Seafoam Spray Meets Engine With Over 300,000 Miles!!! Holy Smokes, Batman!

  • My daily driver, a 1992 Saturn SL2 that i have owned for over 13 years. Using Seafoam Spray to clean the throttle plate, intake manifold, intake valves and combustion chamber on this old engine.
    In the 13 years i have owned this car, it will occasionally start to feel a little weak in the mid-range RPMs. When it does, i know it's time to clean the upper engine and intake. I have used brake clean shooting in the PCV hole many times, using my thumb to prevent vacuum leaks, and it works great, but this is a better way. This will also help if you have a stuck throttle plate.
    Though not necessary with an upper engine cleaning on most cars, this engine is well worn, including the piston rings, so i will be changing the oil soon after the filming of this video.

      My 2001 Toyota Tacoma v6 4wd quad still runs and drives great!! It has 317k, I bought it at 75k. Preventative maintenance does go a long way to extending the quality life of a motor and overall system. Here in IL, the cars rust by the time you pay them off. Then, they depreciate in value very fast. If you have the skills to keep an old Saturn on the road, that's the cheapest way to go. I paid it off 14 years ago. And this car makes me smile every time i am at the gas pump. It doesn't hurt that it has a 5 speed with a few minor engine upgrades and 1000 watts running to a 15" subwoofer.

    I had a first-year production 1991 Saturn SL2. I finally donated it in 2009 after some uninsured motorist took out the passenger side. . . Total bummer. . .
    It had 274,000 miles on it on the day I donated it.
    That first year production had hand-bent headers, all cast aluminum valve cover and intake manifold. It had an anti-sway bar that was over 1-inch thick. The transmission, in sport mode, would engage the torque converter lock in 1st gear, and always chirp the tires when shifting into 2nd gear.
    In it's life span, it took two alternators, two serpentine belts, two catalytic converters, one radiator with hoses, three transmission services (super easy,) and one fuel pump. Not a whole lot of expensive work ever needed. . .
    From 1991 through 2009, I sure got every penny of use out if it.

A lot of people comment about using water in a similar manner ( my Dad told me about it YEARS ago ) but I have never tried it. I don't care what kind of car you own. It's *yours*, take care of it like you have pride in yourself and your car. Polish your paint, seal and wax it, maintain the engine with great quality products. That's your baby, treat her right and she'll do right by you.
    People hating on this dude: worry about your own car. Chances are rocbola takes better care of his shit than you do.

    Did this in my 01 tahoe. Omg !! 275k miles it ran good already just wanted to see what happened. Wow . The pedal is way more responsive engine is even quieter than it was before. Opened it up on the highway and it ran beautifully. It already ran beautifully but even better. I highly suggest this on all vehicles with mileage on it. My daughter's Camry we bought from original owner has 400,000 miles on it. We do seafoam in the gas once a month seafoam in the oil one week prior to oil change. The car is still silent you can't even hear it run. The engine is mechanically sound and the only thing we've had to do it in the nine years that she has owned it is brake pads and tires

    Nice vid. I've tried seafoam on all my cars. It seems to work very well and I've felt noticeable power differences after treatment. The only negative I've found is that you gotta keep an eye one your catalytic converter. 3 of the five vehicles I've treated had their cats core burned through not long after treatment. I heard noticeable rattles coming from them and when pulled I found the honeycomb cores were disintegrated in sections. Could have been the age of the cats, but 3 of 5 tells me it's might just be a seafoam side effect.

I patched at least a dozen holes in the radiator with furnace cement. I spray painted the car with about 20 cans of 50cent a can paint. I loved that car. It got us around and that's all we cared.

    • @rocbola
      @rocbola  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not all about the price. Wal-mart is able to sell their products so cheap because of a variety of immoral and unethical business practices. I'd rather buy it from Advance Auto because they pay a living wage, rather than teaching their employees how to sponge off the taxpayers.
