    It’s pronounced ee~ther~net. From the computer industry and been around since the early 90’s. Good show, Figured you would want to know.

    Very good video. I’m considering getting the helix 7 as you did to network with my helix 8 MSI. But before I blow another $1000 on the new unit and a Ethernet box and cables I need some clarity on a situation I have.
    I purchased the helix 8 MSI in Nov 2019. Unit appeared really nice until May 30 this year.
    Pic quality seemed off and then started getting horizontal lines every 1/8” or so on the mega down and side views.
    The units screen felt really hot. Restarted unit and lines were not there but quality still seemed off and then the lines came back.
    Hummingbird sent me a new transducer and it appears to be fixed with the lines issue but I think the image quality isn’t what it was new.
    And the screen still appears hot to me.
    Ran the unit in my garage for an hour to rule out sun causing the excessive heat. Transducer in a bucket of water.
    Screen temp reached 115 degrees F and seemed as hot as it did on the water.
    Just curious on your take on screen temps on this a unit since you seem very familiar with them. Thanks for the videos.

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I know the screen on the helix do run a little hot but 115 seems more that what it should reach. I could run a test on mine in the garage tomorrow and see what the temp reaches. As far as the lines I have seen power cause issues weather it be the wiring or connection to the terminals. Are you running multiple connections on one battery terminal?

    • @wtcscorpio7314
      @wtcscorpio7314 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the Ipilot link header sensor wired together with it but it had been that way since install.
      However when I got the new transducer I separated them but they both go to a block that’s powered from the battery

    • @wtcscorpio7314
      @wtcscorpio7314 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m thinking about running it on its own battery and new wiring.
      Also thought about directly plugging the wires into the back of the unit instead of using the factory plug that the wires get installed into. I’m not a big fan of the transducer wire getting bent right at the plug end inside the plastic harness connector.
      That’s be awesome to see a temp comparison. I lightly tape a probe to the screen. The probe came with a nice volt meter I’ve had and appears to be pretty accurate.

    Great video! I am planning to network two Solix’ and possibly a Helix unit together and was wondering if you or anyone else has experienced any networking or interference issues, or any other issues with your units since making the video?
    Thanks, Tony

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. The only interference I've ever had is with a mega si transducer and a dual spectrum 2d transducers wires touching together on the transom of the boat amd would only happen once in a while.

    Does the Ethernet cable from the hub power up the unit, or did you have to run an additional cable for the power?

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately the unit needs it's own power and the ethernet box as well

    I love your videos and I have a question. If I had a ultera with MSI built in and I mounted freestanding 360 up in the bow, how would they connect to Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N GPS up in the bow? I assume there would be a transducer splitter so I could plug the 360 and the Ulterra MSI into the Helix 12?

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks alot! You would use the proper dongle for the built in di ducer and a y cable which would give the opportunity to run 2 transducers

Bought two used units and havent installed yet,trying to go cheap route got hummingbirds 5 and 7inch units.noticed on boxes they have the si or di designation on box but when reading paperwork there is referance to control of side imaging or down imaging parameters.so even if box designates as di or si, do they have that screen view or no.?snookie pa.?😊😊😅

    Do you power all three with the cranking battery or run a separate battery for them? If separate is it on a switch or in parallel with the starter? Thanks

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I power all 3 with the cranking battery! I installed the biggest battery possible for the compartment. On a previous boat I had my side imaging unit installed on a separate battery that was hooked to a bank charger which charged it at the end of the day

      Only to be able to hook up more than 2 humminbird and minkota products at a time. If only 2 units u can hook directly to the back of each unit and have them networked

    You would think that if your Hummingbird Helix 7 has Bluetooth, and your trolling motor has ipilot link, which is bluetooth. These 2 should just network together via bluetooth..

  • @rolandtucker4306

    What other stuff can you network with the humminbirds?

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can network together a minn kota trolling motor, humminbird 360 or a talon with your humminbird units. Hope this helps

    • @jwar2163
      @jwar2163 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HumminbirdHelp You forgot to precursor your response with the fact that the Minn Kota troll motor has to have I-pilot I-link to be able to network. It baffles me why Hummingbird would put out so many different models of the Helix 7,9,10, 12s with or without network ability , Minn Kota does the same. Must be a Johnson outdoors thing because that line of thinking is causing some much confusion in the one boat solution for electronics. Just sell all troll motors with the ability to network. fishfinders, talons etc etc.
