Went to Target today, and they had just stuffed the pegs with this set. And there was not one but TWO 0/5 black Alfa Romeo chases. And I'll confess, I took them both.
I think it is a great set. Having cars that look stock or stock with moderate customizations are my favorites to collect. The choices in this offering are kinda like the way Auto World does their cars and trucks. Granted, I do have a fair share of diecasts that have over the top racing liveries and some of those are cool to collect. I do appreciate you sharing and showing sets and or cars that you do not like. Because some of those are right up my alley. Thanks for the video.
I enjoy your videos and analysis of the sets and models. Keep up the great work! I was thinking much of the same way with pairing down my collections to just the premium and vintage or popular stuff but I don't know if I'll pull the trigger lol! I do think there have been better years for Car culture sets than this year 2024. I have and do look forward to at least some of the new models like the upcoming Race Day Rexy/Roxy Porsches and some of Modern Classic set. I picked up the three new to premium in this set cause thats what I go for out of these mainly.
I'm a sucker for the HW premiums and there are several 2024 sets that I'm just straight up buying a case: 1.Race Day, 2.Modern Classics, 3. Team Transport D with 4Runner, 300Z and Toytota Off Road, 4.the 2 pack set with Hardbody, Porsche and Audi, and last the 5. Terra Trek Set with the Datsun 4X4. I wasn't thinking of getting World Tour but stumbled on a fresh set with chase so you know how that went.
I agree it’s nice to see the Brasilia, and it looks pretty good! I wasn’t aware that only one headlight is up on the Supra…looks kinda dumb to me now 🤔
I collect Alphas, so the GTV6 is my fav here. One of my trading buddies even found the Black Alfa Chase, which he offered to me in trade. All that said, I have the entire set, save the Supra. Those disappear in my area quicker than beer at a frat party. But, I'll find one eventually.
It's good set, just not a _great_ one imo. The Supra and the Alfa Romeo GTV6 are my faves here. The VW Brasilia is kinda cool too, but somehow i'm not too excited about it. I'm more excited for the upcoming "Race Day" and the new "Modern Classics" way more than i do for this set. Thanks for the presentation.
That super is wicked looking. I just don’t like the headlight stuck up like that. They should’ve put it down after the super treasure hunt and kept it down…lol
As i have mentioned several times as far as premium HW the last 2 plus years the blvds have been far superior in every way IMO to Car Culture and F & F. I also agree that at times HWs appears to be mailing it in. However only representing 4 countries is not that big a deal as the most they could even represent is 5 for a set. I think the bigger issue is they saturate the market so much that they run thin on ideas. Why even include a car from Japan when you have another Japan set coming out shortly? Cause they are saturating the market and there are only so many countries that produce well known or popular models. Even the themes of the set are repeating with other close themes or directly in name. Of course I will keep buying as most will.
The Supra is the best from the set in my opinion and it's also the one more sought after here in the UK. The Alfa comes second for me though a bit boring compared to the red mainline with the livery which was fantastic. I think the Modern Classics set on the way with the 2 Supras, 190E and Forester would be the Car Culture set of the year for 2024 and the best for a while!
Had a case of that Modern Classics set on preorder. My co-buyer backed out and I had to cancel. Sucks, as those are going to prove insanely difficult to find retail.
@@norsefalconer I'm seriously thinking about pre-ordering a case also as the modern classics set are indeed going to be hard to find when they're released.
Alfa is the only one I would get. The Supra looks better here than its mainline counterpart. The OG Hot Ones 1982 Celica Supra is still the best IMO. I do kinda like that Brasilia too. Other two are meh. I think they could've picked at least 5 different countries to represent too.
So for me, it's not a bad set. Just not an outstanding one. You're right, calling it a "World Tour" set is something of a stretch since it's predominantly a European set... I'd still consider the Brasilia a 'token' European car being as it's a Volkswagen. There are cars from other countries that could have been represented here and I just think this mix is a little lazy. Hopefully, this is just the start of the World Tour series and not a one off. As for the Supra, like the era and model just not a huge fan of that casting. Simply because it's a modified JDM that's been lowered and with a body kit. I would have preferred Hot Wheels released that model in its factory trim.
i have been collecting Car Culture since day one, but I think it is time for Hot Wheels to discontinue this series. Too many sets per year now, with half of them being either lackluster or making little sense. This World Tour set is a perfect example. World Tour, but it has 3 German cars and nothing from the US, the UK, France, etc. It could be World Tour of classic 2 doors, but then you have the Audi that just doesn't fit. And not a single new casting. Not one. That's my biggest gripe with Car Culture right now. F&F seem to have more new toolings than CC. What's up with that? The only upcoming Car Culture set i am excited about is the next Race Day release. I welcome each of these cars in my collection, but they could come from any other series, or even from one of the silver releases, and they would look just as good.
Mailing it in is an accurate assessment of Mattel premiums lately. While this set has a couple of decent castings overall it’s pretty boring as others have said and very underwhelming for a “world tour.” Definitely a missed opportunity.
I have to agree. I don't really care about the Supra, so its Chase would've been one less artificially scarce model to pursue. But, unfortunately, I'm an Alfa collector, so I "have to" have the Chase, lol
That VW Brasilia is coolest, Alfa and Audi are nice too 😎 Supra would be nice in different colour or deco and wirhout sleepy eye. Golf doesn't intrest me at all...

World tour with 4 countries 😂...just love the humor @ championdjk....great videos...keep it going !!
champdjk bitches to much

Yes, you’re right. It came as a mainline and a super treasure hunt. A red one.
I only buy the castings I like now, too many premium castings I dont like. Glad to see the Brazillia back

the supra was the best one

Hot. Wheels. Cars. Culture. World. Tour

Funny enough, Brasilia and Alfa are the peg warmers in my area.
Mine too. The two best cars of the series. Scalpers not wanting them is good by me.

I’ll buy the Alfa if I find it on the pegs….

Yeah. Plenty of interesting cars from other countries. Maybe in follow on sets? 🤷
I find more 0/5 chases, than STH's.
Have seen the entire and partial sets a few times, passed on them. (🚫chase)
The VW is the best, imo.
So for me, it's not a bad set. Just not an outstanding one.

I had the same feeling. It's a cool set, but not the right name for it!
is the Mk7 a Gti?
No, this one is not!
Mailing it in is an accurate assessment of Mattel premiums lately. While this set has a couple of decent castings overall it’s pretty boring as others have said and very underwhelming for a “world tour.” Definitely a missed opportunity.
They really should have made the Supra the chase.
Would have been a home run! Mattel once again mucked up😊

Its a ok set, im passing on it.
the supra was the best one from the set
Tbf, the axis collection doesn’t really.. how do you say? Market well.
😆
Interesting observation.
That VW Brasilia is coolest, Alfa and Audi are nice too 😎
Supra would be nice in different colour or deco and wirhout sleepy eye.
Golf doesn't intrest me at all...
The tampo looks so pixelated. The quality control sure has gone downhill.
i passed on this set, it`s kind of yawn, i kind of liked the Brazilian vw, just not enough to actually buy it
What a lame@ss set 😂 The brasilia is the only one worth getting and probably the audi
