17:40 - If you notice, in the previous episode Shirley’s statement to her kids was the EXACT STATEMENT that Theo told her to say, it shows that even at this point there is true trust between them.
@@marklouis1890 The writing on this show was incredible. I have rewatched it a QUITE few times looking for these tiny connections. When I say there is not ONE LINE that isn’t important, I mean it. Pure genius.
My Mom always told me when I was little not to be scared of ghosts they can't hurt you, the monsters you should be scared of are the ones that are alive. Case in point with the foster Dad.
It’s very uncommon for male reactors to immediately pick up on the implications on the couch in the basement immediately, they usually wait until the police until it clicks for them. Really sad how immediately most women seem to pick up on it
The only reactors I’ve ever seen be slow to pick up on it was actually a pair of women. I think most people know what was going on there as long as they’ve been paying attention.
You're making a pointless distinction. It has nothing to do with your sex. Some people are more observant and think more quickly, and others don't. Boys get molested about as often as girls do. There's no dividing line.
-theo’s advice about being truthful and actually explaining nell’s death to the kids is how shirley handled it so well in episode 2. without her, i don’t think shirley would’ve handed it as well. - the wife didn’t know about her husband’s sexual abuse to the little girl. the look they shared was one of confusion. - to cojo saying that theo should’ve taken off her gloves when hugging steve, you know that whenever she touches someone/someone touches her she feels their emotions, etc. it’s easier for her to allow touch when it’s because of her job because it helps connect her to the kids and get them to open up more but she doesn’t like that in her personal life. - what theo sees when she touches nell is genuine more heartbreaking than you guys are probably thinking. the show does such a good job at writing that as it progresses it becomes less of a “horror” show and more of a series about family and grief. from episode to the final episode, it becomes more apparent and the show really digs deeper into their story.
Fun fact: the actress playing young Theodora is Mckenna Grace who played the daughter of Ed and Lorraine Warren in Annabelle Comes Home. The actress who plays young Shirley, Theo's sister, is Lulu Wilson who played one of the orphans from Annabelle: Creation. Wilson also played one of the leads in "Ouija: Origin of Evil" where her mother was played by Elizabeth Reaser (adult Shirley). Origin of Evil was also directed by Mike Flanagan. Idk if anyone's mentioned this before but I thought it was interesting.
The first 5 episodes of the show are about each kid in descending order of age. Steven episode was first. Then Shirley. Then Theo. After this it’s Luke and then Nelly.
One thing you may have missed is when Luke and Theo go into that one bedroom Luke immediately said "What's that smell?" and Theo asks "What smell?". I think that means that he has another sense that can be construed as sensitive.
- There is a theory that Theo got her powers from the hand at the beginning, because after that she is acting all confused and like shes experiencing this for the first time. like when she walks out of the sick bed room, holding her hands and looking at them in confusion. I really think thats a legit theory - the way the camera focuses on theos hands in several shots is so good, i love the camerawork throughout the show (can’t wait for episode 6) - the way Theo holds back her emotions until the guy drives away… wow. This actress performance is insane. More to come. Also big kudos to the child actors and actresses. young theo in this episode is amazing. I also know her from Handmaid’s Tale, and her performance there is phenomenal.
About the first theory, it's more likely that Theo was born with the touch. Olivia stated that it was a hereditary kind of stuff, and the first time they entered the house she said "fix the ventilation system", so she felt the cold way before the ghost touched her
@@eddv6090 calimero's theory also misses that Shirley talks in her sleep about someone dancing and later Nell being in the red room. So both Shirley and Theo have the gift it is just differently expressed in them.
Another quick comment… but, remember the mom said that when they moved into the house, Nelly said it was loud. So I take that as it could be multiple spirits in this house… whether it be servants, old owners, maybe even a portal somewhere. 🤷🏻♀️
I wasn't expecting to see Cojo more on edge and anxious than Blake. This was a nice surprise lol The Smiley Man jumpscare is awesome because even though you know it's coming, it still gets you off guard. There will be more like those in the next episodes, and closer to the end of the show there's one that's considered THE best jumpscare ever by horror fans. I can't wait to see y'all jumping!
