    Glad you enjoyed my home region. We moved here 13 years ago from Wellington after travelling for six years and haven’t regretted it one bit. The weather, the produce, the wine, the outdoors and lifestyle is what drew us here and keeps us here.

      @@Commander_Turbanator I reccomend signing up to the tramping club and AUCC (Auckland University Canoe/rafting/whitewater/kayak (can't remember what the acronym stands for exactly) - they have some amazing trips out into the country all year around. The rock and alpine club is good too if oyu know how to climb or want to learn.
      Also Northland is beautiful and only a short drive up (plus it's warmer), even if it's less publicised tourist wise as it has less infrastructure than other areas.

      @kiwi fella So many decades of neglect by both major partys has brought us to the point we're at now. All around the globe, country after country are struggling to find solutions for the very same social ills that plague NZ. Acknowledging the issues we face is the first step in moving forward. Denying there ever was a problem, particularly regarding poverty and homelessness, was the worst thing that could have happened and contributed big time to the damage we now see. These issues will take years to right, if ever, regardless of who has their feet under the top table. I for one am extremely grateful to live here and my whanau work hard at helping those in our community who need support. Maybe more people should try mucking in instead of cultivating a negative attitude and bringing others, and themselves down. Try it mate, you might be surprised and find yourself actually enjoying the privilege of lending a helping hand to those less fortunate. Kiaora.

    Hawkes bay ,napier is where I'm from its great for raising kid or for old people to retire but there is a huge crack problem and not much for teenagers to do
    I remember hanging out at a place we called 'the metal farm's right next to the te mata mushroom farm and listening and playing to heavy metal all night long

    What a lovely wine country! If I went there, I'd wish for either bikes or taxis to all the wineries so I could drink as much as I liked :). Also got distracted by Paulien/Pauline the Dutch Kiwi! I noticed her slight accent so I rewound a little bit to hear her say where she was from. Fun (because I'm also Dutch!) Also, I don't think science is completely clear on the benefits of fermented foods for people's gut health yet, but it's a great technique for making great food anyway, so it won't hurt while we wait for more results of research :)

    • @AlexanderAyling
      @AlexanderAyling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Meg! The rocks are from a gravel soiled area known as the Gimlet Gravels which grows unique wines. The scent of the rocks is actually smellable in hints of the wine

    I am looking forward to visiting Hawkes Bay in around September this year when I go back to the North Island. I have friends and family in so many parts of New Zealand and have just been up north in Taranaki. I live in Christchurch. I really hope I'll get to meet you and your wife sometime when I go there. Hopefully you'll come visit Christchurch sometime. I love it how we are all like neighbours in New Zealand because its so small and we are like a family. I love your videos and will subscribe to your wife.

    Enjoyed that video. Hi, we’re the American couple who got “stuck” here over a year ago. We visited Hastings and Havelock North during the month we stayed in Napier. Loved that area. We went to Craggy Range and the Hastings market as well. Right now we’re in the South Island in Kaikoura headed to the Marlborough wine country around Blenheim. We will then spend all of April in Nelson.Then a week in Picton before heading over to Wellington where we will spend another month. It would be fun if our paths crossed somewhere along the way. I’m Daniel L. Manske on Facebook and Skeman on Instagram. All the best!
