  • In this video we are building another electric dirt bike, this time we are modifying the dirt bike engine and installing the electric motor into the engine so therefore we can still have the 6 speed transmission and clutch.

    i'm following this channel for the better part of 6-7 years (whenever you built the homemade lathe, thats how i found you) and its amazing how far you have progressed, the level of craftsmanship has gotten so high while still maintaining (mostly) relatable content, like you can build all the stuff you build with not that much of equipment, thats really nice to see.

    Love this project. I suspect that you only really need two or three gears. The extra torque from the motor will be fine with bigger gaps between gears than a small ICE motor. You could probably play with the shift drum to skip a couple of gears.

      What's your plan when fossil fuels run out? Like it or not, electric is the future

    • @brad6779
      @brad6779 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@jim4041you obviously haven't seen what goes into making an electric vehicle. A lot of fossil fuels are used to source materials and to produce those things. Modern gas powered cars can get upwards of 40mph and those are arguably more "green" than any electrical car out there. Also in case you weren't aware, electricity isn't a natural resource, it's created by means of coal, natural gas, and in rare occasions nuclear.

    • @jim4041
      @jim4041 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brad6779 I'm fully aware of what goes into making an electric car. I'm also aware that lithium mining uses large machinery that operates off fossil fuels. I'm also aware that there is still coal, gas and nuclear power stations. My question is still the same. When fossil fuels run out, what is the alternative? Electric vehicles are no means perfect atm but it has to start somewhere. It will be refined and get better with technical advancements.

    • @hakonwille9322
      @hakonwille9322 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jim4041 they have been going on about peak oil for 70 years now without it ever arriving. "Fossil" fuels is just a theory which, if you look into it, is holding less and less water. With electric vehicles we are using up much more finite resources which could be used for things we actually need instead of this globalist scam of global warming. There is no way we are going to be able to get to the levels of electric vehicles the leftist idealogues are desperately trying to force us to believe. Math just doesnt add up. As for wind and solar thats something else that does more harm to the environment its supposed to save, and its another scam where the rich is stealing money from tax payers. As for hydroelectric that works well, my whole country is powered by it. But theres not enough feasible places to build dams to cover the demand without destroying the nature. Ontop of all this the infrastructure is in no way shape or form equipped to handle the demand if even 50% of cars get switched to electric.

    I been working on my project for a little while I got an Orion 2022 250 and converted it to a Supermoto, it's a street legal dirtbike.I built a box out of hdpe plastic and bought these electrical switches that got a usb, also a usb c, a volt reader to tell how much volts are in the battery a twelve volt cigarette input and also a push to start button to start the bike with an alarm because I live in a ruff area I wired it all and finished the plastic box to put the switches in and it all fits and it all works it too it took awhile to wire and build the box but it's finally done And decided to paint it to because the way the company sent me the stickers all bent up and no good and it's a plain white color also the reason because before my brother in law had passed away my girlfriend gave me the idea for him to paint it. He was a good artist so that's what I'm in the middle of now I purchased all the paint and some nice airbrushes from Germany and a nice Hvlp gun to get my artistic skills to come out of me. that would be the ultimate Supermoto I would love for you to turn my gas engine into an electrical motor with all my 6 gears with a clutch that is awesome you are very talented I been watching you from even the first dirtbike you converted into electric with gears. Thanks for these videos anything is possible if you put your mind to it my grandpa always told me that.

    I used to heat treat aluminium parts for a lot of different industries such as aerospace and formula 1. We used to heat the part to 505deg C for an hour per inch of thickness. Then there were 3 quench options 1: cold Water quench(hardest stiffest result)
    2: hot water at 50deg C (not as hard or stiff as cold water but also less chance of distortion.)
    3: polyglycol mixed with cold water. Cant remember the ratio but it’s not that widely available so you wouldn’t really end up using it.
    I’d suggest cold water quench with a stress relief cycle in the furnace after quench at 225deg C for an hour per inch again. Then let it cool naturally.
    You’ll almost definitely get some warping. The key is to how the part hits the water. I’d suggest holding it upright to avoid any trapped air pockets. It probably wouldn’t matter if it was upside down or right side up as long as the water can get everywhere without trapping air.
    Good luck dude. Another rad project!
