June of '85 I was in Philadelphia to get on a MAC flight to Germany. I had a couple of days so I took the opportunity to go see a game at Veterans (Stadium). The Phillies played the Mets and I recall Juan Samuel hitting two home runs (the second was a grand-slam) in the first inning in what would turn into a Phillies rout of the Mets. I'll always remember my day at the 'Vet'.
A stadium that massive and supposedly state of the art… and lasted barely three decades. Some good memories, sure. But it was awful. Citizens Bank Park is already two decades old and still feels new and fresh. I have a hard time feeling nostalgic about the Vet. About what happened there, sure. But not the stadium itself.

You know I have not been to either of the replacement stadiums or the new Arena. I miss Veterans Stadium and the Spectrum.
