 'bay' in as my reloading room. It's my Oasis. Heated and air conditioned (mini split) with 3 walls covered in bench space with cabinets. I like it being attached to the house so it's not like I'm leaving the family to go 'work in the shop'. Love your setup! As John below indicated, you are blessed to have your youth along with your dream setup and be able to enjoy it. I am middle aged and have a few years yet, God willing. It is my dream, as I am sure most others, to have the land and facilities to do what you do. I am very into firearms and building them. I am loosely an "amateur machinist" with very little formal training but like to dabble and try stuff. My wife and I are trying to work towards a larger land purchase in the woods to either build or fix up a fixer upper and where I can shoot without any worries. Both of our priority is to have an outbuilding for my collection of tools, pew pews, and hobby stuff. :) Always good to have the blessings from my better half on that part. The shipping container method you used seems to be a very good affordable option, thank you for showing us that. Thank you for all your content and I look forward to more videos.

    Seeing the shop brought back some good memories; I was living in Montana doing stock finishing for Cooper Arms when I was sent up to Stevensville to pick up a pallet of ammo. The place was on a farm and there was a huge old sagging barn with obvious add-ons over the years. I walked in and immediately noticed the worn out wooden floors and alfalfa dust everywhere but the equipment was spotless. There were cartridge reloading machines from hell to breakfast and ALL were humming right along. I spoke with the owner about the pickup and while we waited he was going on and on about his new CIA contract he'd been awarded. "This is going to be our big break!" he said. Well, he was right.
    I didn't care for the yellow boxes and neon orange labels, but customers didn't seem to care.
    Hunt Shack Missoula (HSM) started in an old dairy barn--now look at them! :)

    To keep the heat from going through the roof in the winter we use perforated radiant barrier in the attic... same thing in the summer except it keeps heat in the attic from radiating into the house.
    My guess is you have the rafters insulated above R19 and that great but standard insulation won't stop radiation heat transfer like pure alluminum perforated radiant barrier. You should be able to find it and the science behind it on the www.
