I just realized that the synod follows the same structure of the "Concilium" that created the new mass. Each group was in charge of a little part. No one had the big picture, except for one person.

Today, October 12th is the feast of Virgen of the Pillar. The apparition of the Virgen of the Pillar is the first Marian apparition of the church. I think the idea that traditional Catholics are only being desirous of a return of the Traditional Latin Mass is short-sighted. It is not just the TLM but the traditional moral teachings of the Church that are also being denied to traditional Catholics. It is not simply the fact that the Traditional Mass is relegated to the gym at 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoons, but it is also the tear-down of Church teaching.

There are many rites within the Church. The Latin rite should be offered in all parishes. Dogma and catechesis should not change. Why are Cardinals and Bishops allowed to frame a synod, which threatens the very foundations of the Church? God is the same... yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The Eastern Church understands this truth. Is it the true Church? Pope Paul VI said, "The smoke of Satan has entered the Church." He was correct. If the hierarchy continues to promote false teaching, sin, and heresy then we will no longer have a valid Roman Catholic Church. It will have become a pawn of the secular culture.

In some Orthodox churches, a clergy-laity assembly/council functions to assist the synod of bishops in matters of administration. I’ve been a delegate more than once. But all our decisions were ratified by the hierarchs, who possess the charism for apostolic oversight. These break-put sessions in Rome remind one of faculty meetings before the school year designed to have everybody on board for this or that “new thing.” These are often highly manipulative. This synod strikes me as more Presbyterian in nature.

This synod is supposed to be less hierarchical than previous synods of bishops, but instead it is more so with all this secrecy and manipulation.

What will finally resolve the financial crisis of the Catholic Church is simple. When upon entering a Catholic Church I encounter God and by attendance to His presence there am compelled into adoration and worship of Him instead of encountering surrogate devices and agenda driven platitudes that bear no actual resemblance to the consummately selfless life and dispositions of Christ or Scripture, I will know that the "crisis' is now over.
The Plenary Council was a similar process of small groups saying anything and criticism or debate was discouraged. The submissions welcomed ideas from people who are not practising Catholics and people who had agendas. Those who ran these sessions summarised what was said, filtered the responses and I wonder if this was done to filter out orthodox views. I wonder if the final documents really respected the views of the people in the pews.
Reminded me of change management sessions in the workplace...."consultation" but preconceived result.
Also in a small group there can be a feeling of lets agree with the "loud" views to be popular rather than voice ones unease or opposition

Presumably, the purpose of a “Synod on Synodality” is a Synod called, primarily to decide just what exactly a Synod might be. History does not help us very much. Consider the Synod of Whitby in 664. This was called by King Oswiu of Northumbria, who presided over the Synod and acted as the final judge, to determine and to give effect to the decision of the Synod. The Pope was not involved, since the purpose of the Synod was to determine the extent of his authority in the Kingdom of Northumbria. St. Wilfrid presented the arguments in favour of the Roman position, since Agilbert, the official delegate from Rome, did not speak English. The language of the Synod was English and it was, very much, an assembly of English Bishops gathered together to deliberate upon the authority of the Bishop of Rome in the Realm of Northumbria. King Oswiu asked the Bishops to agree that the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven had been given to St. Peter and that the Bishop of Rome was his successor. The Bishops agreed. However, the position was not accepted by everyone. The supporters of the Ionian (Celtic) position withdrew to Iona and St. Wilfrid became Bishop of Northumbria. Many Priests and Monks left for Iona and King Oswiu was obliged to bring in new Priests and Monks from Ireland, which, by then, had agreed to follow the Roman position. Today, the Thirty-nine Articles of the Church of England state that only the civil ruler may call a Council or a Synod and that, in a Christian Realm, the Sovereign is the temporal governor of the Church. The Council of Trent was called at the request of the Pope, but was formally convoked by the Emperor, Charles V, who regulated the conduct of the Council. For example, he did not permit any of the Popes who were in office during the Council to attend the Council in person and he insisted that the Council meet within the Empire - attempts by the Pope to have the Council transferred to the States of the Church were unsuccessful. So, there is a strong historical precedent for a Christian ruler to call a Council, or a Synod and there is no absolute historical support for the proposition that only the Pope can call a Synod or a Council.

Problem: lack of reverance and devotion in our churches. Why: The Church has made itself about fellowship rather than worship! There is no sacred silence and reception of the Holy Eucharist in the hand and standing has mentally deminished the gift of Christ we are receiving and then amplified by distribution by lay people. Cardinal Tobin stumbled, stopped, looked around and down and was totally gobsmacked in his vague answer. He avoided the whole issue of the great liturgy of centuries. He just swiped centuries away without any serious conclusion. He did not face up to the issue of the guillotining of the great liturgy. he did not answer the issue of masses being stopped or pushed away into gyms and halls. This is a major issue and that it is not on the Laborum is even worse. This issue affects devout life long Catholics who lovbe this liturgy. IT HAS NEVER happened tpm the Eastern orthodox liturgy of our Church It has taken place within the Latin lung of the Church and it has burst open. Yep, the script has been written and the words on paper flow daily from Hollerich in particular. Some may be getting their stall for a conclavbe and that is even worse.

Bingo! at 4:45. This is not a synod. A synod is a body of only bishops; no laymen. This is the product of a Jesuit priest --- God save us --- who, as he himself said, wants to "make a mess." He has succeeded: The liberation-theology Jesuit from Argentina has intentionally made a mess. Francis's appointment of the Jesuit approvers of homosexual union is certainly a mess. We are now led by a Pope who wants to uproot Catholicism. Good Catholics must not allow this, and must let the Pope know that it is HIS ideas that must be uprooted.

I disagree, Mr. Arroyo. There are some who do oppose the Holy Father and whose ideology is as nefarious as that of the left's. I know many people who attend the Latin Mass, and there is a superiority. One guy told me that the Latin Mass goers were going to "save the Church". I know this was just one guy, but there are many TH-camrs who also push a narrative of "I used to be a wishy-washy 'Novus Ordo' Catholic, and then I got serious when I went to Latin Mass." I see this as detrimental to the faithful, and these TH-camrs are quite influential.
Maybe they should have done a synod to discern whether they should have done a synod on synodality. 🤣

As a Catholic I agree. Both Jesus and Paul spoke of people who should be excluded from the Church. The Church needs to remember that. Some how this Synod seems to be focusing on those who DON'T BELONG AND SHOULDN'T BELONG!

✝ Jesus Christ and the traditional family of dad mom and their kids is the back bone of society. Also faith and good Christian morals is from Jesus Christ it's not something for mere humans to vote on in order to suit their own desires.

Hmmm… I tend toward skepticism on this “synod on synodality” and if heresy is present I want to know but these guys seem to be looking desperately for reasons to dissent without pointing out any heresy coming from the synod. This is all supposition based on the Holy Father’s unfortunate jibberish leading up to the synod. Try setting aside pride and listen. Tell me what they are saying instead of what you think they might say. Tell me what they are saying instead of extrapolating from statements that preceded the synod. I love you EWTN but it feels like you have joined the rest of the media outlets and decided to advance an ideology rather than report FACTS.