All the Kids are sensitives/have abilities in their own way. Nell said the house was loud, Luke said the house was bad, Theo said the house was cold, Shirley haves a thing around death and etc...
But their abilities are not as pronounced and active as Theo's l'd say. She can use them at will in a way. She merely takes off the gloves and does it. It happens to them sometimes
@@MsCCarolinee The one I found linked Theo to touch obviously, with Luke being smell and Nell hearing based on things they said. There was a little more disagreement on Shirl and Steve for sight and taste. I would vote taste for Steve because of his red room scene dialogue and Shirl for sight since she seems to see things the most.
About what Corey said about Shirley and the kittens - there are a lot of parallels between the past and present, from what the young versions of the siblings say to what they do in the present. It’s amazing storytelling!
I literally watched most movies the actress for little theo is in, she's incredible. She's also on the handmaid's tales and kills it! Gifted is one of my favorite movies of her, she was like 6 acting as well as any adult.
the actress that plays theo is mike flanagans wife! she’s in most of his stuff and i love her acting in all of it. and blake is being very brave we all appreciate it haha
Such a brave boy, Blake... the bravest! I found this show scary my first watch so everyone saying that they aren't allowed to be scared because it's a "psychological thriller" needs to get bent. Psy horror is still horror. It's especially scary because they are watching with headphones like I did.... it is DIFFERENT with headphones. You get so much more immersed into the atmosphere and the sounds of the show. The sound design of this show is top tier already and then add headphones, which makes things scarier. I watched with headphones, alone, at night and was tense through most of the season. It's the mark of a job well done by the sound department!
Congrats to Blake for making it this far! Only 7 more episodes to go! Just a fun fact they filmed partly here in Atlanta. They shot the exteriors of the house at Bisham Manor here in Lagrange, GA. Basically I’ve been in Hill House lol. If you Google it there are some pretty good pictures.
I could imagine Theo having her own spin off tv show and using her gift to solve mysteries and help people. This is my favorite episode because of her powers! ❤
Nothing is better than finishing finals in Uni and relaxing to a RaggedyPack video(oops I meant watching as I scare myself to death lol). I'm gonna go recommend your vids to my friends and tell them to subscribe cuz you guys are the best TH-camrs on Earth.
Blake is being SO brave. Real talk, though… as much as I love watching people react to jump scares, I don’t love to watch people being tortured. If Blake is miserable, I’d just as soon release him now with best wishes for a peaceful mind, because shit is going to Ramp. Up. Psychological horror is scary shit! Take good care.
Corey, yes, you saw them - there are more ghosts than you guys went over during the outro. I'm not sure of the time stamps, but here are the scenes; 1) There is a woman's face in the door window as Theo walks into the kitchen and catches Nell and Luke playing with the dumbwaiter. 2) Theo is in her dance outfit and follows Luke through the dining room, where we can see half of a woman standing there wearing black. 3) We see someone there again when the camera is on Theo's back as she investigates the dumbwaiter during the basement incident with Luke. It's hard to make out but the arm is visible.
Time for my weekly dose of Tsundere Blake. He says so much that he hates the show and complains, but you can tell that he enjoys it way more than he says.
I was pretty much like Blake during my first watch. Imagine a 30y/o guy watching this with his mom -- who is immune to horror. But now, all I can see is the rich story with a few scares.
I recently found your channel and I'm really loving it! This show is a masterpiece btw. It's really cool to see your reactions and comments, really invested on the series. Greetings from Brazil!
People have different tolerances to different types of horror. I find supernatural horror easy to deal with usually, and more psychological horror is my favorite but it doesn't get to me as deeply as more realistic types like home invasion horror, which I have a hard time with.
I love this episode, Theo and Nelly are my favorites. I empathize a lot with Nelly because of her mental health struggle. Thanks to Blake for putting up with this, I think at the end he'll really have enjoyed it despite how scary it is.
to cojo who is waiting for the show to “pick up”: the first 4 episodes are pretty slow as they are just characterization for the crain kids before getting into the rest of the plot. personally, i think episode 5 is where the show “picks up” and doesn’t let you rest after that! love the reactions!

The only reactors I’ve ever seen be slow to pick up on it was actually a pair of women. I think most people know what was going on there as long as they’ve been paying attention.
