When Quinton de Kok (South African cricketer) refused to “take the knee” for BLM in the World Cup he was abused and lambasted for it despite being from a mixed race family. He said it’s one thing to support something of your free will, another thing to be forced into it. He ended up getting dropped from the game against West Indies.

If you are going to protest you need to accept consequences, there’s no point protesting if you’re not willing to take the consequences. Muhammad Ali protested by refusing to fight in the Vietnam war; his belt was stripped and fines etc. but he stuck by his beliefs! People need to be willing to sacrifice if they want to protest against or for something, otherwise it’s just a fashion statement or meaningless gesture imo. Basically prorest ir don’t protest but don’t be wishy washy about it

And please don't say "whataboutism" because what I'm saying is very relevant. If you can't apply the same rules for everyone there must be a problem. Also, the other aspect of it, which I touched on a bit, is why should the players and citizens of the country suffer due to decisions made by their governments or organizers. And I never said that there was no reason at all to change the host in the first place but like I said they had 12 years to do something about it. Complaining about it once it has already started and using the players as tools to do so seemed pathetic to me

The stick to football line doesn't work. Politics affects everything. Russia is currently banned, do you agree with this? South Africa was banned while under apartied rule, did you agree with this? In 1974 Arab nations refused to play Israel, do you agree with this? Germany was banned from football for 5 years after World War 2. The list goes on.
As you can see football has always been political. People say it hasnt but it has. That can't and shouldn't change. Footballs popularity make it a good reflection of society and some of the potential areas we need to work on and therefore makes it a massive voice for change, especially as it is the biggest sport with roughly 3.5 billion fans worldwide.

I loved it, they made the whole country look like idiots. Everyone is forcibly participating in this absolute shambolic display of virtue signalling. And this WC proved that that is EXACTLY what it is, virtue signalling.
When people genuinely care about whatever it is they believe in, they'll die for it. These guys won't even take a card for it. They don't give a fuck, neither do I, but they pretend they give a fuck and it is exhausting.
