Thanks for watching. Since you edit, but don't shoot, it doesn't surprise me that you're not familiar with them, but shoot more and you'll find them invaluable.
Mr. Costa.. I have used a FOCUS CHART and I will say this, when on a shoot my BACK FOCUS has gone out on occasion. Didn”t have a FC so I found something shiny in the distance to FOCUS on too set my BACK FOCUS until I was able too grab a FC from studio. Thoughts? Thanks.
I got it! Decades ago I worked for a motion picture camera rental company (we rented out Arri 35mm and 16mm cameras). Target charts were an essential tool in the business, both for our lens technicians and for the camera assistants hired by our clients. If your viewers ever rent lenses as their careers advance, they should be testing the lenses before accepting them. The person from whom they are renting should have the capability to do these tests at their facility. If they don’t, bring your own charts (and consider renting elsewhere). A bargain (or refund) is probably not worth a lost day of production. Don’t accept assurances that everything was tested. You should be charging your client for the time you spend in prep. Make sure that the client understands this ahead of time. They should understand that paying you for a day or half day of prep is cheaper than a day of reshooting.

I bought a glass focus target chart from Edmonds Optics but I didn’t use it yet because I am still waiting for it to arrive.
As you get used to it, you will find it to be an invaluable tool.
