    Brick is always gonna win. More solid. Holds up longer. But if you cant afford brick, siding is probably a good option.

    Thoughts on using thin brick veneer over full thickness brick?

    • @GeneralShaleBrick
      @GeneralShaleBrick  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thin brick is another great option and is used all the time for home exteriors. If you are interested today or just would like more information, please reach out to us at generalshale.com and we can get you connected with a local representative to learn more!

    can you replace existing vinyl sidings with brick and will it become same as if bricks were chosen during the first time build?

    • @GeneralShaleBrick

      Absolutely! There are a few different ways to achieve this look. One of the most recent ways we have highlighted how to do this can be found by viewing the following pages. 😀

    1:15 One of the bricks just cracked. Does that mean there's structure damage?

    Is it possible to lay a brick exterior over wood siding??? Just bought a renovated old home that has new wood siding, but I don't want to remove it before installing brick, unless necessary.

    • @GeneralShaleBrick
      @GeneralShaleBrick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although it is possible it is not typically recommended as this may prove to be more costly to leave the siding in place. There are many factors involved and additional considerations must be taken into account when bricking over an existing cladding. For detailed information on adding brick to existing construction please refer to the Brick Industry Association’s Technical Note on this here www.gobrick.com/docs/default-source/read-research-documents/technicalnotes/tn-28a-2020-03.pdf?sfvrsn=2

    Hehe...no bias. Brick has a higher thermal mass. It does not insulate.

  • @saidtheblueknight

    Lol when that piece of wood hit the brick wall, it clearly created damage that would require significant work to fix. Oh and maybe next time you do a similar test, make sure it's done apples to apples...if you had a piece of sheathing behind the vinyl it would not have gone through like that, but for this biased test you just put vinyl and nothing else behind it.

      Andrew, thank you for taking time to watch our "Brick vs Vinyl" video! While we do not claim that nothing can damage brick, we do stand by the safety of brick compared to alternative claddings, like vinyl, and brick's ability to withstand common weather events such as hail demonstrated in the video.
      The integrity of the impact test on different common residential wall systems can also be viewed in more detail here: th-cam.com/video/fDk0QKEc02Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Bs7Hir6BJxTGlFpB
      And if you have time, please take a moment to view this local news story where lumber pierced into neighboring homes (not built with brick) due to high winds here: th-cam.com/video/YmeEzYjb-bk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IKgdFHbD4EmKbb6v
      If we can help answer further questions about the durability, safety, longevity and resiliency of brick, please contact us or the Brick Industry Association. We would be happy to provide you with additional resources about masonry products. - GS

    There is a sea of vinyl home for sale near my home in the Greater Toronto Area, arguable the worlds most insane real estate market, it has failed to sell.
    Please don’t be cheap and use Vinyl.

    Earthquakes - brick likley won't hold up... Mortor likley has to be repointed or tuckpointed after 25 years or so. Very expensive and time consuming to do. Brick is not maintenance free.
